OK, my earlier post was too long so I had to trim it a lot. Muaythai fighter hardly tuck his chin. He is vulnerable to punches, but he has to watch all weapons from all angles, so some sacrifice has to be made. Again at 4'58" his opponent's stance is near perfect, except for tucking his chin, and not on the balls of both feet. Watch both his feet and the angle to one another. Go back at 42". Duke's rear foot has heel in too much. It should be in, but barely. BTW I'm Thai.
@sportmuaythai You're being very picky there. He's teaching the basis to a completely beginner, someone who must master the basics before they master the advanced finer details. I also train Muay Thai and think this was a great instructional video that teaches a very simple, yet very effective base. And remember, your stance should always be tailored to YOU. What might work for a 145lbs guy who is 5 ft 6 might not work as well for someone who is 6 ft 4 and 220lbs.
Duke may be 4times world champion, but not recognized by any Thai authority. Pls stop at 4'58". Duke is not kicking with his shin. He did not roll his butt. Another obvious tell tale, his toes point straight up. His toes and heel should be parallel horizontally to the floor, and toes not pointed to the ceiling. Duke's left foot should stepped out side his opponent's right foot, knees bent a tad more, and on the ball of his foot. Not flat footed. Will get at the proper stance later
im getting pissed of because every time i go on some type of martial art video theres always idiots getting in arguments about whos a better fighter....
I'm amazed at the number of people commenting on how you'd get taken down in this stance, as (if it weren't obvious already) this is a MUAY THAI stance for exclusive use in purely stand-up competitions. If he were saying that you can use this in an MMA competition, you guys would've had a point.
i keep all my weight on my back leg and stay on ball off my foot on the front leg. is that right cause i do it so i can bloke kicks quicker and if i get kicked in the front leg i can move with it
@djkbutters While the weight back stance is good butters it's usually only used in key points during a fight. Using that stance 100% during a fight is not a smart move. Usually it is employed when you are just inside kicking range allowing to block incoming kicks and stop fast advancing foes with your lead leg pushing kick.
@djkbutters Just watch out for kicks aimed at your back leg since it now holds all your weight. While in this stance you usually will bounce your lead leg up and down to try and throw your opposition off. Be ready to move while in this stance, and be ready to adjust fast because some experienced grapplers will take advantage of this stance.
@luxiukaz you gonna let abain13 talk to you like that? you better reply back to him because that's straight punk to talk back to someone and not back it up.
kick boxing dont came from muay thai at all It came from karate, boxing, and burnese boxing, . I was talking about figthing stance not style . I dont like muay thai because their stance is on two line and make us slower

I got it all backwards...im left handed - my most powerful strike is my left hook, but i also lead with it....
Most powerful kick, left kick..which is my leading leg. Ive been training for too long to change my stance tho :P

too much space, the opponent could easily sweep your legs with a kick then take you to the ground.

@GuitarEchoes Well, it's a Muay Thai stance, not an MMA stance...

Everyone has preferences. Can't argue with you there. No particular style in general is perfect. They all have weaknesses.

Take notice that kick boxing came from Muay Thai and Jeet Kune Do isn't a fighting style. Bruce Lee said so himself.
