  • But remember beetles weigh under a tonne so that size engine in a small car will give alot of people a shock ;)

  • Sounds likes your using C35 CAMS

  • 104 hp? you're losing a lot somewhere, mine puts out around 190 hp at the crank

  • @nitrojetta 190 hp at the crank is still about 150~140 at the wheel (not bad though)

  • how much torque?

  • perfect bug! looks great and big engine in the back u have made the perfect bug

  • yo 1137rr......UR A FUKIN DICK

  • @matt31031 You must be an expert.

  • @matt31031 Your a fucking idiot. I'm trying to give the guy a complement. Not put him down. A 104 hp does sound low but if the torque is high this could be a screammer. A friend of mine has a 63 with a 1776 I think he has the standered performance stuff. 110 engle cam daul 40 delortoes and a header with daul tips. swing axle trans with stock gears and ring and pinion. But he's got real small tires on it 195x45x15. But from a standing start this thing screams up to about 80 to 90 mph.

  • deixa eu ganhar na mega-sena,o meu vai ficar assim bem lokooooo parabéns

  • top speed on km/h ???

  • MARAVILHOSO !

  • 1776 is a inexpensive combo and they scream in a swing axle combo. And probably put out about 80 to 90hp. My friends got a 65 bug with 1776 and daul 40's and he killed my BMW 320i. and his car had a miss in it at the time. Its because the car weighs all of about 1500lbs or less

  • I have a 1987 porsche 911 turbo bodied car and it puts out 217hp from the factory. I was a little dissapointed in these HP figures. But I've since ran up against cars that were higher and was able to run even with them or beat them And its because of the weight of the car its the heaviest of those cars at the time with a 2600lbs weight. its convertable. The hardtops are 2100lbs. Power to weight is definintely a factor. How nmany 1776 engines are out there. With some 40 daul carbs and a 110 cam

  • i no a guy who runs 11.2 quarter miles, in a street legal '56 oval, and his car only makes 140hp so it shows that hp really doesn't matter

  • Yeah he should be making around 200+ hp with around 180 lbs torque so something is not right, either his engine is all out of whack, the dyno isn't right or something else but he should not be getting numbers that low with that big o a motor.

  • nice lookin bug man, screw everyone else :D .

  • Hey everyone. I was on the side of the guy that owns this car and posted this vid. alot of people slammed him because his horse power numbers were low for the size engine he has. I have owned atleast about a dozen air cooled vDubs. I know what they are capable of and really dig them. I just said maybe the dyno was out of cal. Or he has some real strong torque numbers. So I'm on your side 63 beetle keep posting updates of your car. It looks like a fun project

  • Try Auto Craft East in Marlborough Mass. for your 300+ HP VW.

  • Wow! Really 1137rr? A 2300cc can get up to 200 HP? First of all, I don't know what crank and piston combo I can pull off the shelves to get that cc. However, I do know how to get 2332 ccs though (84x94). For the horsepower numbers, with enough money, time, research, and a complex understanding of how internal combustion engines produce power and how and where to free it up, the sky is the limit. I personally know of all out race, all motor 2332s in the 280 + range and 260 - street + exotic fuels

  • where are ur shop. i want to tune my bug

  • If you could stick an RB30DET. Then I will be surprised.

  • beautiful

  • wow k le an hecho por diosss

  • lol i thought it was a mild car but once he hit the peddle it came alive almost didnt know it was running for a sec then bam!

  • yea herbie is back lol

  • Where can you purchase the 911 fan set up?

  • @srok62 google it, I am sure you can find them.

  • 2332 is stock vw case just bigger crank and pistons : 84mm X 94mm = 2332cc

    ALL VW NOT PORSCHE!

Dyno's are the shit you can find out where you make your power so then you

know how far to take your beast up in RPM's.

2332 built well should make 200+ bhp that means 12,13's - in the 1/4 w/ ok driver

  • Sweet '63. I would like to see the inside of it.

  • Nei, nei, det Maschinchen wird wohl nich lange lofen!

  • Is this a 2.3 flat 6 porsche engine?

  • @youiable No, that is a stroked VW flat four.

He is just using a 911 type fan shroud for better cooling.

  • Thats a super nice car !.

  • only 104.5 bhp? thats like total rubbish. this car should produce 240hp with proper internals!

