Its ugly how americans are throwing themselves over Toyota now like vultures trying to reclaim some desperately needed market shares. The all-too-willing media eats every word of it without question. GM and Chrysler promising thousand dollar discounts to those that will denounce the false Japanese prophet and return to the church of american steel. 12 million americans claim to have been abducted by aliens so.. Get in line if you want some credibility by claiming a car acted on its own.
something is fishy here , look japnese made good cars for decades. Some people still buy north american cars , which is normal . then gm failed, news were the look of parking lots in america will change . then japnese people gone bad in making cars? come on people , who is behind this scam /problem? TOYOTA? Its matter of fact I dont think so.
Today, i Rhonda Smith, says Shame on me, Rhonda Smith, for sueing a reliable, efficient, family company like Toyota for quick cash and denting their reputation for safety. Please its not ALL my fault, 90% of the technical set up was orchestrated by Dr Gilbert
The federal safety agency followed up with the new owners last week. A NHTSA spokeswoman said "they have had no problems with the Lexus since they bought it with less than 3,000 miles on the car..."
The Lexus sedan driven by Rhonda Smith, who testified in Congress Tuesday about a harrowing incident of sudden acceleration, is still on the road, according to the National Highway traffic Safety Administration.
In fact, the new owners of the luxury ES350 sedan have reported 27,000 miles trouble-free with the vehicle, according to a NHTSA spokeswoman. Mrs. Smith and her husband sold the vehicle after the incident, in which she thought she might die.
One last thing, any body with half a brain that actually keeps up with modern technology knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with electronics will be 100% flawless. There will ALWAYS be bugs, regardless of who is producing the electronic device or software.
This is why I ONLY but cars with basic features, the more electronic crap that is for LAZY people like roling up and down a window, ect. does nothing but increase chances for gliche/bug. So all you prius owners, welcome to technology you dumbasses.

Mr. Waxman is an idiot, which is not surpising considering he is from California, and we all know how freaking 90% of their govt. officials are retarded and corrupt. Including Arnold, who is simply retarded, should be to rich as is to be corrupted but retarded/stupid is undeniable
Here is why Waxman, said he does not feel they are looking in to this seriously. EVERY Time someone dies from this, they will be sued for millions, so you better belive they do want to fix it. This is common sense
I totally believe that companies should make stuff right. However, I have a question about this procedure here. Is it normal for a car company ppl to go to congress & get interrogated when they have a recall model? My dad owned a Ford mini van which were recalled cause some of that model caught fire on the engine. I didn't see Ford ppl going to the congress & getting interrogated. I thought this sort of things get resolved by ppl suing the company & getting financial compensation or something.
If this procedure is the 1st time for this sort of cases, then I welcome this. Cause this can be a good precedence. So, whenever companies screw up, they get punished. I read recently about a guy got an organ failure by eating GMO, some ppl got neurological damages by H1N1 vaccine & Gardasil, & some kids got screwed by BPA in plastic bottles, etc, so Monsanto, big pharmas, & whoever puts BPA into plastic, etc should also get scrutinized & punished by the congress. This is good.

Would they let Chevrolet, Ford, Saturn get away with not fixing the problems such as these that allow a cause for DEATH?? I say no they wold make them pull the cars off the road untill fixed!! So why do we let Toyota get away with it? Well we wouldn't want to hurt their economy at our expense. They say let the Americans die untill the problems fixes itself. What a double standard.. America is doomed due to our own government!
funny you mention that. ford/gm had more severe problems in the 90's with gas tank placement, where if you hit something wrong, your car would explode, they didnt take cars off the road. toyota has a problem that they are working on and stopped further vehicle production until it is solved. thats detication. so cut it out.
toyota only addressed the problem after our government FORCED them too-this is fact that is easily researched. toyota has spent millions since 02' trying to "sweep it under the floor mat"-and thats why they are in so much trouble.
Dedication is solving the problem before it escilates into this. There have been reports of sudden acceleration with Toyota vehicles since 2002. If they were really dedicated they would have tried to solve the problem then, not until after that highway patrolman died in his Lexus. If they would stop lying and/or blaming others then maybe I would agree with you. Arrogance and a smug attitude will destroy any company.
the recalls are on 05 and later. cut the bollshit. your only knowledge of the "sweeping under the rug" factor is from the media. they also said oprah was dying so stop being so gullible there have been much worse recalls in the past envolving explosions not a software glitch. reprograming will fix the problem.
How do you know were my knowledge comes from. The media hardly ever touched on the sludge issues with various Toyota/Lexus vehicles or the rust problems with Tacoma and Tundra pickups. It takes peoples death for the media to jump on anything.
Keep defending Toyota and blaming the big bad media. Its their own damn fault, get over it.
@skittles: Your mistaken GM recalled all the troubled trucks where the second tank was mounted to close to the outside frame.. They made the recall and fixed the problem real fast... I remember I owned one and it was fixed in 1 week of the announcement.. Nice try... Toyota is looking for ways to get out of the problem by saying they can't figure it out as many Americans are dieing in those stupid cars.. And you want to defend them?? Screw off
my grandmother bought a ford 1 year before i was born. (92) and it was recalled. ford explorer/expedition was recalled in 05 for bursting into flames. say what you want. its a fluke and the media is blowing it way out of proportion. toyota still owns. thats not onna change.

Well i can say that every car we drive contains problems similar to this.
You need proof for everything these days but ask those who experienced near collision with objects when they experience these things.
Toyota probably killed more people but just put it out as an human error. If recalls will not fix these issues what will?
I felt great fear on the woman who nearly had a near death experience when her car went out of control.
Toyota is responsible for every problem regarding the pedals.
