I have 3 cars a 2001 Jetta Vr6, 2011 GT Mustang, and 1984 Mustang Gt and with upgrades on the 80's mustang its the best, but the vr6 is a fun car to "supe-up"
With a few exceptions most of the older mustangs are garbage stock, the new ones with the coyote engine are pretty sick though. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that VR6 was stock. I own an 08 gti and I eat most older mustangs pretty easily unless they are heavily modified and my car is bone stock.

@samiam2595 MKIII's were definitely governed. I have a mkiii in my driveway that I daily back and forth to work every day. Even with a techtonics catback exhaust and a CAI, this car will only hit 120. All cars that are manufactured for US markets need to be governed. If you hit 140, which I doubt because that is the top speed the speedometer marks, then your speedometer must have been wrong or you were dreaming. No car especially at 180k miles hit the max speed unless it is tuned

Given the 20 year difference in the engine technology, I would say that is pretty good for a little old Ford 4 cylinder in the year 1982. And when did you say recall?

Mk3 jettas weigh just under 3k lb and fox bodies weigh just under 5k lb. My 2.0 has beaten fox bodies, mercedes clk 430's (300 hp v8, 325 lb ft torque), and one camaro. You v8 guys need to start respecting the German compact sedans. We can all hate hondas and other ricers together though.

They came stock with 160-175 hp not 100 or 102...and my friend owns one and has smoked a iroc with a 305 I'n it by 9 car lenths I'n a mile drag....with 9 witnesses including me...I'm not saying the mustangs junk they can be very fast....Idk abt 233mph....but fast...

@MsMinecraftsucks Dude you are a fail speaking about mustang engines when you have no idea what they really are. That 5.0 was just a regular 2V GT with around 200-260 HP depending on bolt ons and the year. The GT does not come stock with a turbo so you are very wrong. Obviously the driver just didnt know what he was doing.

@bharvey2010 you are the fuck nut! I happen to own a stock must and gt 5.0 with top speeds of 233 mph and 589 horsepower! But I also own a jet vr6 and I can probably only go like 87 mph and only has 102 horsepower so I normally only use it to run over animals and birds and stuff, so ms minecraftsucks you are very right and don't let nut kickers like bharvey tell u ur wrong! He as clearly never gone 233 mph like us. He's probably a ass fingerer but idk it's hard to tell exactly

@bharvey2010 Sorr buddy if your 2.o is not modded and was made in Mexico, which it probably was, you are not going over 120. The mkiii Jetta/Golf were governed to stop there. The VR on the other hand may go a little over 120 but that is all. And no, I am not "hating" on you or your car. I am a VW enthusiast and have owned many VWs in my life. In fact I own a MKIII golf 2.0 ABA engine code, and two other VWs. If you dont believe what I have I will make a video showing them.

@samiam2595 MKIII's were definitely governed. I have a mkiii in my driveway that I daily back and forth to work every day. Even with a techtonics catback exhaust and a CAI, this car will only hit 120. All cars that are manufactured for US markets need to be governed. If you hit 140, which I doubt because that is the top speed the speedometer marks, then your speedometer must have been wrong or you were dreaming. No car especially at 180k miles hit the max speed unless it is tuned

that gti is really slow. noway it would beat a mustang. stock mustangs have turbos and atleast 400 horsepowers. that gti probably only has 100 horsepowers so it could never go 200mph like a mustang. that race has to be fake. vw sucks really a lot.

I just find that ignorant and funny. And I know many a 2.3 turbo that are still going strong with over 250k miles on them. And there are many turbo 4's that make over 600hp with the stock block.

@gunzkevin if you'll learn to read kevin I said recall...which means remember. The turbo's with 600 hp are not stock mustangs. There are VR6's with over 900hp, they are the exception not the rule, just like your turbo mustang. And congrats on your turbo mustang with a quarter million miles, I wonder how long it took it to get there with a 12 sec 0-60 time. For their displacement until recently the vast majority of stock mustangs have been a joke as far as output, period.

@hooahayes When have I ever brought up the mustang's engines being powerful for their size? You just bashed on the 2.3 when I know for a fact it is a very good engine so I gave you an example of how good they are. And for it's displacement, the 2.3l turbo in the svo mustang makes 89hp per liter, 2.8 12v vr6 makes 61hp per liter. Given the 20 year difference in the engine technology, I would say that is pretty good for a little old Ford 4 cylinder in the year 1982. And when did you say recall?

@gunzkevin You should read the quotes to MsMinecraftsucks. There are some ridiculous fanboys on here that think that all mustangs are faster than all VW's. And the SVO mustang was an extremely limited edition that cost 25G in 1982! That's like 50 grand today. Meanwhile it did 0-60 about a second faster than an 83 gti 1.8 liter N/A. So congratulations on your super model. Oh and the gti cost about 5G. So tell me again how awesome Ford is.

I then said I know there are many that are making tons of power, and many that have tons of miles on them. You then said that until recently, mustangs haven't been powerful considering their displacement. I then showed you the hp per liter of the svo mustang, and a 12v vr6 to disprove that. I didn't say anything about price or speed. I have never once dissed a vr6 or any other car, just disproved

@gunzkevin you compare a limited production race car with a production car. They made about 250 svo vs. thousands of vr6's. If you want to make the real comparison you would compare an 83 gti (98hp 1.8NA) vs the regular 2.3 Turbo which had about 130hp. And you also failed to mention the problems Ford had with that engine catching on fire.

@gunzkevin this is a very interesting conversation that I fear im a bit late for the mustang powered by a highly modified turbo four was good but to compare it to a non modified vr6 that was designed to cater to a wide variety of people it had to cover allot of bases luxury smoothness epa fuel econ and you will find that if you did the same modifications that the ford Racing engineers made to the for engine to the vr6 you will find a much different number that said I have owned both cars

@Domethiusloch ran out of room any way owned both a mustang and a vr6 corrado I loved both cars they both had there pros and cons the vw was faster but it was expensive to fix and over engineered and complicated compared to the mustang the mustang ended up with a 351 windsor and became quicker in a strait line than the dub yes bigger engine I know but it was way cheaper and easier than upgrading the dub German cars have always made the most power but they have also been doing it the longest

Beating a fox body "me too race car" isn't really an accomplishment....My beater ass 83 scirocco did that with bad timing and a worn clutch, if that jetta had been twin turbo....you would have KNOWN.

@killerkhezu1 do you know anything about VW? Friggen VR6 motors can destroy V8's (obviously). That VR was completely stock. Stock exhaust NON turbo that is no large feat to beat a heavy ass fox body. Mk3 jettas weigh just under 3k lb and fox bodies weigh just under 5k lb. My 2.0 has beaten fox bodies, mercedes clk 430's (300 hp v8, 325 lb ft torque), and one camaro. You v8 guys need to start respecting the German compact sedans. We can all hate hondas and other ricers together though.

Maybe it was just because the driver of that American piece of shit didn't know how to drive or maybe it was because the gear ratios of the Vr6 are much shorter and the car is much lighter. Who knows!? All I know is that Vr6 motors are bad ass and the cars that they are in are much lighter than a fox body. I have driven a fox body with a rebuilt motor bored out to 308 and I have driven a Vr6 jetta.
