@coolakiIlen007 Thanks ! Actually it's 24 speed (8 x 3 sets of gears). Same 24 speeds on reverse too. I haven't tried gunning for 88km/h on reverse yet.

@rinsecochon if it's a diesel than it's got glow plugs. no other way to make the initial combustion, it's not like it's gona combust just on pressure alone.

@Choice777 Nope, there's no glow plugs on an OM366A. It did start. I used magic. Works great !

@nutterireland Those doppstadt trac are nice ! I am planning to geta MB Trac 1600 with the swivel seat in a near future. Since I installed a coolant heater, the truck starts right-up with no smoke at as cold as -25 celsius

@rinsecochon thanks but im sorry i dident get a mb trac instead ,its a pain to get some parts off doppstadt .gearbox is zf and axels are raba . i have a mb 900turbo . mb forever :}

die direckteinspritzer lkw motoren von mercedes haben keine vorglühanlage.

die starten auch ohne, nur bei den temperaturen etwas schlechter und mit entsprechender rauchentwicklung.

die aktuellen modelle springen auch bei den temperaturen gut an.

@SP24u Bought the truck from A.C. Price Engineering in Ingleton, UK and shipped it to Canada. I kept the original front plate. Looks better than with the 2 screw holes exposed.

i am wondering if your Unimog engine have glow plugs?i think you should use them before starting an engine like this in the cold weather.It is not good for the engine if you do not use them and that is why diesel engines struggle starting like this one did.Please have more care for your Unimog engine.

@crisp2882 No glow plugs in a OM366A. Don't worry about my engine, this vid was a cold weather test. I do use a coolant heater normally

Thanks for the advice ! This vid was created to showcase the effects of cold weather to folks on a certain Unimog forum. For anything under 5 deg c, I have a battery warmer and a coolant heater. For the tranny, I use a magnetic heater.

Ah OK, -20 for 3 days is very cold indeed!

Disappointing. Is your injection pump timing set right? If it also hesitates to start in warm weather after some time out of action, you might have an air leak.

Everything is fine with the truck, it was just sitting at -20 for 3 days.
