  • TODAY I AM SAD. SEPTEMBER 18 2011 IN NEW ZEALAND 41 YEARS AGO TODAY JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX PASSED AWAY. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOUUUUUU. YOU ARE ONE OF KIND. I AM FINDING TYPING HARD THERE ARE TEARS IN MY EYES.

  • now this is MUSIC

  • does anyone else think he's singing about staying up all night and smoking weed!!

  • @nateman1370

  • V!

  • Great Bass!

  • Lisergic sound

  • Jimi and a Flying V..... fuck yea.

  • LSD.

  • @765tony They were kindred spirits.

  • Amazing!

  • whats with the no solo?

  • thats one beautiful guitar riff.

  • this one has Hendrix on keyboards...

  • @765tony RIP for the whole Experience too.

  • Stop talking about fucking JB, i dont say his name because that would be ironic, let's call him "he who must not be named"

  • @marl07 or we can just stop talking about him lol

  • @marl07 that's an insult to Voldemort.

  • @marl07 jeff buckley?

  • @marl07 he's the "YOU KNOW WHO"

  • I play this when I'm feelin blue and don't feel like talking or anything. Just tune out and listen to this.

  • AHHHH! yeah Jimi sing/play it

  • The lonliness in my heart resonates so well with the pangs of Jimi's in this song.

  • why is everyone always complaining about the current state of things? deal with it or make it better if its so bad

  • @snidleywinterbottom amen brother

  • this song is simly magic, although the sound of the video is not good.

i suppose it is a playback, especially because there was no small "micro"phones at that time.

  • What makes Hendrix so special ,even now, is his total package of material not to mention killer guitar playing. I think Prince came as close to his magic as anyone. But Jimi didn't have all the toys we have now. Just his enormous imagination. That's what I want to copy . Not just the riffs. If only I could create beautiful timeless music like this. Great little band the Experience.

  • @romienomie

you know hendrix recorded all of Are You Experienced on a 4-track recorder? Legend. I have experimented for hours ping-ponging tracks onto 1 to make space for more sounds. Incredible genious work he did. Was the ultimate at the time.

  • Today is the day Jimi Hendrix died 40 years ago. R.I.P

  • I got caught smoking weed to this song when I was 14. Title was a weird coincidence.lol

  • @coolsk83rjay Burning of the midnight spliff.

  • @tommytimiv hohoho! gosta have my midnight spliff.

  • 7/10 for trolling, KombiPode.

  • @Lazersetcetera hmm maybe 8/10, was a decent effort...

  • Was Jimi Hendrix ever considered sexy?

  • @realmofblood yes

  • @gotgreg92 damn i guess its the hair and the side burns that make him look sexy but over all im pretty sure he was just a nice guy

  • @realmofblood

yes, some famous chick said he was the sexiest man who ever walked the planet

  • @KIDAmnesiacBends i see. i love his afro.

  • was sent home from school for wearin a hendrix T in '69....12 yrs old...

  • your audio is so shit you can go fuck yourself for wasting my time you fucking loser.

  • @KombiPode waht's amatter dood too prehistoric for u and the rest of the Bieber crowd? It's a "promo" taking from a rough vid.

  • @MrTubejockey

Bieber is better the Michael Johsons AND Jimi Hendrix together. He is a GOD of dance. More charasmatic than elvis Presli.

Justin Beiber is the biggest thing in music history for 100 years, across all jazz and clazzical genres. Justin Beiber. Legend alive today not like you old losers moaning after dead people. You are all going to die anyway. beiber doesnt need losers like you!

  • @KombiPode hahahahahahahahhahahahaahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha i'm not going to diss justin bieber. But what are you talking about "dead people". Hendrix lives through his music. How will justin bieber keep spreading peace and nirvana after he's gone?

  • @KombiPode FUCK Bieber get the fuck off this video talking about that little washed up pussy. Jimi Hendrix had more talent in his little toe than that corporate queer has in his whole family.

