  • Yeah, blues!!!

  • don't let that spirit dies

  • Brings back good memories! Damn though...i think munggipossu has just cost me some money...i think i have to go check them out in Toronto in October thanks to him posting this track.

  • one of the best oldtimers...

  • Musik era as

  • @gregoryhovb This isn't bloody movie!

  • Metallica were opening for saxon on the U.S. leg of saxon´s "the eagle has landed" tour of 1982, although not yet recorded and released this song was a part of the set list and was recorded 4 months later to be the 8th track of the "power and glory" album....yada yada that´s probably were metallica got the inspiration for that riff as they were huge fans of Saxon...

  • grymt

  • 3:36 Hear Metallica's Fade to Black, anyone?

  • @ericsyre

No, that is Saxon's The Eagle Has Landed :P

  • @ericsyre The Eagle Has Landed was released in 1983, whereas Metallica's Fade To Black was released in 1984... so who's plagiarizing who?

  • @ericsyre theyre not the same riff btw, similar but definitely not the same

  • @ericsyre These guys were first...

  • you can say what you want about bands like saxon and krokus..they may not have been the best bands of the 80's but they are better then the bands around nowadays. growing up in the 80's i was lucky enough to be a part of the whole metal scence and these bands inspired me and the bands i played in. i miss the 80's when metal ruled and songs actually had guitar solos in them

  • @85ESL I'm 17 and am very involved in the metal 'scene'. The bands are differant, the styles are differant, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Metal was never mainstream, well, *good* metal was never mainstream, and great shit has been released very recently.

  • under produced band if you ask me at 13 maiden /acdc /Sabbath.purple/but hell man saxon had influenced me powerer and the glory

  • @TheMasterDokken Is He Usin' A slide

  • I was able to watch part two of the full length movie in High Definition bluRay quality here >> bit.ly\iS6hQ8 << the ending is really sweet!! :)

  • when I get to hear an orgasm ...

  • Seen The Mighty SAXON 3 times. First time with Fastway, Saxon and Iron Maiden early 80's. Second time they headlined at the Hollywood Palladium in LA, CA. early 80's. third time in Redondo Beach, CA. small club early 90's. The Mighty SAXON is so under rated in the States. I have tickets for there up an coming gig at The Key Club in West Hollywood, CA. on 9/28/11. I will not miss it for the world. SICK right?

  • Really odd, as I was never a great Saxon fan, even though I bought a couple of their LPs in my sweaty youth (LPs = 33.3rpm for those still with acne!). Nevertheless, you can't take it from them, they are up there with Sabbath & Priest and all those other heavy midlands groups (I'm a Scot, so thanks England :).

  • I thank my dad for sharing me this music with me

  • @TheMasterDokken I only need to see the name Dokken. It explains the dislike. Just like Jerry Lee Lewis hated the fuck out of Elvis. Superior shit rained on mediocraty's parade.

I bet you like Def Leppard too.

  • @TrustYourOwnInstinct I really don't know what the hell you're talking about, Dokken is a great band. I bet you haven't heard half of their early stuff, yet you are running your mouth about them

  • man this is probably what neil armstrong listened to just b4 touching down on the moon..

  • @KGODSMACKC The moon landing happened over two decades before this album was released.

  • @RotnRoll77 i know dude, but jus imagine man, ure just there staring down at the earth with this song just rocking in your helmet..dont tell me that wouldnt be epic

  • This reminds me of Pat Travers. Crash and Burn.

  • one of the heaviest songs ever!!! I saw saxon a few times.... never disappointed.... one concert got cancelled, Saxon was the headliner, with Riot (not quiet riot) Randy hansen, The joe perry project, and motley crue was the opening band of this gig!! it was at the concord pavillion in concord CA, and it got cancelled cuz Biff got a sore throat!! I still woulda went for the other 4 bands, but it never happened!! what a great gig that woulda been!!!

  • lot of melancholy for me on this song, i loved it some 28 yrs ago, still like it!

