  • even the refs cant stop him!

  • Four minutes for leaving the bench to fight!???! Please lets go back to this!!!!!

  • Barry Beck was really strong and had hands of stone. Gillies and Beck and Fotiu for that matter all had respect for one another. No one was scared of anyone.

To the best of my knowledge, Beck lost to Behn Wilson and not many others. I have not seen or heard of another loss.

Gillies lost a few, but then again, he fought more than Beck and took on all the heavyweights of that time period, except for Beck and Fotiu.

  • Whenever Baxter didn't have to go to the hospital after a fight it was considered a "win"

  • @teddysalad65 you should watch the clip of Fogolen using him as a punching bag.

  • Beck was no doubt one bad dude ! His rookie season on Colorado he just destroyed Paul Holmgren. Destroyed him ! Beck may have had a few draws out there. But never lost a one sided scrap. Never !

  • F him up Barry!

  • Just Found Out Barry Beck is my Uncle by Marriage. Thought that was cool. Always thought he was a tough fighter.

  • Beck Was A mean SOB Who Was the strongest Man To Ever Play the game. The islanders were scared of him, gillies and nystrom never wanted to fight him so they tried to fight guys like maloney and sandstrom and hospodar and thought they were bad in doing so!

Beck once had a fight in the WHL where he took out two guys at the same time in a brawl!

  • like a twerp like you knows anything......

  • in his years of playing baxter fought a lot.. but as the head coach of IFK Helsinki he's turned a traditionally rough-playing team into a bunch of wimps. they haven't had one fight in 25 games, and they're afraid of penalties to a degree of insanity. they just play defence and guys get benched if they take even one 2min penalty. this is blasphemy.. this.. is.. well it isn't sparta. or ice-hockey. baxter has fucked up the team that i love. completely. i hate his guts.

  • Shoot the puck Barry!

  • baxter was quite a fighter in his playing days

  • Hey Barry Beck, no matter what you might think...he was one of the best Rangers to play at the Garden.

  • have you lost your fucking mind!! Barry Beck was an injury plagued bum! We gave the farm away to get him and he did nothing for us. Fuck him

  • I completely disagree, NO ONE wanted to fight Jethro, he was a superb fighter. I can't believe you would mention Barry Beck as one of the best in the league as a pugilist before Terry O'Rielly. That man was dangerous, BIG TIME! Behn Wilson? I would take Nystrom over him any day of the week and not because he was an Islander, but because Nystrom was strong and crazy.

  • Wilson beat Gillies twice, including really laying a beating on him in one of their fights. Wilson also flat-out HANDLED Terry O'Reilly. Barry Beck was FEARED around the league, largely based on the horrific beating he laid on Paul Holmgren, one of the toughest around, during his rookie year. He got plenty of room out there because of it. Nystrom, I agree, was a terrific fighter as well, but I owuldn't say he was better than Wilson, and I hate the Flyers

  • Baxter reminds me a bit of Randy Holt. A rather small guy who just fought anybody, win or lose. Baxter was a more talented defenseman than Holt, but they were similar in temperment.

  • Holt was tough, him and Playfair were good for Buffalo's tough dept.

  • Holt was definitley a tough little guy, fought anyone and everyone--a screw loose for sure...and Playfair was one of the best fighters of the 1980s

  • In the end, it was a 19 year old rookie named Patrick Flatley who drilled Beck into the boards at MSG in the 1984 playoffs that pretty much ended Beck's career. After that hit, he was never the same and never played over 40 games ending his career on a pathetic note with the Kings. Thank you Flats!

  • Beck was the best fighter in the league when he played

  • Wamz never heard of Clarke Gillies lol Gillies is the prototypical player that EVERY team tries to land in a draft. Beck wanted NO part of Clarke.

  • Gillies was one of the best, but Behn Wilson handled him just fine. LOL at Beck wanting no part of him...you know of some incident that supports this conclusion? Doesn't matter either way. Best fighters in the league at that time were Beck, Wilson and Gillies hands down. And all of three of them were the types that feared NO ONE, even each other.

  • It sounded like the Penguin announcer was going to cry.

  • Bubba was very under rated... seen him deck a lot of the big guys from Nilan to Baxter, Rissling, Cox, and more..

  • Bubba was the most underated fighter. Simply put, Beck NEVER lost ! Too bad for all his injuries. He was unbelieveable. Does anyone remember him destroying Marc Tardif while on Colorado? Bubba was a BAD MAN !

  • marc tardif was not a fighter

  • Old school Mike Lange! He always complained when the linesmen wouldn't break up a square off, but when the guys started going he got more excited to announce the fight than almost anyone!

  • Right circle dot shot whistles wide, turn arounder, shift change on the fly.

  • Arschloch sagt, was?

  • The Rangers suck, Barry Beck was a bust, Paul Baxter atleast was a ballsy player. Randy Carlyle was 10000000 times better than Beck.

  • Beck was a great fighter who didn't fight much because opponents were scared shitless of him; Baxter was totally fearless and close to being Steve Durbano-crazy.

  • Bubba.

Right now down in front, Beck and Baxter are both going to go....giving them misconduct penalties ....Beck thinking he's got ten minutes will go after Baxter and HAULS HIM DOWN!!!!

  • Maukasta!

  • Idiootti joukkueelle idiootti valmentaja. Hienoa.

  • tervetuloa baxter kaltaistesi apinoiden joukkoon

  • 470 NHL games and 1564 penalty minutes later he joins HIFK.

  • Sweet! Baxter, welcome to Helsinki IFK!
