  • at 1:30 you can hear the autopilot turning off :)))

  • that looks so comfy to travel over the atlantic in!

  • @mjakes20 I am flying in it soon

  • At 1:30, you can hear the autopilot disconnect... the three rings.

  • @maxudaskin I think that is the A/T

  • @JATO457 No the A/THR is a single chime.

  • tht plane is small, cossey to fly to jfk in! :)

  • if you listen at 1:29 - 1:31 you can hear the autopilot disconnect sound.

  • nice!

  • Were people giving you strange looks when you were pointing the video camera at them?

  • Great video, thank you so much for sharing!

The touchdown noise in the cabin however sounded like someone throwing my grandmothers bone china about haha!

  • Did BA pick up any more passengers from shannon?

  • No.

Anyway, how do you suppose they would get back to Ireland if they did? The return is straight from JFK to LCY.

  • I wasn't aware that shannon was a one way trip.

A 45 minute wait in shannon? I would prefer one journey to JFK.

  • The benefit is that you clear immigration at a more or less empty Shannon and go through the comparatively empty domestic customs at JFK rather than the international one.

  • The idea behind the service is that London City is only 15/20 minutes from Canary Wharf and the City of London, two of the largest business centres in the world. And, as London City is "an airport designed only for short journeys" there is a guaranteed 15 minute checkin time.

  • It's therefore perfectly possible to leave your office in the Wharf 35 minutes before your departure and still make the flight, compared to at least 2.5 hours before a flight from LHR.

For business travellers, that's anything but "stupid."

  • Point taken, 15 minutes check in is impressive, but then you lose an hour in shannon anyway. A departing BA flight from LHR would inevitably arrive into JFK before the LCY flight. The convenience in the service is the location of the airport. I just think that a direct service if feasible would have been better.

  • @EinkOLED but then the flight arriving in JFK still has to go through customs which will take some considerable time in JFK, am I not right?

  • @SweatyFunSeeker US Customs are cleared in Shannon, Ireland and passengers arrive in JFK as domestic pax.

  • @rparksbrown i know us customs are cleared in Shannon, but if you were to time the flight against a flight from LHR to JFK, you would esentially be out in New York city faster

  • 1:30 , if you listen very carefully you can hear the autopilot disconnect warning in the cockpit :)

  • How many cabin crew operate on this flight

  • I think its 3

  • It is 3 - a Cabin Manager and two stewards/esses.

  • yeah yeah and 2 in an emergency

  • absolutely nice........well done BA!!!

  • to my reckoning this only took about 13 seconds longer roll than the LCY takeoff. Quite significant if you look at the runway lengths (although obviously less power will be used in good ole Eire)

  • Yes, but the climb gradient at LCY is probably less lenient than at shannon where the A318 is likely to perform a slightly lower ROC.

  • Alas yes, excuse my ignorance.. I forgot it was to do with climb rates

  • Is that........ Willie walsh on the window seat on the other isle lol!