  • Saw Saxx play this Last Night first time I've ever seen them and Their still Awesome Live!!!

  • timeless track, and much better than 99,5% of the crap today...

    those were the days.....

  • @zbv500

Hi,i totally agree with you \m/

  • Wow Metallica ripped this off too. However thanks to them I Discovered a few of these bands. NWOBHM had some great bands.

  • Wow Fade Black Anyone

  • Someone should make a video of the lunar module landings on the moon or the Yanks landing on the beaches of Normandy with this song.Awesome tune!!

  • this was one of the best metal albums of that era.... saxon fucking rocks!

  • What a tune, along with Dallas 1pm and Crusader, epic Saxon.

  • I have a turntable and i also have this album since i´ll bought when i was 16.

God damn, pump up the volume and put the needle on the record.

Lay down on ground and still listen!!!!!!

  • great the best of the best hardrock do fucking bad

  • COOL!Ich bin wieder 17!!!!

  • @harryno100 hehe

  • Brings back some memories, great album...

  • Some nob thinks this has been ripped off from Fade to Black, by Metallica. That's priceless ...

  • Comment removed

  • fade to black still better!!!! FUCK EM ALL

  • @rayana7x and Metallica haven't stolen riffs off anybody have they? Noooooo!!! Of course they haven't .... ;-)

  • if you dont have any fuckin ideas dont fuckin steal !!!! FADE TO BLACK METALLICA RIFF FUCK YOU SAXON

  • @rayana7x This was made one year before fade to black apparently so shhh

  • @rayana7x this is before fade to black hahahahaha how do u like metallica now hahahhaha

  • @rayana7x are you retarded? This song came out long before Fade To Black, and they don't sound anything alike.

  • rock at its best

  • i thought they were from san diego ... but this is a 30 year old song and i still dig it

  • Headphones...I used to paint and draw a lot. You could just feel how this song was building up. I love the drums here...double bass kicking. Hard guitar...then acoustic and tempting you to go there. Most Beatle's songs were over by the first verse. It's a long song but before you know it...it's kicking your ass into high gear - mayhem of glory. The Power and the Glory. Damn, so few remember Saxon!

  • The version on Rock'n'Roll Gypsies is my favorite

  • nuff said bout brit metal. they f---ing rock.

  • Oh btw, im 16

  • @kalisalpeter You're 16? So fuck!

  • @kalisalpeter attention whore

  • Found this tune on an old LP of my father... Became curious and listened to it with our turntable. I listened to that song 3 times, its awesome!

  • This song really is awesome

  • This song rocks!! The first man on Mars should be listening to this song as he places foot in the red dust. At least there are some true metalheads out there - love the comments every1

  • thank you

  • saxon,good metal

  • CHILLS THROUGH SPINE with this tune and with the Crusader i get a need for action lots of it ;)

  • Fuck yes, this is what im talking about

  • saw thm n 84. have ALL there albums, yes vin! Im 50. Seen all the 80 music. go live music.

  • This album reminds me of high school... Freshman year, I think... Great metal... This is before they 'sold out' to the American radio style... They are back, however, and as true to their roots as ever... I highly recommend picking up "Heavy Metal Thunder", which are remakes of all their classic jams...

  • the old and good heavy metal, this album is perfect! all the tracks, monster of rock.

    tanks biff and guys...

  • I was looking through my old vinyl collection and pulled out this album. I must have really listened to this record because the gooves were worn down to nothing.

  • also this album power and the glory from saxon is an excellent part of guitar history of this damn good guitar 80s

this overtaking voice takes the rest to an overtaking album... get em yet, also 2010

  • Love Biff Byfords echoed voice ...this song is EPIC. Got to learn to play it.

  • It's Saccrilidge that this Classic Number Has'nt Even got 10,000 Views and Complete Bullshite Bands Rack up Views In the Millions. No Justice In this World.

