  • My only issue with it is the Dash. I want more organization than provided... like gnome 2.

  • although i don;t totally like unity i like it way better than standard gnome 3

  • I know i bitched alot about unity but now i am finally getting used to it and i actually do like it now.

  • @skilo1983 Cool. I think quite a lot of people had similar feelings about Unity.

Shame those that dislike it are a lot more vocal than those who do like it

  • looks pretty much like a remix of xubuntu

  • Gnome shell is meant to be used with the 3D drivers etc. in the full mode. There's no use IMO even previewing the fall-back version shown here. You can't bash the lack of graphics and good design when you aren't using it as intended

  • hello can you give me a link of all wallpapers you use and the list of programs you have in your dock? i subscribed and liked it so help!

  • @PTontonozi Heres link for my wallpapers quids(dot)imgur(dot)com

The programs I use on a day-to-day basis in my launcher are: Firefox, Tomboy, gTodo, qBitTorrent, and Virtualbox. I keep meaning to do a video showing the programs I have on my system. Cheers

  • @quidsup thank you sir :D

  • sudo apt-get install gnomeshell???? much faster

  • Yap! Honest preview! awesome BosS!!........xD

  • @sabbir2world Cheers mate

  • I gotta agree, awesome honest review.

  • @Justgoodvids Cheers mate

  • Does this have a windows installer.

  • @pschamp723 No I don't think it comes with Wubi

  • @quidsup it has wubi, but its broken

  • @quidsup That stinks

  • I like a very bland Desktop so that's why I like Debian. Yeah if you want the bling of Ubuntu just stay with Ubuntu :) Nice video review mate :)

  • @TheGeo913 Likewise - currently running Debian 5 (oldstable) XFCE on my PowerBook G4!

  • @PuffTheMagicAtheist Awesome!

  • Good vid Quids. I like the Unity. Do you think that perhaps one of the reason's for Unity with the large Icons, is that Ubuntu is leaning more towards getting ready for touch screen?. If so It's perfect. 11.10 has been great and looking forward 12.04. Thanks again.

    Cheers,

  • @TheKC1ML Cheers mate. I've heard that Ubuntu is going to go up against Android, so thats why they're going for an interface more suitable for touch screens

  • @quidsup Thanks mate. For me, I think they're going in the right direction. I'm just amazed that every time I turn the computer on, that all this is FREE!. Being a Ham operator I greatly appreciate the amount of Ham related software already incorporated in Ubuntu as well. Thanks again Quids.

    Cheers,

  • I don't see the point of this. Installing Gnome-shell on the standard 11.10 is a pretty simple exercise.

  • @waynefoutz Yeah true. I think the couple of mins it takes to install Gnome Shell is a lot quicker than it takes to get this distro looking good.

  • Don't think i'll be using this anytime soon...lol Unlike it seems most other Ubuntu users I love using unity and haven't had any major problems with it since way back in 11.04

  • @OmenX13 Same here mate, I really like Unity

  • Thank God..Good riddance Unity! This brings back older computers that Unity bumped off. Simple is good.

  • Gnome 3 Shell hates ATI drivers as well. :( But good review!

  • @NoFreeTechSupport I wonder if its confined to this release of Ubuntu or all Distros with Gnome 3?

I was using the post release update drivers for nvidia until I found it causes x.org to crash. Cheers

  • @quidsup I think it's all version that use Gnome 3. The ATI drivers cause some massive corruption and cause the menu bar to be scrambled and unreadable. I just wish ATI (AMD) would get more on the ball and provide the Linux community a good stable driver. Nvidia seems on it for the most part (currently having issues with a GTX 560 TI crashing left and right.) but I understand us Linux users are in the minority and have to settle for what we get. For now, any how. Cheers back to you!

  • Thanks for the review.definitely will have to try it out.

  • @quidsup Hey quids, I just wanted to say that you're currently one of the best Linux guys on yt, IMHO. Very informative, high quality content, an easy to listen to voice, no repetitive skipping through pre-installed programs, no madman rants and no controller smashing. Pls stay away from the drama as far as you can, thanks =)

(If you bring on a bit more analysis and opinion, and fix this background noise, that would be fine.)

  • @SeltsamerAttraktor Yeah Im definitely keeping away from all the dramas.

I've just bought a new fan controller so that should reduce some of the background noise. I could buy a studio grade mic with some of this months ad revenue. Cheers mate

  • I've been looking for a distro like this for a week now.

  • finally, i cant finally not deal with the bugginess with of the unity in 11.10, cuz im having problems with unity in 11.10. i had less problems in 11.04

  • Like

  • This almost makes GNOME3 feel good :)

  • they should do a remix with new MATE desktop

  • @ADIMM0 I completely agree.
