The great thing about Jane Austin's characters is that they are so well developed and so real, you can see bits of yourself and other people in them. They are the perfect characters, without having stereotypically perfect personalities. I can't think of another author nearly as ingenious as Austin at this. That's what makes Darcy just so darn lovely... especially during this scene!

I love how the music reflects Lizzy's emotions. It's searching and yearning and somewhat tormented for the first part, and it matches her aimless wanderings as she symbolically awaits the sunrise, seeking answers.

Then, at 2:22, it comes - hope. Hope, and love, striding across the misty fields with purpose, renewed in her eyes, and promising.

That moment is the BEST in any of the movies I've ever seen. It never fails to give me goosebumps. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 this movie!!!!!!!!

Kiera really brought out the willful quality in Lizzie which I didn't get from the BBC version and I've always liked Matthew Macfadyen's Darcy much more. He's much more endearing underneath all that stubbornness and a lot more human. Plus his voice - I could listen to him talk forever! :P

But I also think this one is slightly better than the old one, but they are almost completely different in my opinion... The old one is better for understanding the actual everyday life, while the new one is more for entertainment and romance... Jane Austen wanted her books to show how life actually was like in the early 19th century. :)

I think that is the good point of the '95 version; it is a very good filming of the book. And if you not saw the entire series, you may not say so. It is a 5 hours long movie and has lots of emotion in it. It only takes a while to see it and to feel it. But I can imagine that you have that opinion when you saw only a clip
