CONGRESS is the problem!!!Congress hasn't allowed a new refinery since the 70's. Big oil holds less than 5% of the entire world's oil giving us no control on the GLOBAL MARKET. Why not give the oil companies a big pat on the back with huge tax breaks to get them to find our own oil...besides they pay more in taxes than all the American people put together! Congress should be the one answering the questions not big oil...

It's called supply and demand folks. If we drill, the price of oil goes down.

Moreover, the federal and state government makes more profit in tax dollars than the oil companies who actually do the drilling.

Lastly, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...do anyone of you care to think about the fact that Teacher, fireman, and police pensions are the largest owners of "Big Oil." Therefore, they benefit most from the profits. Think about it.

Exxon Mobile pays more taxes per year than what they make in net income.  Then you have to go and pay state and federal taxes when you buy their products

The oil companies are raping the consumer. Exxon/Mobil is the largest offender. Stop buying Exxon/Mobil products, they will be forced to lower their prices and the other smaller companies will have to follow.

Uhhh... Measure profits in terms of a percentage on sales, and you'll see that their record dollar profits are less than a lot of other industries that are dramatically more profitable. Moreover, the oil industry invested very little into infrastructure during the 80s and 90s when prices plummeted and the industry was in a quasi depression. Profits are being invested back into developing more resources. With your attitude you'll have marxist oil production = heating your home with yak dung.
