If you want action fantasy story driven adventure style game, get Dragon Age 2 for the console. If you want traditional RPG where every action you make and every choice in gearing/specing and stat choice effects the entire course of the overall story and the game goes on for ages like classic Bioware games, get Dragon Age: Origins, truth is there is a reason why decided not to make another game exactly the same, it's not in their style to do so, they get Obsidian to do that for them.
In this game if you want to sword and board, if you want to be melee oriented with a focus on smashing and disorienting opponents while deflecting blows, use a small shield or "Buckler". If you want to be a tank with a focus on deflecting incoming missile fire and full on just sit there and hold the line, use a large kite or tower shield, believe me in this game "there" is a difference between using the two.
Also, this is NOT sword porn. That would be an intuitive combat system where it doesn't revolve around 2 characters mindlessly slashing at each other with no parrying until one guy dies. Cmon, even the first Riddick game had a solid dodge/parry system. And that was a prison fight with shank's.
If an opponent is mindlessly cutting into you and if you are mindlessly smashing him, means your character's gear doesn't reflect your character's stats. Don't talk rubbish about a game where you don't even know how to put in enough Willpower, Dexterity and Strength to set up your class correctly so you can play it intuitively. Tanks need A LOT of willpower and strength since they are in shield wall mode almost all the time and it uses up a massive chunk of stamina.

In my opinion, Bioware out did themselves again. One of the best games ever made I think. I cant wait to see what Bioware will have to offer in the future. Im very excited and anxious for Dragon Age 2s release date, whenever it may be.

And so... they put it in your hands via tactics screen. Dont be intimidated. If one specific condition is met, so-and-so will do a specific action. For example, if enemy attacks with melee, use attack/defense penalty spell on em. Thats just one out of a whole list you can fine-tune as it increases in levels
@CYRUSsoreal1987 So far, its just a one-to-one ratio of a whole array of conditions assignable to actions. I'm hopin in the expansion you can assign more than one condition to action just in case a particular spell is really powerful. You want to make sure it counts so there is alot of times you dont want to use it until the perfect moment. In the other way around a weak spell or move can be used in lots of scenarios. From one condition I'd assign actions to critters, enemies close to dyin...

nightmare is easy not at the beging. at low level every single mob potencially kick your ass but then mid high level it become a lot easyer especially if you have wayne in your party or make morrigan spirit healear \heal and forceshield

Yup, I have completed it at nightmare without much difficulty - only place it was a bit hard was when I was running around without armor :-/ (sold everything to buy the tomes at the first time in camp - Bodahn is restocking afterwards)
Should probably mention I've played a lot of Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale 2 some years ago - guess I knew some useful tricks for the battles (not exploits, just some mob control)
Hm, could imagine that soloing would be quite challenging - was using a warrior for a tank and two mages + Leliana on ranged attack for dmg, crowd control and, in the case of the mages, healing...
Soloing would require quite a versatile character - didn't really try out the arcane warrior but perhaps that's a decent choice :-/ ...guess it'll help a bit if I start using potions, poisons and traps though... (and I'd still be f*cked if grabbed by a dragon, ogre or dog :S)

They really need to have normalized the finishing move attack speed, at least for all the smaller enemies. It's a bit of a pain to be "stuck" in a finishing animation when, if you just did a regular strike, you'd have been free to move 2+ seconds sooner.
i sorta like the fast action fighting better cause its a game and you want to have fun. When you see those cutscenes where they fight fast and shit and you actually play with two handed sword and your fucking slowpoke its something to be desired. Though thats the only thing i didn't like though the game itself was really good. It would also be cool to add in more executions.

Well i dunno but its kinda hard the game even on Normal difficulty, thankfully there is easy difficulty too. The combat system is like in WoW, Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter except that better animations, more blood, some tactics (but i sometimes find them hard to use). Anyway the game is cool for PC

@OverMX you mean 2 gb of ram right? and if your processor (CPU) is a single corse 1ghz then theres no way sorry. Even if it is dual core it probably wouldnt run. You need to upgrade your processor and you should probably do ram too.

i got addicted to this game it is really awesome. it is really big and there is a lot of strat that goes into it. there are some pretty epic moments in this i especially liked the walk up to the broodmother the fight for me was really fun also. but everytime you fight mobs it does feel somewhat rewarding and if you arnt paying attention you will die because it doesnt fuck around xD

Don't play DA:O if you don't like blood and gore, even then you can still turn it off..

The team AI was kinda annoying (especially if you have 2 mages and they keep overlapping glyphs) but the game was still fun, micromanaging included.

I WANT A TURE RPG!!! not some shits like that.
I want FPP or at least TPP, only ONE cahracter and NO FUCKING point and klick... point and klick is for weak people who dont know how to fight properly... it doesnt bring any fun.

Oh, then I wouldn't suggest buying this game. Or watching videos of it. But mostly I wouldn't suggest commenting on those videos.
And if you just point and click and watch, then you don't know how to play and should stick to oblivion. DA:O is awesome and I'm so glad I have some new bioware to hold me over until mass effect 2's later release date.

I don't think so. The whole point f the game is that they're evil and you fight them. But you can still be a human, elf or dwarf.

Well i dunno but its kinda hard the game even on Normal difficulty, thankfully there is easy difficulty too. The combat system is like in WoW, Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter except that better animations, more blood, some tactics (but i sometimes find them hard to use). Anyway the game is cool for PC

pc no doubt if you are a tactical player if you just want to bash the hell out of stuff consoles for you (pc has better graphics and it has a better menu system if that gives you more of an idea of which you should get)

@OverMX you mean 2 gb of ram right? and if your processor (CPU) is a single corse 1ghz then theres no way sorry. Even if it is dual core it probably wouldnt run. You need to upgrade your processor and you should probably do ram too.

lol if they want a cool combat system give us a motion control weapon thats lifesized as to waht you weild, and have a controller wired into the side of it.
ex: if you have a sword you play with the buttons and sticks on the blade and hold the hilt when a battle breaks out

i got addicted to this game it is really awesome. it is really big and there is a lot of strat that goes into it. there are some pretty epic moments in this i especially liked the walk up to the broodmother the fight for me was really fun also. but everytime you fight mobs it does feel somewhat rewarding and if you arnt paying attention you will die because it doesnt fuck around xD
