Hi Alexandria, this is a human cerebral smooth muscle cell isolated from a pial vessel in Brodmann area 9/10. The cell is in culture and has been loaded with cell-tracker dye (green; cell body) and Rhod-2 AM (red; calcium indicator). Using multi-photon laser scanning microscopy a time-lapse video was taken. When the cell is stimulated with KCl, calcium is released from intracellular stores and contraction occurs. I hope this helps...

  • thanks :)
