  • The harpsichord is badass.

  • I just wanna spank that ass. lol

  • Trent and Tori are friends... And yes, Trent wrote Hurt. He was also very moved when he saw Johnny Cash's version of the song.

  • I miss this Tori :(

  • bring the harpiscord back Tori <3 <3 amazing!

  • Trent & Tori dated in the early 90's. When they broke up, they both emerged powerfully onto the music scene. Nine Inch Nails (Trent's band) album Pretty Hate Machine, and Tori's album Little Earthquakes both make a lot of references to their relationship. Their passion and hurt were real and powerful enough to produce music that helped launch their careers. She references him in more than one album and perfromance. The history is interesting to notice when listening.

  • @lilmisspurr Not true. They hadn't met until 1994, when Tori asked him to sing backing vocals on a song on her second album, Under the Pink. Pretty Hate Machine and Little Earthquakes were both recorded before the two met.

  • @lilmisspurr Tori namechecked NIN on Little Earthquakes. She became friends with Reznor after the fact. She's maintained that she admires his music but if they dated, it was brief, just after Under the Pink came out, as she & Eric Rosse separated just before the tour and by the end of it, she was involved with Mark Hawley, to whom she's still married. I don't think Tori & Reznor had anything special. "Caught a Lite Sneeze" pretty much says it all. I think fans make too much of the connection.

  • @20somethingstories They admired each others music. Tori spoke of a time when she tried to make him dinner at his home (Sharon Tate's old house) and things did not turn out as planned..I agree with you, I think Tori and Trent have an admiration, but they've moved past their "relationship" it is just the fans who are stuck on it.

  • @lilmisspurr Actually they dated after their emergence.... it was 1996 when they dated. Pretty Hate Machine was released originally in 1989 and Little Earthquakes I believe in 1991....However, they are both fans of each other's work. Hence how they came to know one another...

  • @cravingart

if you read the comment by theblueroses0 they seem to be saying that trent had his chance with tori and he missed it... (they were apparently an item years ago or something) at least that is how i interpret it :-)

  • Absolutely Fabulous!

  • why everyone screams and do not listen to this beautiful song!!!! it pisses me off

  • she is totally taking the piss out of reznor at the beginning...lol love it!

  • i saw her 5 years before then

  • @andywhorehall well said, here here

  • this is my favorite cover from Tori- I like it on other Hurt covers when she says "jelly bean"

Trent really f*cked this one up. She is AMAZING :)

  • @theblueroses0 ?? Sorry, but I don't understand your "trent" reference. Can you please inform me? Much thanks :)

  • @cravingart

Trent Reznor is the singer and songwriter of the band "Nine Inch Nails"...he composed "HURT"

  • @artiglioL I'm aware of that.I was asking theblueroses0 what they meant by "Trent really f*cked this one up".

  • THE CURE!!!

  • Its wierd to hear her cover two bands that I hold in my top 10 along with her

  • Oh, and it was here in Tulsa at the historic Brady Theater.

  • I was at this concert Nov. 2nd 1996. BEST concert of hers vie seen, and vie seen her MANY times. Was a pleasure to see her during this "Pele" Era, harpsichord and all. AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • I love you tori!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Iwtchutube Just curious what you meant about Tori being filthy and slutty. Not trying to start an argument, just curious what you're referring to.

  • @Jim1971a Not here so much. Watch her other vids. She uses seduction to lure u in somehow. Her facial expressions, the way she plays her keyboards, legs wide open; the way she breaths heavy (listen 2 her version of I'm on fire"). etc. She doesn't seem wholesome & pure. Some of her music is somewhat entrancing, like Jackie's Strength & Black Dove, but I don't know what it means! What's she trying 2 say? What is her message? "Black Dove" "Black Magic". Is she a witch or something? What do u think?

  • @Iwtchutube Actually, here too her performance is pretty indecent. She's getting a little too hot w/that keyboard, isn't she?! She loves spreading her legs at the audience, doesn't she (See end of the video).

  • @Iwtchutube Maybe its just you and your dirty mind :D

  • @bessiebluebird Nawh... Def not it! But, you are funny... Haha

  • @Iwtchutube I try ;)

  • @Iwtchutube She does have a really nice voice though. That's whay I said she was talented.

