I didn't read the side effects from the pharmacy until 2 days into taking it. I did finish my 7 day treatment. I wish I did my research. It is now 9/16/11. Having problems sleeping through the night (always waking up). My thighs are hurting like someone punched them.

I'm sorry for your issues. For what it's worth, this drug was a life saver for me after battling pneumonia for two months. I did have some mild tendinitis for about a month after 30 days on this drug, but it resolved completely. It also resolved some underlying issues with another condition which I had for years. It was a LIFESAVER for me. Amazing how different folks can have different results from the same drug.

Just because you didn't have side effects it doesn't mean anybody will have. You were lucky and I wasn't.... I have no reason to make this thing up. I didn't share my story for you to make fun of me, but to alert others from the dangers of those antibiotics. Corticoid steriods only make the side effects worse! So if I can research this info and find this out, WHY THE HELL DO THE DRS. NOT KNOW??? Even other doc. are saying this drug shld never be prescribed unless on your death bed, and just gets used to readily! I even cornered the doctor in his office when he prescribed it, because I knew about the problems this drug caused. He told us "oh its safe thats a very rare problem". RARE MY ASS!!Thankfully due to the grace of God I had enough sense to hv my husband stop taking them right away. Then when I called the doc he said "oh I don't think its a reaction but we will take him off of it." And then the idiot prescribed prednisone for the pain! If you only knew how it damages the body, one of the SEVERAL ways it destroys the body is by inhibiting the conversion of HMG-Co A to mevalonic acid, which impairs cellular integrity and reconstruction, & causes destruction of muscle fibers.

Then his right achilles tendon. Thankfully I knew about these drugs and made him stop taking immediately. Now only time will tell how severe the damage will be

Never, ever, ever take this drug. Listen to this guy! I had a number of side effects after two or three doses. I stopped after 7 doses and I still have an achy body one month later. This was originally sold as a chemo drug so you know how powerful it is. Only use this for MRSA or hospital acquired staph!!

Well, great. Now I wish I hadn't watched this video. John, I'm so sorry you experienced such a horrible ordeal. I hope by this time you are feeling better. I really hope so, because I am currently taking Levoquin 750 mg for a MRSA infection. I am allergic to sulfa, which would've been prescribed for me. So I can't take that. Any other antibiotic that ends with 'illin' will not work on MRSA. So I don't know if there is any other option for me. Sure hope I don't have any side effects. Take care!

Levaquin literally saved my life when I had bacterial pneumonia,I was on IV levaquin for 4 days and had to be due to my extremely high white blood cell count. That was a year and a half ago, I had zero side effects,and am currently at home with a respiratory infection that is also being treated with levaquin tablets,500 mg a day. I have had problems with bacterial infections since childhood for some reason,even though I am extremely healthy and do not smoke/drink etc..

I took one dose (I had Pneumonia, which I have beaten without antibiotics before, but it was a particularly bad case) and started having heart palps and tremors, and I ran next door and got an ativan from my neighbor, then back to the hospital. The doctor told me "Levaquin is the best antibiotic available for early pneumonia". I wish I had gone to another doctor, because the side effects were torture, but now I have been off it for 5 days and I feel ok. Am I out of the woods?

I took Levaquin a few times in the last 4 years and had long lasting reactions also. The last time I took it after I had a respiratory infection the side effects never went away. I still suffer from increased pulse rate, insomnia, and other effects that cause me to be depleted. I have found that L-Theanine has helped me to get by day to day to deal with the stuff that continues to go on. L-Theanine is a amino acid that helps with the stress and has other effects hat are not yet proven.

The Dr. probably prescribed this drug to a lot of patients because many complained that other drugs which were safer and more effective "left a bad taste" or `"I have to take it twice a day?". There was never any need for this class of drugs except for rare infections and hospitalized patients. Apparanly someone did an experiment on dogs and apparantly the fluoroquinolone antibiotic they used had similar effects on tendons as a dietarily- induced magnesium deficiency:

Due to my simptoms doctors have told me to start taking magnesium, I also was pretty anxious because of this problem (and other stuff that happened to me), and they also told me that the symptoms could be due to anxiety.

I was just given a prescription (500mg) for 10 days of Levaquin. I looked up the side effects and in seeing this video I'm stopping after one dose. I have had scoliosis surgery when I was 15 and do not need any other issues due to a antibiotic. I'm intrigued by everyone that has had problems due to this in their lives. My records now read a "quinolone" allergy when but what I really want is my health back. Everything is out of wack--GI, back pain, joint and tendon problems where there were none. I'm really sorry about this. I was given Cipro about 7 months ago and I received some pretty intense reactions, some of which are still with me today. I am praying that new symptoms don't show up later. Floaters, anxiety (subsided), very poor sleep (a bit better?), muscle fasciculations (gone), joint stiffness and cracks, tendon weakness (lasted about 1 month but I'm still careful with them), probably others that I'm forgetting. I am back to working out moderately so things aren't that bad.

However even though you've been through a lot, you still look quite healthy. It's annoying that when people look at you it seems you're normal, but have no idea whats going on inside.
