  • Sting does a fine job here in this version of the song,, however I think it would turned out better if the tempo was slower ...Sounds a bit too "cha-cha" to me

  • Sting very cleverly made the song his own. He didn't just rehash it.

  • I love the movie!

  • Simply outstanding! Sting is the man... sing it, baby!

  • Cool! Great song!

  • I am so ecstatic I stumbled across this version. Although I loved the original, Stings' voice is just so amazingly beautiful. The orginal version was a bit hurried. I'm more of a relaxed kinda girl. The keyboards are ever so slightly kissing the melody while the bass dances in and out holding the bottom firmly in place. LOVE IT!!! Sensual piece.

  • @fajfred

Dusty Springfield spells its meaning, Windmill..has to be subtle.

  • I love this version.

  • A stunning track with entrancing lyrics and a song made great by the perfect vocal.

  • Far much better from the Original to my opinion.

Sting's voice and original chords changes add a beautiful dimension Legrand would never get close to.

  • @delirman92 Totally agree.

  • Do yourself a big favor and listen to the French version by the unique voice of Frida Boccara, Les Moulins de mon coeur

  • To each his own; this version is BRILLIANT! hot sexy romantic all in one like only STING can do it....the LIKES vs, DISLIKES speaks for itself!

  • guys sorry but no one can compete with sting's voice, its a natural talent

  • LOVE STINGS VERSION! The Thomas Crowne Affair is when I 1st heard STINGS version & instantly LOVED it I was glad 2C the characters end up 2gether unlike the original movie. Rene's character was BAD AZZZZ & Pierce was SEXY; I wanted all of her outfits; The scene when their in the car & Rene is mad becuase of the photos is probably my favorite; Rene was GORGEOUS and that fur coat; OMG! But the scene was also Poignent because their true feelings come out! LOVE YA STING! U DA MAN! LOL

  • It's different. I can dig it. But will always love Dusty's version better.

  • this version is crap ! Nobody sings this song better than Dusty Springfield not even Barbra on her new album !

  • @BrenFTL1 This is Not that bad, but I agree with you, NO one sings this like Dusty!

  • The Original is so much better!

  • I love the remake, but the original kicks ass. The songs feel almost like two different ones. If you take them as such, you can start to enjoy them both a little better.

  • I like the original; still this version is convincing.

It''s the lyrics and the music that are amazing!!

No wonder this song is a classic that won an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 1968.

  • How can you miss with these two leading men.

  • @mitchsalem 2 leading men?

  • the movie is great but this cover is a joke

  • hate it... its crap? the origional was genius, this is a non musical person tryng to make some moey :/ sad really tbh :(

  • Great storyline with great movie theme!!!!!!

  • The original by noel harrison is much better. but this version is still good

  • is there any information for the thomas crown affair 2??

  • JUST TERRIFIC

  • ^3 people have earwax problems

  • An intelligent, elegant and sensual film with great music, LOVE IT..........has to be one of my favourites. Fantastic actors - Rene Russo is a stunning woman and Pierce Brosnan, well he is gorgeous, just yummy :)

  • Smooth Voice, Smooth Jazz, Smooth Film. Smooth Smoothness ^_^

  • ADORO!!!!!

  • No, i don't see shitty movies. She's still fine.

  • Rene Russo is genetic perfection

  • @TheEgger Did you see her in Thor?

  • Sting is good but I perfer the origional by Noel Harrison.

  • A really great mix of collage scenes from Thomas Crown Affair and Sting's Windmill of Your Mind. Thanks for the show......

  • A really great mix of collage scenes from Thomas Crown Affair and Sting's Windmillof Your Mind. Thanks for the show......

  • The original is from french composer Michel Legrand " les moulins de mon coeur"

  • the dance scene in this film was possibly once of the sexiest scenes Hollywood's delivered in the last 20 years and lo and behold it had 2 people in their 40s in it!! So why do we keep getting these pathetically untalented 20 somethings thrown at our screens!!

  • Best version of this tune that I have ever heard...Sting rules...Cheers!!

  • 60 people have no taste...

  • @jaklamms four months later.. 7 more people have no taste..

  • @jaklamms Bloody hell, it's gone up by 1,151 in just six months. I'm glad you posted that comment or else I'd have nothing to compare it to!

  • @jaklamms I have taste, that's why I dislike this

  • @SraFlanders little tip: have a look at the likes and the dislikes. lookes like we do have taste, but you just havent. simple math.

  • it sounds nice, but the jazzy feel doesn't really match what the song is about :/

  • best song

  • Nice job,Brosnan!

  • the original is possibly the best movie iv ever seen

  • Great Video

  • Yep, it's a subjective judgement. This version avoids the theatrical "rushed" delivery of the original, but consequently allows the melody to really shine through. For that alone i prefer this version, but a jazz fan I was probably going to anyway. The only bum note is Sting's singing at 2:03 - ouch !

  • Please, Noel Harrison only!

  • @chris77anna Noel brought the cheese, but I'm afraid Sting has the wine....

  • Nice song, and one of my favorite movies!