  • Nice mashup!

  • Just.......amazing.........

  • Damn, nothing like a girl and her piano!!

  • I wish more artist's today were like her.

  • tori's improvs are always killer!

  • oh, back when i was enthralled by her! Still am, she's awesome. Much love, Tori!

  • she was well and truly out of her mind in 96.

  • lol

  • and you keep saying 'i hurt myself today'

  • Been trying to figure out the improv at the start and there's one part I get stuck on :-( Can't stop Can't stop Boys can't stop When you call me up and say Gingerbread need a little ear today Things are hard out there you say You can't believe what I'm going through I said yea ah huh boy you're the only one who's got it tough today Yes you say But your my little friend (What is this line!?) Anyone have a idea of what these words are?
  • "Got a little ear for my little friend

    And you keep saying..."

Seems to me like Love Song was directed at Trent.

  • @Devilwoman85uk

i think the line is i need a little Eden from my little friend, at least thats how i've been singing it in the shower.

  • She's an amazing performer. You want some robotic band then seek elsewhere. She can cover any band with her own unique style which is why she is so respected. Enough said. Rock on Tori!

  • Um, no, she's never made fun of Robert Smith. She loves The Cure. She likely did the Hurt improv because Trent pissed her off, but then did Lovesong because there's still a part of her that loves him. Or this could be directed at Eric Rosse instead of Trent. Boy you're still pretty when you're putting the damage on...

  • I think it was Eric Rosse that BFP was directed towards.

  • For quite some time, they have been very close friends. Throughout the whole nineties I believe. To the point where Tori was openly complimenting NIN's work and inviting Trent to participate in her albums. They're simply not THAT close anymore. But Trent "pissing" Tori off (or the very opposite) has been mere speculation.

  • Robert wrote the song in 1988 for Mary Poole as a wedding gift... they've been married since 1988 and they're still married. he always writes song for her... in fact most of the songs on Seventeen seconds are about her

i think Tori performed this song because... well... its a good song.

  • lol that was a joke right? she immortalized TR? that could be the dumbest comment ive seen on youtube.

  • Well that was an overall waste of a comment, wasn't it?

  • chazzoo999 ..she used 'hurt' to show symbolism to Trent...hence..they dated....

  • she can. because she's Tori Amos haha

  • tori said in a past live show " the boyfriends told her not to wear a ponytail.... screw them" i dont blame her. she looks good in a pony tail !

  • It sounds more like a response to "Hurt". They sure must have had a thing, because Trent said in an interview that Courtney Love destroyed Trent's and Tori's friendship and this is why Tori wrote Professional Widow for Courtney Love.

  • how did she destroy it? is tori bitter about trent reznor? lol her cover is kinda funny

  • Trent Reznor said that Courtney Love did some sort of malicious thing but I don't know what exactly. But you are right, Tori DOES seem bitter on this cover. Anyway, she had her revenge with Professional Widow.

  • speculate about famous peoples while you ignore your own? no thanks. theyre great but trivial

  • Tori can hit all the mutha fucken notes!

  • Please can somebody tell me what´s she saying at the begining? I can´t understand everything... from gingerbread... I miss what she says after that!...

  • woohoo..this is art...

  • This was the only year she could truly belt notes like that. I don't know whether it damaged her voice or what, but by 98 she couldn't do those high loud notes anymore. I would like to know what happenned. But her voice is still superb no matter what. She can still belt some notes though!

  • She could still belt the high loud notes in 1998! Ever heard Cruel?

  • YOUR RIGHT!!! I forgot! Not to mention the 1999 solo shows. The providence one on youtube... Swear it was 96 all over again. Have a listen!! (smells like teen spirit and juarez)

  • People get older, and their voices tend to change. Take Joni Mitchell for example (granted, she's a smoker), but her voice doesn't sounds completely different today then when she recorded Blue, for instance.

  • I know. It was just such a darastic change between 96 and 98.

  • I like Tori Amos and everything, but what is her deal with Reznor. Did he spurn her advances or something? She always seems a little bitter about him.

  • Some people think The Fragile has songs about her. Maybe they had a relationship and it ended badly for them both?

  • There is much speculation about that & he indicated a tragedy in which he lost someone very close to him in interviews. Hmm.

  • That would be Trent's grandmother.

