Hmm... The Nike Zeus missile, developed in the early '60s, was much more successful than this one. It managed to down more than a dozen of Atlas ICBMs, which are much more powerful than the targets this system is tested against, and it got canceled. Yet this one, even though it didn't manage to shoot down A SINGLE ICBM so far, keeps getting funds pumped into it. It also has a much longer development time with much poorer success rate. I just don't understand.
This system has a 50% mas success rate in tests. The Nike Zeus missile, tested in the early 1960s, had a much better, almost 100% success rate in tests. And that missile was tested against the powerful Atlas ICBMs, not against the much weaker targets this system is tested against.. They canceled that system (in a time when such a system was actually needed because of the USSR), but in this system that fails a lot, they keep pushing funds. I just don't understand.
