Thank you. I was born in 1971...and I remember watchig this alone...the mind does change things...I thought I was the only one on earth who knew about this movie...same with Tentacle, etc.,...
I recall the original version had different music at the end. You can tell the credits on this one are speeded up in that obnoxious way they do it today. In the original version, the story ends the same: the picture freezes, there's a drum roll and we hear that evil chuckle...and then, over the (normal speed) credits, the music becomes that same mournful five-note tune we heard in the movie's open, just after the narrator finishes. It ends with a crescendo.
I watched this movie when I was a kid and my skin crawled when they said they found a woman hanging from the mast and the smile on the face of the woman in the helicopter and that evil laugh. Believe me I was awake most of the night!!
@jw200 I recall another ABC TV movie called "A Cold Night's Death", about scientists sent to an Arctic research station to check out bizarre radio messages transmitted by a colleague. They find him dead, and then odd things begin to happen to them as well. You don't really find out until the very last, chilling camera shot just who or what is behind it -- and the surprise is a good one.
Thanks for posting that. I had a vague recollection of seeing that when I was a kid, but seeing it again now a lot of it came back to me, especially the guy impaled on the marlin, and the priest switcheroo towards the end. Not a great movie, but fun to watch again. I used to love those "unexplained mysteries" when I was a kid.
And how appropriate that the devil appeared as a priest!
I can understand why someone would not consider this movie scary in the midst of all of these other high tech movies in the new millenium. But in 1975 when you do not have any of this tech stuff, the subject is the devil, and your only about 8 years old...YES it does scare you and could even cause you to have bad dreams. Thanks for posting!
very eerie film. Interesting take on the "triangle" concept. The final scenes were very creepy and although I seemed to figure it out in the final moments it was still quite jolting. Thanks for the upload. I didnt remember this one.
It was a good film....not the scariest ever...have you ever seen the Franco-Dutch version of The Vanishing or the 1961 "The Innocents" starring Deborah Kerr? Much scarier but still for a TV movie pretty damn creepy.
This movie scared the shit out of me more than 20 years ago and I must admit it still rocks! Thanks a lot for por posting and greetings to everyone who just got their memories revived!
@lespaulfanofsparta......I got it into my head that it was haig who downed the chopper....ohhh how i was wrong.....and also thought the devil had a beard.....one of the best twists to a film i have ever seen......totally got me at the time......and have been waitin over 20 odd years to see again......now gonna watch it all again.....he he....buzzin !!!!!!............nice 1 robbmc.....top man...!!!!!
@lespaulfanofsparta......I got it into my head that it was haig who downed the chopper....ohhh how i was wrong.....and also thought the devil had a beard.....one of the best twists to a film i have ever seen......totally got me at the time......and have been waitin over 20 odd years to see again......now gonna watch it all again.....he he....buzzin !!!!!!
Awesome find! I still get a nice creep out from the discovery and verbal pilot fight but, it's amazing how you mis-remember things from way back. I always thought the priest said "you're mind is gone Haig" and then he goes out the door which made sense to me when he immediately jumps but, he just says, "you're mine." Then I thought he laid his hands on the pilot's head but, nope. I also thought there was a song with 5'2 eyes of blue but, I must have attached that too. Wow, my mind is blown.
@robbjmc Wha'ts really interesting is I think my memory of this film is a composite of all the schoolyard discussion afterwards. Night Stalker and stuff from around this period is much more vivid in my mind versus film as every kid sort of piled on their take and some takes stuck with me versus what I saw. I think someone said the last shot was the priest swimming towards a boat so, now I think I saw this in rerun after hearing about it. It's like some urban legend of the mind now revealed.
thanks for the upload i didnt think it was bad to me it was kinda creepy because of the B Triangle and all iv heard about the area and movies about the devil freak me out to i was born in 72 so i grew up watching movies like this and still like em so any way thanks for the upload thumbs up
I think that the general movie going public has become de-sensitized to horror films now, I remember watching this film and The exorcist back in the 70's and being scared to hell, then when the exorcist ban was lifted in the UK I went to the movies to watch it with some younger friends who had never seen it the 1st time around and it had no effect on them, other than making them laugh at some of the curses the girl comes out with, yet in the 70;s people were fainting and puking while watching it
We do see a lot more effects in films now and rely a lot less on our imaginations. "Scariest movie ever" will always be a qualified title...for me, a movie like "Saw" just makes me wince.
