Man, haven't heard this in friggin' years! I used to be in a band with Dan's brother Tom. I still run into Skavanaugh every once in a while. I used to work with him at the Esquire Theater here in St. Louis. I used to get so jealous when he could leave work early to go to a gig! I really need a copy of "Salamander Stew" again!
This song is awesome, Dan P is the man, plus this video has taught me to play most of this song on guitar, If only I could figure out the chords for the "I find it hard to rise above etc" part. Cause there not standard major or minor chords bar chords. Geat video though.
Into 2nd half of verse (Also the slow part same chords but just strummed slow): C, E minor, A minor, C, F, G (in bar chord form between the 5th and 12 fret)
First half of verse and pre verse: G# minor and D# major (bar on 11th fret)
Then the bridge part where he sings the horn line is: A minor (5th fret) and E (7th fret).
Oh and chorus is C, F (both on the 8th fret) and G on the 10th fret)
Hope this helps, I may make a video if enough people are still stumped we will see. Good Luck!
Who remembers seeing this performed at the now defunct BASTILLE'S Night Club in St. Louis? Circa 1993? Oh yeah. I've actually seen this peformed at a Birthday Party. I feel so old now.
