It simply wouldn't be as interesting if she was married. Same reason why you never seem to see Yui's husband.... and the same reason why none of the girls ever end up with a boyfriend. it would drag that character down.

Except Konata... she could probably pull off having a boyfriend and keep being comedic gold. the others? not so much.

I don´t buy that. Not one bit. Its probably because some of the fanbase can´t handle it. Remember the incident that happend with that manga cahracter where otaku´s went crazy cause she might not be a virgin. At the same time, its not weird for a person to go through high school without a bf or gf at all. While koroi is quite a bit older so its not fair putting them in the same catagory.

uhh when I said I didn´t buy that, I meant for the high school girls. A few of kuroi´s jokes do verge on her not being married. But not enough that the character wouldn´t serve a function without them.

It´s likely she did have a bf right before the girls started high school. That´d mean it´d only be 3 years at most without one. 2 going on 3 in the anime. It could be that she´s a little picky and or that she´s not going out enough so shes not meeting anyone. And two of the times we do see her out, she hangs out in a large group of younger girls, which might scare off guys in two ways. Someone might think a few are her daughters, and groups are scary to begin with.

Apparently it's unusual in Japan to be unmarried by the time a woman hits 25. It ties into their tradition of buying a cake for Christmas, then not wanting it after the 25th of December.