How is this the scariest movie ever? To be honest, it really sucked. I was bored stiff and the twist was hardly scary. I'm actually really disappointed and kinda bummed; I was hoping to be scared.
@XquisiteVx Sorry it did not live up to the title for you...the idea of being subtly undermined by someone you trust...who turns out to be the devil, well, that's pretty scary to me. And I was young when I saw it. The 70s had a bunch of great films considered dull by today's standards (The Exorcist bores the crap outta me). But newer movies are often just of the jolt-and-gore variety and don't do it for me either.
@robbjmc To be honest, if I would have watched this movie when I was younger, it would have frightened me as well. But the problem is: I have seen one too many horror movies at this point and nothing seems to phase me anymore. Also the fact that I've never been a big believer in the devil doesn't help. That being said, thanks for the upload anyway. At least I can say I have seen it.
@BLITZKRIEGBIKER Lol I'm a spoiled moron because I didn't enjoy a movie? I can already tell you are a person who has no intelligence whatsoever. I have never watched a 3D movie, nor do I enjoy graphics. How about instead of assuming shit you pull your head out of your ass and think before you talk you fucking pathetic cunt.
@XquisiteVx Wow, I am impressed you can talk vulgar and tough hiding behind a keyboard, you and I both know in person it would be much different, right. So, be the big man and hide behind your computer little boy and talk keyboard tough. Lol, total jerk.
@BLITZKRIEGBIKER HAHA YOU STARTED INSULTING ME! I can assure you that I would talk the same amount of shit to you face-to-face. Can you comprehend that? You seem to be really dense so you may not understand what I just said. And just so we're clear, I'm not a "little boy". Anyone with any ounce of intelligence would be able to infer that I am of the opposite gender just based on my username. I feel wrong for arguing because it feels like I'm arguing with a handicapped person.
@XquisiteVx Maybe so, I watch many videos, but mostly political and what is contemporary for the moment in relation to FEMA camps, Martial Law, World War III, Major Financial Collapse, Wall Street, Zionist Jewish control of the Banking system, Congress and Wars. Your responses are of really no concern to me whatsoever. My major premise is what is happening TODAY in relation to it's effect on our world and my personal family. As to your gender, I apologize, so FK U BITCH! lol
@BLITZKRIEGBIKER Lol if they were of no concern you wouldn't have started arguing with me in the first place you dumbass. But I digress. You're obviously a troll.
@XquisiteVx Then don't waste your time talking to a troll, it will get you no where. You exercise convoluted logic. I have moved on to more interesting videos that dip into the intellect. So stop responding and I will not have to come back to answer your uneducated responses.
Someone that I've made contact with on the Internet and who was a friend of Doug's wife, said it was filmed off Ventura, California, probably not far from where Kim Novak lives at Big Sur. I thought the music was good.
robbjmc, Thanks for posting Satan's Triangle this memorable 1975 made for TV horror movie I haven' t seen this creepy movie in years This movie is from a time when quite a few really good TV horrors were made like Haunt s Of The Very Rich I see the Sy/Fy channel logo in the corner I wish Sy/Fy CEOs would take a good look at this movie, and learn to do something better than Giant Mega Shark vs.Giant Octopus , alien mutated prehistoric Mammoth.
@beewardrobe Funny -- I was just saying this exact thing yesterday when my sister asked how it had held up all these years. Still scary...but the music was of its time.
A fine movie. Thanks for upload.
