During ww2 we were neutral (like the rest of the north was at first) But during the winter war (Finland vs SovietRussia) almost 10.000 volunteer soldiers helped finland and about 300 helped Norwegian resistance... I know its not much in the big picture, but atleast some swedes had the guts to help our dear neighbors

Don't forget, in close combat none was more fearsome or deadly than the danish and their huge battleaxes, with could cleave shields and skulls alike, as they attacked the leader would allways be in front with the most battlehardend warriors, attacking in a wedge formation (looks like a big triangel) to break into the enemy lines where none could match them.

Norwegian > Danish > Swedish vikings---this is not correct. during the time of the vikings, there was no such thing as Norwegian. The origins of the vikings lie with the danes whom colonised allmost all of scandinavia and established what we today call Norway furthermore their domains stretched all the way from denmark to norway wich means they allso colonised Sweden and Finland

the danes also colonised Island and then proceded to start on greenland, this was before the Renaissance(around the 8th to 9th century) so the world was alot warmer then, wich allowed them to survive in greenland's climate... but i digress...

how come so many people don´t understand what vikings were. i guess many of you people also think the sails of their ships had the same symbol and colours as their countries flag today. the christians splitted our countries, swedish vikings just likely made settlements on danish land, that would make them danes, or swedish vikings could have wandered to norweigan land to live there. same with the norweigans and danish. vikings spoke the same, their ships were the same. it honestly doesn´t matter

@RedDome666 Lol what ? no we was officially a country in the end of 1500s. Before that we were just some different kinda tribes. Like Norrländarna, Svearna and Götarna. Götarna won the war between Svea and Götarna, but then We changed capital city from Göteborg to Stockholm cuz Göteborg was so easy to take. So we changed name to Sverige cuz Stockholm lies in Svea.

@Resp4wn37 Actually no, Göteborg wasn't founded until 1621 so it was never the capital of Sweden. You could be thinking of Skara which was an important city in Götaland (and founded 988) and if I recall correctly an important political site for the Götarna.

@Resp4wn37 Sweden was constituted as a nation in medieval ages yes but long before it was known as Svitjod.
Anyhow, nordic people brought down the roman empire (goths), defeated Atilla (Ostrogoths) partly founded modern Spain (visigoths were nobels for 100 of years in Spain) and also founded modern Russia (Rurik- Kievan Rus, Novgorod etc).

They're all a demonstration of the great adaptability of humanity and its genetic richness.... a richness wich is often mistaken as a weakness instead of an evolutionary advantage. But i fear we would need an alien race in order to understand it.

Human->European-Swedish.