  • Please listen to "SAMANLAINEN ONNI" OF FINNISH SINGER TAPIO HEINONEN. It's perfect

  • It's a matter of preference people. I actually like this version much better than the original. I have to admit the music today is not what it use to be however I do give credit to the few artist who does a remake in a way they feel it. I think the song was meant to be sultry because of the movie. Anyway, just one persons opinion......Excellent job Sting!

  • song is total balls compared to the original and im into metal so thats saying something.

  • i feel like that version rather ruins the beauty of the original song. When something isnt broken you do not try to fix it.

  • The multiple black suited guys' part blew my mind !

  • I'm old, naturally the original is my favorite, BUT this is absolutely wonderful!!

  • its been on some advert in the UK and I thought the words are brilliant!

  • Am i the only one who thinks this song's so much worse than the original.... The backing track doesn't even fit with the melody - the original's piano was much better

  • @tomflaherty I totally agree.

  • @anthony9325 who gives a shit, just appreciate it and shud off

  • @TheBlog007 so ur telling him to appreciate bullshit? no thx i appreciate whats right not whats lazy, weak and pathetic.

  • @tomflaherty you are not alone...I shouldn't have come here :(

  • Comment removed

  • @tomflaherty And he doesn't even get all the words right!

  • @tomflaherty i disagree with your opninon, but that is just me.

  • @tomflaherty Perhaps if you would take this rendition on face value and not force the comparison in the windmills of your mind you might experience some enjoyment

  • @tomflaherty Yep, you are not aloneeeeee.

  • "[...] someone tosses in a stream" I can't make out what he says at the beginning of this line.

  • @TheFreudianslit >>>The words are.......

Like a door that keeps revolving

    In a half forgotten dream

Or the ripples from a pebble

    Someone tosses in a stream

  • remind me of all

  • and yoh yes, pierce played crowne, i feel, better than did mcqueen.

mcqueen is great in many roles, but the king of subtlety he has never been.

it would be like casting schwartzenegger to play josey wales, it just wouldn't feel right.

  • this was the movie that put brosnan in as bond.

if only he could've kept his flaming marxism under control...

  • @marcusdismas I'm sorry, but this did not put brosnan in as bond......

  • Ce couple, la Classe par Excellence, et cette musique supermement remixée....

  • I have listened Dusties version and I think Harrison version, but the tune in Stings' version is very nice and smooth and the sound simply float through the room. I think this is the best version. No ofence to the other opinion. Thanks.

  • Aunty Jo and Kate's favourite movie after Princess Bride ... yum yum yum endlessly, ya xxx

  • Pierce is also rocking Windmills........

  • Pierce Brosnan is so elegant and sooooo gorgeous.

  • Lots of good versions of this classic tune, but I'll take this version over the others with its poignant vocal renderings and impeccable orchestration. Sting & co. really groove out here! Slainte'!

  • @dewmikester1 You are not wrong.

  • chanson qui me transporte à chaque fois voix musique rythmique tout y est very gooooooood

  • I like that song covers by Sting's soft and sensual voice as a velvet veil..

  • Fantastic song! Sting captured this song perfectly.

  • vis ar mocons neta es???gagijdeba adamiani

  • I love the movie!

  • Beautyful

  • Great music!

  • alucinante, esta version me gusta mas q la original

  • simplemente me encanta , la cancion y le pelicula la mejor de todas!

  • I melt to this song.

  • classic.Period.

  • Too sleazy, no bite or emotion, not a patch on the original song, also, lets face it, Pierce Brosnan springs to mind.

  • Someone should do a youtube video using clips from the movie "Inception" set to "Windmills of Your Mind".

  • QUE PELICULA MÀS HERMOSA Y EMOCIONANTE

  • QUE SENSACION MAS ESQUISITA ESCUCHAR ESTA CANSION DE LO MEJOR EN ESTE PLANETA ESPECTACULAR STING ES EXELENTE

  • Esta canción me encanta!

  • The song was from the original version of the movie.

  • This Song is just plain SEXY...

  • this song also has a hindi copy........!!

  • Excellent Song!

  • Pierce Brosnan, Ohh! Pierce Brosnan, que rico acelera mi corazón

  • Windmills of Your Mind" interpretada por Sting. El hombre del bombín, camina tranquilamente tras haber preparado su gran mascarada.

  • I agree MrMchiasson. But this is not only what adult music sounds like, but what music can be to anyone. Music has it's roots in the evocation of emotions which this song really does. It tries to put into words the thoughts and images the mind holds and how when emotions enter, reason seems to slip, the grasp of reality loosens just enough that we do things we can not explain .

  • @Captainvideo54 I like your ideas on this. Sting is not one of my favourites but Mr. G. does have it quite right: there is a sophistication and elegance to this rendition which seems to capture the mood of the film perfectly. I believe Michel Legrand wrote ths music; I don't know about the lyricist but, as you point out, the words are wonderfully evocative in a glistening musical setting which, together, just makes one say "Cool".

  • Great song!

  • Bond...James Bond.

