Jimmy Carter era was definitely the worst. Inflation and interest rates out of control. Couldn't hardly buy/sell cars or homes. Botched the Middle East hostage rescue. We showed the world who was boss though...we boycotted the Olympics! By the way, democrats controlled everything back then, so they couldn't blame anyone but themselves.

Here's a couple. First: James Buchanan. I mean he nearly allowed the South to seperate from the Union and left the country divided against itself for his successer- Lincoln.

Or George Bush, who will also leave the US extremely diveded and in a state of Crisis for Obama to try to unite.

Or what about Andrew Johnson? He sided with former Confederates and undermined reconstruction after the civil war.

Or Hoover, who failed to prevent or respond to the Great Depression?

Or Nixon- who's criminal activities earned him the title of the only president ever to be forced to leave office?

Carter certainly is not the worst President in our history. I personally think he is one of the best.

This is only true of recent history- the parties switched in the 1900s. Lincoln was a Republican (although if he was a politician today his politics would definitely be much closer to the Democrats).

Also remember that Clinton was impeached, and that Bush somehow managed to be re-elected in 2004 despite low approval ratings, and might somehow have managed it again in 2008 (especially if you incorperate fraud).

It would be better to consider abolishing the party system and party politics.

Obama actually did release his birth certificate to the public. McCain's location of birth is on much shakier ground as he was born in Panama (in Central America, south of Mexico) but certain legislation considered it to be a US territory at the time.
