more seriously, she suggests that flanders should turn off the lights on the highway, that is completely ridiculous, that electricity is not wasted, electricity of that voltage cannot be stored, and nuclear power stations can not be shut off during the night !
@dancingtomislav not a HAHA joke, i just did not mean it completely seriously, Bennets is completely right about the minister of culture, but her remarks about electricity were both incompetent and slightly xenophobic.
@dancingtomislav asshole :), i said it was NOT HAHA funny, i just wanted to make a remark about what she said about the flemish not knowing how to handle money !, don't you find that slightly unpleasant and arrogant of her ? you really don't understand, do you ? and that remark about electricity was ridicoulous !, that's ALL !! learn english !
@dancingtomislav you keep attacking me, criticizing me, insulting me, and i can't explain my point of view, or defend myself ? i did not start this discussion, did you forgot that ? i just made a little tongue in cheek remark about the video, nothing serious, and you have been harassing me for months ! you made this personal, not me.
The same happend in Spain, they kicked out the Artistic Director of the National Dance Company Nacho Duato. Seems like the minesteries of art dont have any clue how to handle the talent they have below their wings... It really is all going back in time in Europe, This should stop...
@Ztein83 Unfortunately the said truth, in this issue here is that one has to 'overscream' the problem for it to get attention!! That matter is what is really going too far!
Please take some time and forward this to as many of your colleagues, friends and family to get them also to write letters. The more emails that the Minister receives the more chance the Royal Ballet of Flanders has of fighting back.
There are many ways you can make a difference. Your voices do matter. Thankyou.
The Royal Ballet of Flanders is showing their support of Kathryn Bennetts and their frustration towards the governments decisions by writing letters addressed to Joke Schauvliege ( the Minister of Culture). They are asking for your support to take the time to write your own letter to prove to the Minister the impact on the global dance community.
'All the work by the choreographers, dancers, technicians, costume departement, etc is done in their FREE time, because Kathy cannot afford to pay us for this.. All for the love of the arts. It says something about the Ballet of Flanders, about artists and everyone around them. We are passionate about our profession!
But it also says something about our governement. If they would be as passionate as we are, things would better in Flanders and Belgium. Politicians...time wake up'
A dancer's comment to one of the images on Facebook: 'This picture was taken during rehearsals for our Choreographic workshop called Coupe Maison. This is a workshop where the dancers can create their own choreography and put them on stage, to develop their own body language and artistic vision.

A great interview, yet saying that Belgium doesnt understand Art, goes a little far for me, try reasoning with the ministry of culture in Spain!

The email address is
kabinet.schauvliege@vlaanderen.be Please place in the cc of the email kathrynbennetts@balletvlaanderen.be
Important things to be mentioned in the email
1) The Company does not want an Intendant who will do the programming for the ballet
2) The budget should be raised
3)The actual proposition from the Minister of Culture will mean the end of the Royal Ballet of Flanders

She didn't resign as such, this is clearly a case of constructive dismissal. Kathy had not choice when "push came to shove".

this is really devastating!
I really hope she's making the correct choice in resigning and not being too overly dramatic :/
