  • How are those chords classified ? cause if they don't belong to the caged system then are they the so called light chords ? Which would be the logic in this kind of chords in order to memorize them? I mean I am talking about the first ones played in the E, B and G strings

    @dragoneti67

    Hi there. I can't really say that I'm following you.

    First of all, I'm self taught and know very little theory, so I've never

    heard of the caged system or light chords. However these

    are the chords for the song. Secondly, I'm an English

    teacher and seeing that you're from the U.S. and assuming that you're

    a native English speaker, I'm sure you know "THIS kind

    of chords" and " IN the E, B and G strings" is just bad grammar. Finally,

    What are you talking about????

  • @jpm2u I am not questioning your song. In fact I've save it in my fav to learn it eventually . What I was trying to do is to find out how to find the root note for this chords that aren't bar chords. The CAGED system is just bar chords based on the shape of the C,A, G, E and D open chords but the ones I use are the A shape based bar chords and E shape based bar chords which have the root note on the low E and the A string frets. I apologize for the confusion am causing

  • @dragoneti67

    My apologies too. The root note for open D is 5th fret of the A string if you play the chord based on the C shape, the root for the Eaug is the 7th fret on the A string (if you play the chord using the A,D,G,B stings and mute the high E), the root for the F#m (played at the 5th fret) is 4th fret of the D string, for Dm (played at 5th fret) the root is 5th fret on the A string, and for E7 it is 7th fret on A. I believe this is correct and hope this helps.