  • Yeah I heard that too (I think he might have said it in an interview or someone said it about him).

  • He wrote "The Perfect Drug" about her, and apparently he came down from that high...

  • In "Past The Mission" Reznor sings backups vocals.

In "Precious things" she uses the lyrics "nine inch nails"

In "Caught a Lite Sneeze" she references "Pretty Hate Machine".

  • Did he?

  • @boldasb00gnish The Perfect Drug is about Tori Amos? How do you know that?

  • 1:01, another Amos orgasm! xD

  • Great :)

  • I read that Cash nor Reznor created it, can anyone confirm this? im confused!

Whats she singing in the beginning before hurt/love song?

How can anyone not LOVE this woman, she feels like a relative

  • First off TORI IS THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

second johnny cash did an INCREDIBLE cover of hurt about a year before his death it's on the american CD collection i believe disc 4, but it could be disc 1 i'm not sure....either way it is an incredible listen

  • ummmm, hurt is trent's song...johnny cash DID NOT write hurt...he performed it admirably, but hurt is trent's...

  • That Boys for Pele tour was one for the ages. You might not ever again see some of the stuff Tori did that tour.

  • @rscadence I wish I would've been old enough to see tori in 96! That is my fav era of her tunes.

  • I haven't seen this one yet. Gotta love Tori. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • nope, trent reznor wrote it and put it on his 1994 album the downward spiral. cash re-did it much later and changed the meaning entirely. it is a trent reznor song and will always be.

  • I stand corrected - thanks for the info! :O)

  • *correction*..after much research/thought..it seems that trent and tori had no physical relationship..boys for pele is writen after her 9 yr relationship with a douchebag who cheated on her and trent was the shoulder to cry on.but everything i stated about courtney love is true.they banged one nite on tour and he comforted her b/c hes a nice guy but now he cant stand her..Trent and Tori respect each other and he lets her use some of his lyrics

  • Why is it that people assume because Johnny Cash is older that he must have written the song instead of covering it?

  • No, Nine Inch Nails wrote it originally, Johnny Cash covered it.

  • yes it IS a "trent reznor creation"

know ur facts before i open ur mouth and post lies on the internet

  • It's not lies, it's incorrect information which I did not realize it was at the time I wrote my comment. Oddly enough, I have actually thanked those who set that record straight, but for some reason, my response does not show ([shrug]). What is funny is that I initially thought it was a Reznor song for the longest time, then I heard the Johnny Cash version on the radio and indeed assumed it must be a Johnny Cash song since he is so much older than both Tori and Trent... lol You live and learn.

  • Im sorry, but after reading some of these comments, people need to be set straight. I am an avid Trent Reznor fan and I love Tori Amos as well. They had a relationship that didnt work out, but it did not end harshly. Though Courtney Love interfered, he obviously had no deep feelings for her(Courtney). Thus, starfuckers came along. Aimed at Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love. Yet once the video came about, manson and trent decided to settle their differences and remain acquaintances.

  • Tor is the shit! She fucking rocks live.

  • Tori =P typo ;D

  • is thas based on Trent Reznor?

  • what the hell is she playing? it almost kinda sounds like a harpsichord or a clavichord.....its obviously not a piano...

  • Harpsichord. She hasn't toured with it since Dew Drop Inn tour (AFAIK).

  • Sorry about the Atari accident, but the Tori response is the same clip from my 8mm master.

  • You mean the original clip source ?

  • I mean that I shot the video in Tulsa on my 8mm Cannon Camcorder, the "reply" clip that I posted is directly from the master.

  • train wreck righted...

  • great performance, love this cover

    "i will always love you"

  • comatoselucy shut the fuck up cash's version kicked ass respect to mr j.r cash you pice of shit

  • She covered it before Cash and her version kicks his old man version's ass!

  • Johnny Cash's version is even better than NIN's, just ask Trent.

  • I think this intro has to do with Trents drug problems when they were together...?

  • Wait a minute there, please. WHEN was Tori with Trent? This is news!