  • top speeed?

  • @PeterQ9406 why would top speed matter? the only time anyone ever wants to top out is if there at the salt flats

  • Hell yah!

  • Just do the math a beetle with more than 100 horsepower is gonna rip. No weight plus horespower and torque, call a lumber jack cause your gonna get some wood.

just type in sleeper bug and watch that shit box run 13's in the 1/4 all day long.

    Dyno Shmyno...

  • wow. what's up with 1137rr? why is it that when I come to see a sweet car, there is some a-hole trying to show how smart they are by flaming the poster?

I say it's a nice setup, and good job!

  • There will always be something or someone bigger or faster or nicer as long as you have fun and you are proud of your car thats all that matters . My dad built and raced VWs for 30 years and Ive seen many bugs whip Big block and small block cars ford chevy or dodge on the track and off . The reason is Bugs usually hole shot and if a car has good power and set up they usually jump out ahead far enough its hard to catch them . Bugs are usually good 1/8th mile cars and are under estimated.

  • you can use a 94mm (milimeters) pistons in a original volkswagen air engine, you just need to open more the chambers, so your bug will have like 2300cc, but you have to use two carburetors at least, and increase the compress level of the engine. the bug will fly man!, he is a very lightweight car, like 850kg. i don't speak english very well, but i lovee bugs! (says "Fusca" in portuguese)

    Diego

    Brasil

  • It's still over twice the power that it had when it was stock.

  • O'Yeah the horse power numbers don't look that impressive. But I bet the torque numbers look very interesting

  • For everybody here. Horse power numbers are a joke. The way a chassis dyno is suppose to be used is to tune a car while its running in a parked position so you can make quick adjustments to increase performance. So your looking for a change of state. Dynos can be calabrated to show a wide range of horse power numbers. The best test is to take it to the track and see what it does in the real world. Post your quarter or eighth mile times. That tells the truth about the performance of a vehicle

  • @1137rr guarantee its putting out more then 104 tbh, lol

  • @1137rr You know, but in the track the driver counts, so thats the deal, i think this is the best way to do it.

  • @1137rr What the fuck are you talking about? The car is altered and everybody can see it. This 104hp is not impressive, some alterations in a beetle engine with 2300cc displacement can give to the engine an incredible power of 200hp. With Air refrigeration... Search for "Fusca 2.3" Fusca = Beetle in portuguese (You'll probably find the garagem do bellote, his fusca runs with alcohool and has 200+hp)

  • @1137rr, while i COMPLETELY understand what you are saying, if the unit has been calibrated in the last 5 years it is just fine, and depending on the software, very close. and this is coming from someone who owns a GSX. you know, as well as i do, that this is static, not field. are you not familiar w/ the scientific method? math is math is math. if this dino isn't about to fall apart, especially if it is hydro-static, the numbers are more than close enough. quit being a bleeding twat

  • @1137rr I totally agree...however Alot of guys use the dyno as a tool to see what the engine puts to the ground, from there its all about Putting it to the ground and making it do what they want it to do...Im a sand guy and from what ive heard a 20+ % hp loss is expected from crank to wheels. My 2332 with 10.5 compression made 168 @ the crank...however in my 900lb rail it moves pretty good, Id love to transplant it to a sedan and drive it around town:)

  • @1137rr

Too many modified mag readers in this world that do not understand what you just said. So many fake sky high power numbers posted that don't mean jack in the real world.

  • @1137rr That's right man... Exactly how I'm thinking...

  • I am not a fan of the euro look, but it is very clean looking. And it is most likely a type 1 vw case, just 84x94.

  • This is a low Ho for that engine size, you should be in the 140 - 155HP rage. May need better tune. NIce Bug.

  • the largest Bug motor was a 1600

  • did the 2.3L came in a Bug or is it a porsche engine?

  • damn bro thats the nicest sounding bug ive seen on youtube. makes me want another one i had a 59 and a 72 miss em both.

  • sweet paint job

  • for a start its not a 1641 its a 2332 and you can get way more than 104 hp ive seen up to 150hp on a bug...

  • It;s not displacment that gives you horsepower it's compression. When I was a teen I took out many Chev 350's with a little Ford 289 with 10:1 of course though I was always breaking driverside motormounts. VW's rule. I love watching an innocent little bug blow the doors off a new vette. And I can just imagine the Vette owner takin car back to the dealer sayin "something is wrong with this Vette man I want my money back"..... Oh Yeah!

