  • Ray McDonald was an excellent dancer and so unlucky not to feature in any more MGM musicals; he died at the tragically young age of 39. Note the brilliance of the MGM orchestra - particularly the trumpets, trombones and drums. Thanks.

  • Such a loss of talent ...

If it had not been for her poor health McCracken might have been another Cyd Charisse.

  • All I kept thinking while watching this, is that everyone in this scene is dead.

  • DIRTY WIGGAS. WHITE NIGAS

  • At 2:35 when the dancing kicks in, Joan dances toward you, its great, this is the best dancing I know of. She is wearing black balet showes and you can see her raiging. She was just the best.

  • how are pickles sordid? by color.. ba dum dum.

  • Joan at 2:33 goes into a wonderful dance. She died of diabetes at 43. But in this small segments shows just how good she could be and thats really the best!

  • This was on Oscar nominated song and was used on an episode of "I Love Lucy".

  • Most of the musicals I liked were not made by MGM. But "Good News" is is my favorite, maybe because it was somehow different than the other MGM musicals. Joan McCracken was a wonderful dancer, and soo cute!

  • same year my car came out!

  • Warner's with Busby 1932-37 are the best musicals ever

  • do you have the rest of the movie? i would love it if someone could put the rest of the movie, this is one of my favorite movies

  • Hilarious how this big song and dance, and the preceding dialogue, had no real meeting place or any reason to be next to each other. God, I love old musicals. Continuity be damned.

  • It is irresistible to be sure -- even though the dancers all seem a trifle old to be college students, even post GI-Bill.

  • Without a doubt one of the most imaginative musical numbers in movie history. And look at the greatly confined space in which all the action takes place!

  • Robert Alton must of borrowed 4:14 for when he choreographed Annie Get Your Gun

  • Thanks for posting this!!!!!!!! Thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!

  • I love Joan McCracken I wish she had been in more films.

  • This fabulous song & dance number gets better every time I see it. Long live Joan McCracken and Ray McDonald & company!

  • Sadly Joan's legs must have finished her career

  • @mrspatrickcampbell I believe she had complications due to diabetes. She was the most incredible dancer. I can never see her dance this number too much.

  • What a fun song and a great dance number. This could never be made today. Thanks for this post.

  • Why do all the boys appear to be homosexuals?

    Discuss.

  • MGM made the best musicals!

  • @OurGangFan Whatever may be said of "LB," he never accepted less than the best out of his players and Metro as a whole.

  • omg!!! bitch you better WORRKK!! that was amazing!!

  • omg!!! bitch you better WORRK!!!!!

  • The dance they do here reminds me of the dance during the song "Alot Of Living To Do" from the film Bye Bye Birdie

  • @OurGangFan, the song reminds me of Ann Miller in "On the town" in which she sings and dances "Prehistoric man".

  • @Joylibelle It also reminds me of the Indian dance from the Mary Martin version of Peter Pan

  • This the highlight of the entire film - and it isn't even performed by the principals. Talk about scene-stealing...

  • Thanks for getting this up here! Man, she could dance.

  • UTTERLY FANTASTIC! Extremely well staged and enthusiastically performed.

  • release the McCracken!!!

  • @Countfoscolikesmice

    ROFL!

Too bad she didn't live long, much less get more roles.

  • One of the best MGM musicals ever!

  • damn they were getting down!

    I dig this...