  • they met in 1992 because they both liked each other's first album and Trent sang back up on UTP. that's when the ysupposedly hooked up down in Mexico. many fans think a lot of the songs on BFP are about him as well as various songs leading right up to Digital Ghost.

if you google both of their names there's a site, i tihnk, called thanatopic or seomthing like that all about it. :)

  • Thank you for responding. However, how could anyone know if they really had an actual (sexual) relationship? In any case, I just had the impression that they were just friends. I also thought that BFP (which is my Bible, by the way) was mainly inspired by Eric Rosse. Anyway, thanks again. And, please, pardon my english, because I am Greek! ;-)

  • your English is fine. :)

most fans think they had an 'actual' relationship based mostly on how Tori and Trent react when the other is mentioned, and on certain songs. nothing substantial, just a feeling, and maybe perhaps wishful yearning. :P

  • I totally agree with you. Are you m of f, my american friend?

  • i love this sooo muchh

  • This was really cool. I can't put that in better words.

  • she was totally criticizing Trent and the "angry male" concept in the intro. good for her.

  • Tori has so much soul. My all time fav

  • Starfuckers, Inc is about Marilyn Manson. A pig is a pig and that's that.

  • Shes great, does any body else see a lot of Bjork in her?

  • Long ago I read that Trent, Bjork and Tori owned a house together in new mexico.

  • wow thats cool! Thats one talented house hold, Doh! should have moved in hehe

  • interesting, where did you read that. Those are like my 3 fav artists

  • ARE YOU BLIND?

  • Starfuckers was written a lot about ROSE MCGOWAN when she was dating MARILYN MANSON..TORI and TRENT REZNOR were good friends at one point...and TORI has always been an avowed CURE fan...

  • This intro is so awesome, it makes me wanna kill myself...

  • Why wasn't this on Strange Little Girls instead of many of the choices which were lame (in my opinion)?

  • Star Fuckers is a referrence to Courtney love

  • She has so much energy here, you can totally tell this is BFP era...and wtf, doesn't Tori own the copyright to the word "starfucker" or something? Damn NIN stealing it...oh well, it's even, I guess, 'cause they're in her songs as well.

  • is she in topless here ??

  • Are you blind? Also, are you stupid?

  • Hahahaha!! I remember the mid-90's. EVEYONE who was into NIN was also into Tori, and vice-versa :) Good times, good times! ...But r u sure that Trent is so malicious as to write "Sarfuckers Inc." about Tori?

  • It is well documented that Starf*ckers was written about Marilyn Manson.

  • Actually, no dude. "Starfuckers Inc." wasn't about Marilyn Manson (if you don't recall, MM HIMSELF was in the video)! But, many fans have come to the conclusion that "No You Don't" was about Marilyn Manson!

  • I know this is a bit late to reply, but starfuckers is actually about Marilyn Manson. it's just that by the time a video was being made for the song, they were no longer bitter with each other, so it became a fun tease kind of joke for them.

  • I don't think so, man. I think it's about Trent. You know he wrote Starfuckers, Inc.

  • This song sounds like the one 311 played.

  • This was a Spiteful attack on Reznor and he replyed with Starfuckers.inc

  • what are you talking about? tori and trent were involved.

  • really?!

  • this wasn't an attack. they were involved and it didn't work out. she wrote "caught a lite sneeze" for him. she said "sometimes after a break up you get the flu, and sometimes it's 'achew!' and it's over"

starfuckers inc. had nothing to do with tori. the lyrics don't indicate it being about her anyway. i can understand how it might look like starfuckers is about her since that is a phrase from one of her songs, but i'm sure it's purely coincidental.

  • This should be from DDI tour, 1996.

  • even a toll road has an end...What year is this 1996? Is this a case of arrested development...or the clash of the ego maniacs...insanity reigns...wisdom prevails...in the hearts of the willing

  • When I saw her cover this in Little Rock, AR in 1996, it brought tears to my eyes. Which city is this footage from?

  • Thank you so much!! I've been waiting for so long to see this back up on youtube. Nothing beats the harpsichord!

  • actually hurt is a NIN song, johnny cash only covered it.

  • I'll be frank: I would like to screw her while she's playing :)

  • I want to *be* that piano bench.

  • Fucking Kick Ass. That is one pissed off bitch....Hell I would be too....Stupid Trent....

  • Why stupid Trent?

there's only two sentence from Hurt and the 2nd one was wrong ^^ sorry to tell dat

  • thank you SO MUCH for putting this back up!!!