  • so your N/A 1.8 liter with 10:1 compression is going to beat my 427 with 9:1 compression?

  • Ha Ha Ha That is a question that can only be answered at the track! But remember this...embarrasment can run either way at the track...you should know that by now.Dont forgot power to weight ratios that is the true difference. Thanks for the question

  • that question can be answered right here and the answer is no.

GM out performs ford by the way, all the time.

  • That's pretty ignorant. Sounds about right for a Glamis duner.

  • Dont you mean "Ignant" like your wigger kind says? Go pretend to be ice cube some more, kid.

  • Maybe not a 1800cc but a 2300cc (2.3L) in a bug with the right chassis setup. The bug only weights 1700lbs stock.

  • thats a power to weight ratio issue, and has nothing to do with motor compression

  • Well you did say beat. Not make more HP.

But if you want to talk purely CR then of course a 7L @ 9:1 is gonna put down more than a 1.8L @ 10:1. Thats an extra 5.2L on your side. lol

But Given the same engine size, Higher compression WILL make more HP.

Where did you get 1.8L from anyway? Jascostello1 was talking about 289's

  • 1.8 was just a random figure, i dont really know what i was thinking. beetles rule.

  • @XxGlamisDunerxX

    Theres other factors.

Like car weight, drive train type, fuel, RPM, whole bunch of other stuff that your not considering.

  • @AYEcorolla that wasnt the point of the discussion

  • thank you for the laugh on your compression vs displacement theory

  • It is a fact...if you take two engines of equal displacment, one with high compression and one with low compression...which one do you think will make more horsepower? Least we not forget also power to weight ratios as well.I'm not a "Chev" guy...I'm not a "Ford" guy,I love them all cause engines are basically the same...to think otherwise is foolish.

  • well firstly your going to want to majorly port your heads, this will increase airflow. also match port your manifolds. im running 48 IDA's which are running 28 venturies and are jetted to my 1641...dont know your spec so cant really help you much more?

what is your spec send me a private message :D

  • my 1641 puts out 104bhp so this is not 2332 that makes 104.5...mine is built for racing aswell...

  • DAMN...thats a sleeper

  • those tail lights are on a 63, those are blade bumpers and yess its a porsche fan,

what do you think the lights came off of?

also dont think a 1776 can put out over 100 with stock heads, my 1776 has large valve heads and im putting out around 93. and hte motor is far from stock.

  • i have a a1776 with duel 40 IDF and a special grind cam and when it was dynoed i was making 90 so i think 100hp on a 1776 is do able

  • holy shit

  • Did not read all the comments, but those are not 63 tail lights and bumpers.. Fan looks really familiar to the Porsche 911 set up??

  • looks like European bumpers.

  • What type of fan setup do you have going, what type i want to convert mine that way to free up some room.

  • i saw 1776 do 101 w/ stock valve size with mild porting,,,,are u sure about this numbers???

  • That's pretty weak for a 2332cc, considering there are 1915cc's that put down 130hp to the wheels, which means about 160 at the crank... stock heads?

  • 2332cc rerally fuckkkkk!

  • simplemente Hermoso.... simply beautiful

¿donde puedo consegir un motor de esos para mi vw?.... Where could get one as this motor for my vw?

  • Fantastic engine and sound...

  • Is his car even strapped down? those are low number for a 2L+ motor, im hoping to put down that much with the 1915 in my square.

  • mint that like the plate too

  • 155hp on my 2332 single zenith carb.

  • sexy

  • I want one!!

  • u can also stroke em for more

  • OMFG what a sound, but 104.5hp and 78kw was litle for that sound... a 1915cc can be 120hp...

  • A 1915 with a turbo maybe. i could be mistaken, but i haven't seen a stock turnkey 1915 with over 120hp. feel free to correct me here.

  • thats bullshit..

  • That is truly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow!!

  • Nice sound!

  • typ 1 or typ 4 ??!!??

    phat Boy ???

  • My guess is a type4 engine with porsche blower installed

  • That seems to be kinda low numbers for that sized engine...

What are the specs on it?

    Just curious... Nice car !!

  • Fat Boy Rox!