  • @StratoBlaster420

Bieber is brilliant. Hae you seen him play guitar. You obviously are just biased because you dont like his style. he is way better than hendrix and the record sales speak for that!

  • @KombiPode I've seen him he plays like a douche. He sings like a girl, that's why his record sales are higher because there's more stupid little girls than there are people who understand immensely talented musical composition and expression! Justin Bieber will still be gettin' shitted on talent-wise by Jimi Hendrix for the rest of his lifetime and Hendrix has been dead 40 years!

  • @StratoBlaster420

WHATEVER man. The numbers speak for themselves. Beiber is a rock legend and the whole 60s,. 70s crap pales in his record sales WHY? Obviously because millions of people know how awesome Beiber is.

Dickhead you still letting me piss on your leg? I am lending you.

  • @KombiPode You're fucking retarded. You're lending me? Wtf? Did I just get trolled or are you that stupid that you can't word a sentence to convey any meaning to another human being?

  • @StratoBlaster420

what is scarey is that there is even someone who accepts that it is possible to see someone posting that they think Beiber is bigger than Hendrix. that says alot about the current state and I share the tears with you.

  • @KombiPode Phew, okay good. You scared me. You're right, our schools need better musical education or something because popular music is pretty much dead in the USA. I think it's because all the free music people can get. Record lables won't sign anyone they don't think is going to be accepted among many millions of people instantly. With complex music you don't get everyone's liking but you have music with integrity.

  • OMG I WANT TO LEARN TO PLAY THIS SONG MAN, I FEEL LIKE A RODEY LMAO

  • It looks like 9 left-handed people watched this video and missed the good button.

  • You know I didn't care for this song the first time I heard it on the album. I guess I was just being stupid, I don't know. But I can physically feel this song now. This should be the national anthem. Loneliness is such a draaaaaaaag.

  • How would that be if there was a bunch of video of Jimi playing this V like Michael Schenker

  • what effect is that?

  • from one of the greatest albums ever recorded. listen on lsd.

  • @crazeebat16 What's awesome about him is that you don't actually have to be high to feel "The Jimi Hendrix Experience".

  • @hafrox Yes, you don't have to be "high" necessarily to listen to The Jimi Hendrix Experience, but it gives you a better physical understanding of the music, feeling.

  • @crazeebat16 that was jimis least favorite album too.

  • @crazeebat16

    I'll pass.

  • @crazeebat16 lsd? That like an ipod or sumfin??

  • @eamonreillydotcom LSD is a drug that makes you see crazy shit.

  • @thejoj96 i know dat. when people try to make drugs seem cool, i always take the piss. you don't need lsd to listen to anything....

  • @crazeebat16 yeah i once read that some musicians of those times who were on lsd tried to make music that represented how life with lsd was...the music was confusing and hypnotic, just like the LSD....interesting,huh?

  • This was Jimi's favorite song of his.

  • It remebers me a little bit of Castlevania game music...those harpsichord. :D

  • A fantastic, psychadelic song. One of Jimi's best I think, with that hand-painted Flying V, Jimi is God!

  • This song is so fvcking good! Shame the performance is mimed and soulless though.

  • Whoa, Jimi without a Strat!

  • @lukat93 early on, Jimi sometimes played a 67 Gibson Flying V.

    That's what you're seeing here....

  • love mitch's drumming in this so much!

  • wow, this is so cool... obviously

  • this song is so good yah that's about it - Go ImSpiFF!! smack em silly!!!

  • I remember seeing a Christmas promotional poster for Electric Ladyland with Jimi wearing a white beard and Santa hat holding a copy of the album. RIP JIMI

  • I like how since he doesn't have a wah and they are probably playing to a recording he improvises and uses the whamy bar to make it more realistic for the viewer. It's just a prom but hes still aware.

  • Oh I love this song so much!

  • Too bad such a prolific talent had to leave so soon. But isn't that the way it goes. Jesus, Alexander the Great, JFk, Martin Luther King. Jimi, and on and on.

