I just discovered The Idan Raichel Project (the eponymous CD) through my local library, and I am very, very impressed. The wealth of melody, the diversity of the musicians, the compelling quality of the arrangements...everything is topnotch.

However, one song the album lacked is this one--"She'eriot Shel Ha'Chaim", so I am very much obliged to Helicon Records for posting it here. It's just gorgeous!

Though I have the previous album which I adore, this is the first time I've heard this new song. Idan has this insane ability to understate the song so that melody and voice is the most important thing. But then when you focus on the music behind the voice , you get the most tasteful, haunting, beautiful sounds that take you to another place. His songs are individual pieces of art and I can't get enough of it. That man has the abiity to touch us all and that is the joy of music.
