This game came before Mario Paint. I'd say Nintendo took this concept and improved it, not the other way around. Sega wins one for originality and Nintendo wins one for execution.

In the case of Art Alive I really don't think it was meant to rip off Mario Paint because Sega's game was made first. Nintendo didn't introduce the SNES Mouse until Mario Paint came out so that's why Art Alive still uses a regular controller. The real copy is Wacky Worlds because it came out after Mario Paint and that was the game that Sega created their own mouse for.

The sad thing is, with my autism, I had absolutely no idea how any game can be bad...I actually BOUGHT this game when I was 8...I'm glad I sold the damned thing in 2005 when I found a GamePlaze in Michigan.

A division of Sega called Sega Club did give a go at he creative mind market with Wacky Worlds. Often called Sonic's Wacky Worlds since he was on the cover art. Anyway this was one of the few games that did make use of the mouse controller. You pretty much have Sonice in a UFO pick a planet and then make it to your liking. I don'r recall a paint feature but there is a few bits of fun there. It may not have done as well as Mario Paint, but I'm sure it was better than Art Alive

The Mega Mouse was released eventually.

And I consider Wacky Worlds more of their answer to Mario Paint. It also has Sonic, Tails, ToeJam, Earl, Ecco the Dolphin, and that random walking guy!

It is pretty much only a sticker book though.