  • @romienomie Every1 who was considered great die ridiculously early simply because there is nothing left for them to fulfill, I think they leave so soon so their legacy can be relived over and over by the generations to come. But thats just me. What do you think?

  • @iverson25allen i think in death they get rewarded actually because its the transfiguration they've been pressing to their whole lives

  • @2unit I never looked at it like that before o.o.

  • @romienomie yeah..theres always some douche bag that has to be in the way of their talent..i smack the douche bags

  • Love this as well as electric ladyland, fire and castles made of sand.Hendrix was so good, this is awesome!

  • i love hendrix come back the lifeee

  • Nice- my favourite hendrix track, with vodoo chile slight return in close second!

  • mitch mitchell, noel redding and mr jimi hendrix!

    doess it get any better

  • well maybe replace noel redding with billy cox

  • Jimi was THE guitar god , but he didn't really get the credit for his lyrics that he should have. The lyrics here stand as a strange poetry. So did the lyrics in Little Wing and others.

  • i heard for most songs he had five pages of lyrics, but had to cut it down for the album. Basically writing a short story/poem

  • What band sampled this song? Anybody Know?

  • Love it. The god of guitar !!!!!!!

  • Great vid of a awsome song.

Funny how Noel is in the promo when he quit in the middle of making this album and Jimi had to finish up a lot of the bass work himself.

    Thanks!

Oh yeah datboicuz - he was looking at you...and everyone else too.

    LOL!

    hey pass that over here...

  • i got a chill at 2:32 when jimi's eyes caught the camera.. it felt like he was looking at me.. R.I.P.

  • When comparing please try to remember that Hendrix's recording/touring career only spanned 4 YEARS. Look at the sheer volume of music he created in that time!! He was an almost limitless wellspring of music. I own most of his catalog, so far 22albums of music done in those 4 years. If you compare Hendrix to Clapton, Beck, Page, Vai,Satriani, VanHalen then do it based on ONLY 4 years of their recordings. Based on that who was the best, most inovative, most creative ?? Hendrix was !!! Hands down.

  • Well said. Clapton, Beck, etc.. were never songwriters really. Hendrix did only 6 albums: 1) Are You Experienced 2) Axis: Bold As Love 3) Electric Ladyland 4) Smash Hits (singles collection) 5) Band Of Gypsies 6) The Cry Of Love (he died as he was finishing it). Beware of the numberless albums that came out after he died, a lot of it is stuff that Hendrix would have never released, except for a few live recordings (Monterey) and a few tracks that apppeared on War Heroes, Rainbow Bridge, etc...

  • im agreein with kmfdm1967 i couldnt of said it better

  • STFU comparing other people to hendrix. he is astronomically more talented than even his closest competitor which imo is SRV

  • SRV did nothing but blues and mostly in one key. He had a small handful of Albert King licks he recycled non-stop. Had SRV lived he would still be playing blues. No disrespect to SRV, (he was great at what he did) but he did nothing to advance music. He did nothing original except be one of the few white dudes to play blues and not look and sound fake. He was also clean and fast.

  • hes not a god, but the guitar god!

    R.I.P. Jimi Hendrix

  • Can Hendrix be considered an electric guitar virtuoso like Satriani or Vai?

I think that Joe's and Steve's technic are better then Jimi's, but I don't have knowledge enough to affirmate this with sure.

  • @luisrocha26 The thing is, Jimi is the Pioneer, and also, there's the fact that he play guitar and sing at the same time, that is very hard.

  • Jimi Hendrix was influence of a lot of guitarists including Joe Satriani and Steve Vai

  • I agree with Mateubasodwhatever... Although Steve Vai can play guitar and sing just as good as Hendrix *IMO*. If you are going to look at it through a technical point of view, back then, technical skill wasn't as evolved as it is now, so you can't really compare them for that... You can't really compare many guitarists like that. Satch, Vai, and Hendrix were all great songwriters (and are, for the first two). The thing is, its all opinion, you can't compare.

