@TheRealRayJ Your comment: "Clapton playing a dread?", as in dreadnought. Yeah, I thought the same. The only other Martin I usually see him with is the concert series model.
Did Knopfler owe any money to Clapton? I mean, it's hard to understand Clapton's behavior during this performance. As far as I can see, Knopfler is his guest on the stage and Clapton does not help him at all. He even strums on Knopfler's solos all the time, not a wink or a smile, a hint to support Knopfler. Also, pace of the song is too fast as if Clapton was willing to finish asap. Not warmth at all. And, when they finish, he quickly vanishes from stage. Am I being paranoid? o_O
i always wonder if mark knopfler even practices a song like this or has any idea of waht he is gunna play/.. i like to think he just shows up tunes his guitar then sits down and does that
@Specter18 I disagree when the crowd starts clapping, at least from an onstage perspective, you get even more into the song that you are playing. At least that is my experience. It is true that most of the people in that crowd are old white people who clearly have no sense of rhythm or timing but still... i think the performer feeds off the energy of the crowd
@dezzishezzi you clearly missed the point of my comment, at any age anyone can appreciate the music im just saying that even thought they are clappin along and it is not to the rhythm of the song the performer feeds off the crowds energy anyway.
Eric wrote the song Layla about his undying love for Patti Boyd Harrison. She however was married to his good friend George Harrison at the time. Time was on Eric‘s side however as he married her 9 years later.

As I adore Knopfler and Clapton, I still like the original version from "Derek and the Dominos" era better.

This is probably the best version of Layla, because its played by two of the best guitarists in the world. Even better than the original recording.

I really hate it when people clap along like that! Not only is it extremely annoying, but it also takes away from the music.

@Readingcoops just because it's the unplugged version of Layla, compared to the Derek and domino's version.

Why unplugged when knopfler is playing electric?
Readingcoops 1 year ago
@Readingcoops
Because it is the unplugged version of Layla. There are two versions, and they're very different.
