  • After you dig up the gold you can refill it with all those archaeologists. It is a win / win deal.

  • wow that would be cool to find.

  • Fantastic. how much is that worth? That is a private dive site owned by the salvager?

  • good finds you water pirates, if people don't like it don't show it, good work................

  • I found a dollar while i was swimming

  • i just found my first 8 reale too. 1618 wreck off sebastion

  • on the beach or in the water?

  • what I dont understand is if someone finds it diogsit up, why the hell cant they keep it?

  • wow awesome! I have had had dreams of this sort of thing all my childhood! I must do this one day! how exciting! so umm who gets to keep it ahah I saw that coin change from hand to hand everyone wanted it

  • AWESOME! Guy digging frantically check your spg, don't forget about it! your tank was floating off of your back and I didn't see you check your spg once! I would be really excited as well, but it looked as though you were low on air when you started digging. DIVE SAFE EVERYONE. congratulations on your kick ass find.

  • that awesome man this summer im going to get my scuba certification, thats what im whating to do is search for sunken treasure

  • Awesome find!! Have you got it appraised? Oh yea, what kind of metal detector were you using? I see a probe but were you using a hand held to check the general area?

  • The detector being was a Fisher Pulse 8x. The area had many crevices and the probe was more successful in the areas with large cracks that the coil from the handheld couldn't get into. The coin is one of many but was in fairly good shape and should bring a nice price comparatively.

  • Treasure Hunters are ruining it for the rest of the world interested in maritime and underwater archeology. If you are going to do it you might aswell, give a hand to the professionals so that, instead of doing it for your own gains, it might end up in a museum... And your taking our jobs :s

  • wow, you really are dillusional! Who is going to foot the bill? If you were really informed, you would know that we have an Archaeologist on staff and we are actually creating more jobs. The state actually takes 20% of whats found and has the right to all unique items found. We only get the ones that are duplicates. The public can view the items in the state museum and now they also can have a chance to actually own piece of history. I bet you have a personal collection in your home right!

  • For those who don't know, Archaeologist believe that he public does not have a right to own and are not responsible enough to own artifacts. Many states have already passed legislation that prohibits people from even picking up an arrow head, bottle, coin or any artifact older than 50 years. Even if its on your own property! Private companies have found more wrecks and done more for underwater archaeology than the Archaeologist!

  • Archaeologist are so idealist, they will actually blackball fellow archaeologist if they work with public companies who do this for profit. Now get this, the Archaeologist have actually come to train and learn from companies like Mel Fisher Inc and Odyssey Marine. Sounds hypocriical to me!

  • how do u make a claim when you found a wreck in the sea? is it local rules? for example in my case its in the persian gulf in United Arab Emirates's water

  • @rgecy Archeologist?!?! What kind of animal is that? State legislation? Is that a brand name or something?

  • Take a lesson from the 500 million Spanish treasure found last year. The Spanish government is claiming all Spanish treasure ships located anywhere in the world ! If I find so much as a coin it will not become public knowledge ! The U.S. State Dept and Courts are in complicity with the Spanish government. Ironic that they want the gold back that they stole from the Incas three hundred years ago. I would rather throw it back in the sea first !

  • well, would you mind sharing what you found? else it's boring..

  • The coin was a 1659 8 Reale, pillars and waves type. The date was clear, but the assayer and mintmark were not.

  • how on earth can this be in any way boring?

  • What camera system are you using guys and your depth??

  • This was filmed with a simple SeaLife DC-500.