  • we miss you jimi... rest in peace

  • words can't begin to express how much Jimi's music has been a part of my life, often imitated, NEVER duplicated!!

  • I grew up with this song...and tends to make sense every year...

  • makes me cry

  • the best!! ever!! playing any song... love Jimi

  • epic

  • That guitar sounds cool. Jimi playing it sounds even more cool.

  • Don't well all brah.

  • haha, funny how they cut out the solo right from the start.. just like that =) oh the times..

  • FLYIG V!!!!! Favorite guitar ever. love the design on it too

  • glad to see there's some fellow skaters checking out jimi on here

  • the intro blew my mind, i loved how the drums kicked in

    R.I.P Jimi and Mitch

  • " Soon time will tell, about the circus in the wishing well..." mmmmmmmmmmmmm, awesome lyrics.

i feel like burning a midnight lamp to this song right now, if you know what i mean...

  • Got you man!

  • haha i remember hearing this in an emerica video but didnt know it was hendrix. its only appropriate that a skateboard god skates to the music of a guitar god

  • Andrew Reynolds part =)

    Good song overall

  • reynolds owns to this song

  • The boss skating to this song... perfection.

  • Comment removed

  • @LurkKlerk

first time i ever heard this was on reynolds part....amazing loved it ever since

  • 9-18-70

    come back jimi :(

  • so funny how one of us can be larger then life

  • It seems rather odd that he would do a promo for "Burning" because if he;s playing the flying V it would have to be after his woodstock performance wouldn't it? I don't think he used it until around the Isle of Wight festival. I could be wrong but it's just odd that he would do a promo about a year or so after the album came out.

  • some people rag on the recording of this song... but imo i feel like it was intended... when the chorus hits it seems perfect

  • i thought i was the only one but the chorus reminds me of jimis life in general

  • First time I heard this song,

it gave me chills running all over my body.

The Guitar God ! Jimi Hendrix !

    Forever !

  • Theee master x peace x

  • The intro was ripped off by Elbow for One Day Like This.

  • It sounds a bit like it, but I don't think they actually ripped it off

  • loneliness is such a drag...

  • Wait, is that a Flying V that Hendrix is playing???

    Don't Gibson make those???

Oh, so Hendrix didn't get into his famous Fender Strats till later...

  • i also saw him play a gibson sg in another concert while he was playing sunshine of your love

  • Well that particular flying v was custom made by hendrix himself

  • no he used a stratcaster before a flying v

  • they all give different tones and yeah later on he got into the V

  • This is my favourite hendrix song. The bassline is kickass.

  • This is visually the simplified version. There was much more going on in the studio to create this great song. There just aren't words to explain the scope of Jimi's (and crew) creative imagination(s).

Also a huge credit to Eddie Kramer's top-shelf talent.

  • sad that they are all gone

  • Yeah but we get to see them all jamming at the pearly gates!!!

    (one hopes)

    ;)

    JBirdy

  • pretty much a music video before music videos

  • no, they really dont.

  • 10 times better than Jimi:D

  • Im MJ

  • his best song ever.

  • agreed

  • In my eyes, the best song ever by Jimi Hendrix. Botml is such a great tune. Both with great personal meaning and overall meaning.

  • Broadcast on French TV.

Released as a single in october 1967 with "Stars that plays with LSD" on the flip side ; can find this song too in ELECTRIC LADYLAND.

  • he simply left his mortal vessel this world became boring

  • I agree!

damnit God is stingy! We need JIMI!!!!!

  • i just gotta say this...HE'S F*CKING AWESOME!! i so wish i could play guitar xD

  • we can talk about his guitar playin for ages so im not gonna bother (hes the best enough said) i just wanna point out the man rockin tht harpsicord! haha love the sound of it during the chorus

  • R.I.P jimi the C.I.A killed him he didnt die from herion he didnt do that shit he did cocaine they dround him with red wine they forced him to drink it until he died and the said he overdosed

  • prove it

  • theres a fuckin video on youtube that proves it
