Stick a red nose onhis face and you have got what you are about to see.Even if your a fan of his you will be short changed..he hardly appears onstage. The audience was representing what Ivanovs character loathed..and there was a moment quite coisidently I am sure when 99% of audience was in fits of laughter from what the rest of cast are getting upto..then Ivanov dispares and says outloud fools or idiots. The audience didnt batter an eyelid they couldnt even get the Irony.
Don't you get it? You've left 6 long comments on this video, all badly recieved, and I don't know what you were watching that night, but it sure as hell wasn't Branagh's Ivanov. He was absolutely brilliant, so much that I know several people who want to see it again. I feel you should stop leaving these comments, as it's pretty obvious that nobody likes them, and it is as far from the truth than anything I have ever heard in my life.

This Director * Michael Grandage* would have been better for directing Carry on up the Ivanov..who knows maybe he thought thats what it was.I realise that most people going to watch plays nowdays dont look for emotional value in whats onstage ( in this case there wasnt any)..but they go to the theatre to pay their money and get evrylast ounce of moneys worth of entertainment out of it. Forget the Brannagh looking all Shakespearian on the poster..this is completely and utterly misleading.

everyone had to put up with 5 seconds of emotional content..darn thats tough.,They all got their moneys worth and continued falling about like lunatics.I was very much looking forawrd to seeing Branagh onstage as I have liked the detail and time he gives to representing his characters, not in this play..I do think actors need other good actors and directors to bring out the best in them.

Everyone looked lost onstage.Where was the emotional content of Brannaghs charcter??.When he was onstage (which was fleeting)..you got the feeling that he was doing this as a favour to someone and didnt really want to be there..his eyes wondered most of the time. There was a moment when everyone in audience was in absolute histerics..and then Brannaghs character slumped to the floor and started crying..instantly everyonebuttoned their lips.Hey not for long though.^^

..sense of what you are about to watch. The letters IVANOV should have been writen in kiddy crayon.I do regulary go to the theatre in west end and am quite happy to sit there watching bad lazy acting if I am given a good story to immerse myself into. This play starts with Brannagh standing alone onstage contemplating his world ( you think this looks interesting)..nope thats the end of the emotional content of this play.

I went to watch this play recently at the Donmar. If you like music hall type comedy where you are just there to laugh at everything thats given to you onstage..and extremely poor acting that has so many pregnant pauseswhere actors look as though they are thinking " did I leave the gas on at home"...Tom Stoppards version of this play is beyond juvenile..the Photo of Kenneth Branagh that stares out at viewer with the word IVANOV in large bold letters gives you a completely misleading>>>
Kenneth Branagh has won The Theatregoers' Award for Best Actor for his role in Ivanov. As voted for by the public who actually went to see this play.

Thanks for uploading, TOF! I wasn't sure if people would be able to listen to it outside of the UK.