  • @insaneclownbrian Might say something about the rare gift of having an ear for brilliant music?

  • @insaneclownbrian You are absolutely right!!

  • @insaneclownbrian It's **s*acrilegious* that this *c*lassic *n*umber *h*as*n*'t *e*ven got 10,000 *v*iews and *c*omplete *b*ullshit *b*ands *r*ack up *v*iews *i*n the *m*illions. No *j*ustice *i*n this *w*orld.

    whew, readable.

  • take it easy take it slow the eagle has landed sounds like sex what a dirty mind i have by the way i a not a guy

  • Saxon was the worlds best opening band during the 80's. I was lucky enough to see them with Maiden as well as a handfull of other bands. I want to say they opened for Def Leppard as well as Ratt in early 82 or 83. They were the best at what they did.

  • I remember them opening for Maiden as well here in Tucson, AZ. Always been one of my favorite bands..............

  • I bought this record when I was 12, I wish still had a turntable.

  • @000MrAnderson Haha.. i know that feeling. That is why i bought a turntable 10 years ago so i still could play my Saxon, Iron Maiden, Motorhead vinyl's. Sitting in a darkened room, a whisky next to me and listening to my old records. Perfect..:)

  • @000MrAnderson why don't you down load it?

  • @kuroguchi

I have downloaded since then. I'm an old fokker so I still I think vynil still sounds the best! If you ever get a chance to listen to old vynil you won't be disappointeted. I promise you!

  • @000MrAnderson I have it on casette XD

  • @000MrAnderson

Unless your bass made the stylus frequently jump as mine did... lol

  • @000MrAnderson

I do and don't...... whenever the bassline truly kicked in it blew the stylus off the record..... had to end up taping it lol...

  • one of my first hardrock bands i liked and stil the best . just fucking great

  • @trckale Heavy Metal

  • Yeah I remember seeing this live opening for Maiden on the Piece of Mind tour. Nigel Glocker did a great drum solo prior to this song and I was a Saxon fan from that point on. The early 80's, what a great time to be a metal fan.

  • Oh Man, I too saw them live in Denmark...the main band was Accept. LOL

It takes me way back and I simply love the live album from Nottingham 83.

Its simply gold and I miss the energy and music from that time......

  • i also saw them open for maiden piece of mind tour man you just cant see shows like that anymore

  • I saw them with maiden on this tour..And this song was the best jam i heard that night i think..It was very powerful..And they opened up for maiden! During the piece of mind tour even!

  • ha...I got to see them live!! Love the 80's!!!

  • @jodehle iv never stopped listening to saxon from the 80 until present day.and at last i got to see them live in london only last year,ROCK ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • man this song takes me back...way back to times that was much simpler ! light up if ya got it and take a step :) cause this song is gonna rock ya.

  • I`ve always been a fan though. But Power was my first album. Didn´t understand this track at first ;-) God, I LOVE it by now !

  • Still one of my favourite Saxon tunes, and dammit there are so fu***** many of them, but chances are if u are watching this vid, u have gr8 taste like me and u already know what an awesome British metal band this is! :o)

  • Ooohh, I so love the drums break at 4 : 10 !! Start listening at 4:06

  • Cassic tune. Not really a mad Saxon fan, but always loved this album.

  • Classic...!

    I love this song.

  • Great Song! But I don't understand the sense of the Lyrics. Maybe someone can help me? The song reminds me of the endi of Fade to Black from Metallica

  • @HeavyBlank The eagle is a symbol of progress and hope. It is with that sense it's being used in the song. The eagle carries the flag of mankind and sets new frontier. Maybe there are allusions for mankind's travels to space. The artist expresses the wish that the eagle, his poetic symbol, won't forget the individual, as well as the nation or mankind as a whole, for the sake of progression. This is my interpretatio anyway!

  • Does anyone play the way these guys do?

    NO

  • Top tune

  • Awesome, just awesome

  • Great track by a top 80s metal outfit....cool!!!!
