  • @muzzatube

...looking to blame this on the West again? The 3 best growing economic powers, China, India and Brasil are the greatest demanders for these types of dams, because they need energy to keep growing...simple as that.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's sad what happens here, eventhough this isn't the first time this happens and probably not the last. In Western-Europe we can't even build dams anymore, lack of space...we get nuclear reactors...also very fun.

  • all bullshit! what's harm in displacing and rehabilitating 0.5 million people which will benefit 3 million people and provide employment to 1 million people! even supreme project has given its nod to go ahead! Fame hungry and attention seeking bitches like Medha Patkar should be publicly hanged!

  • @chickenflu4 ~ You are the most heartless, insensitive, idiotic, ignorant fool I have ever seen respond to a documentary as such; clearly you are a republican, clearly you are one of "them" and clearly you are a complete idiotic ignorant buffoon.

  • this DAAAAAAAAAAAAM. is a mega DAAAAAAAAAAAAAM

  • The project was an World Bank one. From 1985 to 1993, than it left the project and the government went on with it.

  • its just awful to see this...do people know about it....how many lives lost for the greater good

    fuck greater good

i am starting to believe we are heading towards fascism... this is definitely not a sign of democracy....minorities compromised.

  • Unfortunately, compromising the minorities for the good of all others is EXACTLY how democracy works. It's all about what the pampered majority wants, not the crushed few.

  • @Melamoto - But this has not functioned democratically - if it had, there would be representation for all and these people were NOT represented nor considered, ever.

  • sucks

  • This is a real challenge in developing world - how to achieve economic growth without social displacement of rural and tribal people. The Narmada project has been delayed for years because of land activists and court hearings. I also doubt India has a sound mechanism to rehabilitate (read: relocate & re-train to be gainfully employed) displaced people.

  • Thank You very much for your work. This is very educational.
