What I want to know is why Ensemble or w/e decided to remove the soldiers from the top of the Elephants. I mean are they just psychic and they know what we want them to do without having to be directed? They were better back in AoE1, had more detail.

Age 2 has a huge advantage for Persien because of the Elephants ... Age 3 has advantage of France

Elephants are powerful but slow and cost lots of resources, although Persians don't have much besides the elephants that's good.

Lol thats the noobs way of thinking. The Persians still counter cavalry with their pikes or camels. They also create powerful and fast knights/paladins. In the Conqerors expansion, with Mahouts and Elite war elephants, the elephant is almost as fast as a regular cavalry unit and extremely strong with an atk bonus against buildings.