  • my mom used to watch this movie over and over, until one fine day i found myself singing the lyrics to this song....

round, like a circle in a spiral

like a wheel within a wheel

    never ending or beggining

    on an ever spinning wheel...

and the world is like an apple

    rolling silently in space

like the circles that you find

in the windmills of your mind ♫♪

    haha love it :)

  • @31iidna In my era, I watched this movie with Steve McQueen. Music was dynamite. I felt so sad at the end of the film. I thought: give her another chance!

Didn't watch this one for a long time... Oh, yes! A happy ending. They chose wisely. He was a few steps ahead of her. Hmm. It's a good thing because they are together now, and she's really happy. He is, after all, the love of her life.

    Thanks for these words.

  • A világ egyik legjobb filmje.

  • This is what mature, sophisticated adult music is supposed to be. .

The original movie was great and the remake was just as good.

  • Sting makes this song his own, far better than the original, class...

  • Musique trés connue du compositeur Français Michel LEGRAND et reprise pour ce film.

  • Most remakes suck so bad, this one doe"nt it so good, much better then the first and I really dig Steve Mcqueen from the first one. I've bought the soundtrack as well.

  • do you know the track name for the scene where they dance at the black and white party, after esther cañadas leaves?!?!?

  • OMG . . was that Sarah Paulin @ 2:00? LOL

  • Pause at 3:38, its Bond!

  • I never thought I would appreciate anyone else's interpretation of Noel's original. Damn fine job, Sting!

  • great montage for a great song and a great film and a great remake!

  • the start.....

  • Love Gordon!

  • song still classic original movie with steve mccool was better originals always are.

  • I Just built a FREE ENERGY MOTOR and GENERATOR from Creative Science & Research, fuellessUSA com I like your video also. keep up the good work.

  • Great movie, great actors and a great soundtrack!

  • Great soundtrack, great film!

  • I have this Album.....it's Brilliant.....Cocktails, Nina Simone, Sting etc....thanks for upload! x'

  • what does this song talk about

  • best movie soundtrack ever!!!!

  • This one of my most favorite songs of all time. Seems like I remember someone else singing it though, and not Dusty Springfield.

  • @geoff100 Yeah, just came from watching Turner Classic Movies and a guy was singing it but with speed, i can't find who it is!!! He sings it better than this guy... To me at least.

  • You guys think this version is good? look up the Dusty Springfield version. one of the sexiest songs I've ever heard. She was some singer. this version is good also, don't get me wrong.

  • great song for a great film. Nice job, Sting!

  • @prlwctd I absolutely agree. It's one of my all time favourite films. Love Sting's version this song.

  • @prlwctd Sting was better than the movie!

  • @prlwctd

Please check out the Dusty Springfield version. I won't say it's better, I'll let you find out yourself...

  • where can i get the instrumental (trumpetand clarnet )version

  • Chappells in Wardour Street, London, more than likely. Phone them.

  • I love Sting's version. His voice, the drums and the piano transport the type of melancholy, tension and longing that just bypasses all my emotional safeguards and shake me to the core.

Can't help it. Same with Vangelis' Blade Runner Love Theme, Carly Simon's »Let the River Run«, Maria McKee's »Show Me Heaven« or Alicia Keys' cover of Tender Love. Those just overwhelm me every time I listen.

  • You can't get any smoother than this. One of my favorite songs.

  • Im looking for the name of the song that is played at the very begin of thomas crown affair. in the intro.

  • very very very nice song ....not to mention the movie :)

  • lol hindi song dastak...... they did better tho..

  • Not as good as Moyet

  • beautiful song,

    very romantic movie...

  • love it

  • Beatiful song

  • This version is predictable, has nothing on the romance of the original.(theme and movie)

The film was great in 68, leave it alone.

Remake to cash in on ruins everything.

Originality these days is a forgotten word.

  • Awesome

  • Love the original version, but this fits the film perfectly. The best re working of modern classic film.

  • Sting does great job on this song and any song for that matter. I love his voice.

  • Dusty Springfield's original version is the tops, this is quite good....

  • ssssssssssoul!!! delisiouslly!!!

  • superbe complicité entre Rebé russo et Pierce brosnan ...alchimie très réussie qui ne nous fait pas oublier pour autant Steeve McQueen &et la très sensuelle Faye dunaway...la musique est splendide merci Michel legrand , merci ....

  • Love this movie! In my top 2 favorite films!

And this song, well this version, is amazing!

  • the original movie ending is more realistic to the main character's personality and human nature in general. If a rich guy plays this kind of game just for kick, I doubt he'd throw it all away for the love of an insurance lady, the most manipulative profession in the world since the tax collector.

  • How can anyone say the remake was a dud? Rene Russo and Pierce Brosnan had this chemistry that you can see, feel, and taste. .

  • Honestly, I think Noel Harrison's version from the original movie is so much better.

  • I totally agree. Harrison's version is so full of energy, tension and drama. Sting's rendition sounds like boring and meandering elevator music.

  • Such a haunting melody. It dies out and then it's born again. The best version that I have heard.

  • Also the original movie had the greatest kissing scene everwith McQueen and Dunaway. Also the chess movements were very seductive..

  • The only 'Thomas Crown Affair" movie was the great film starring Steve McQueen. The remake was a dud. Noel Harrison's simple telling of the theme was greater..
