  • McNamara Said it was a WAR CRIME! SO U CAN FUCK OFF! If they drop a bomb on your city, don't call it TERRORISM!!

  • wow ppl, i agree with nitsua but the bomb for the most part was dropped to end the war swiftly and give the middle finger to the russians at the potsdam declaration

  • The 2 bombs "little boy" and "fat man" dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were in response to the war crimes acted out by the Japanese military such as 1) Surprise attack on Pearl Harbor 2) the Bataan Death March on P.O.W. and 3) the Manila Massacre on innocent civilians and it did save the 500,00 to at least 1,000,000 lives that the American side would have lost in the invasion... suck it... Get on my level bitch.

  • ur prolly a communist

  • U really are anti american, les send ur ass back into ww2 and les see what happens, u wud prolly die b4 it happnd but if u lived in time 2 see the atomic bomb end the war rather then u invade, u wud hav cried u wud hav been so happy

  • Dude, you are so wrong. I have researched this topic (not for history day but another program, but i have done history day for a few years) and you obviusly hate Americans and dont value their lives. If we didnt drop the bomb at least One million americans would have died or been injured (the number of purple hearts made before the invasion so we could give them to soldiers on site) we still use those purple hearts today because they are still left over. I hope you feel bad you Anti American!

  • @justforkicks909 that is a very narrow-minded way of looking at the war. dick.

  • This years topic is a little bit douchy because I don't know what I want to do mines on plus this is my first year doing history day so I hope I do good for a first timer...

  • I'm doing one of these this year...on Women Voting Rights. The theme is debates in history.

  • what kind of program are u using here? im using movie maker lol

  • But why two bombs instead of one? Isn't one enough to prove the point?

  • Great documentary

  • I agree with the Japanese perspective. No people, no matter what they've done, deserve the horrors inflicted on the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The civilians were the ones who felt the pain, not Japan itself. The moral implications of Truman's decision were terrible.

  • @NaomiToraful You're an idiot. The Japanese didn't deserve it? The American G.I.s didn't deserve The Bataan Death March. The Japs were warned to surrender several times, and refused. They were determined to fight to the last person when the Americans invaded. They got what they deserved!

  • @southwriter The Japanese military was evil, end of story. The civilians, on the other hand, didn't really do anything but get starved by the military. Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed ordinary people, not the military. At any rate, war sucks.

  • @NaomiToraful Yes, the Jap military was evil. Another evil thing they did was to build military complexes in the center of civilian enclaves. They purposely did that to put the horror of war into their own people's faces, thereby emboldening them to take part of killing Americans once the inland invasion of Japan began. There was no way around it- in order to bomb out very important military targets would entail some destruction of innocent civilian lives.

  • i love ur documentary

may i ask where u got the video clips?

and if anyone else knows where to find them, it would be most appreciated

    thankies

  • The 2 atomic bomb on Japan is well deserve.

Japanese soldiers surrendered and went home. They did not kill themselves.

  • this is a really good documentary...i wish my nhd documentary were this good

  • MacNamara, said if the USA had lost the war. They woulda all be tried as war criminals.

  • Wow! Please check out my documentary on Norman Borlaug, we got 3rd in Washington State and 1st at regionals. Please comment and leave any suggestions- I want to know what I could have done better, thanks.

  • This is so good! I love the beginning. I was in NHD this year and came in 3rd at States. I'm not going onto Nationals, but I still want some feedback on what I could have done better. Check out my video!

  • I'm jellybean's partner in crime, baybay!

  • I'm doing the same topic as you and mine is nowhere as good as yours. you defenitly deserved this win. amazing.

  • great documentary, great information, great transition between video, pictures, expert dialogue, and your own voice. This should be a 1st place winner for sure.

  • this is an amazing documentary!! great job!!

  • tHIS VIDEO ROCKS...

the cool part is tat i'm also doing NHD for 2008. I won 1st place at state and i'm going to mary land at june 13 to compete for NHD...Now the funny thing is tat u guys been talking about how movie maker suks and stuff..

Well heres the ting! i won state with movie maker but i think i need more tan tat to win nationals, so tats y i bought the "SONY VEGAS 8" for 600 bucks at best buy.. Hope to see any competetors there.

    My doc. is on Youtube

    Its called: "The Big Three"

  • what software did you use?

  • does anyone know if a documentary as good as this can be made with Movie Maker? or do you have to have some complex program? I'm doing an NHD project and its not turning out too well with Movie Maker...

  • movie maker won't work... because it does not have too many features to use, in terms of special effects and such

  • Actually, Movie Maker DOES work, but not as well, ya.

Because a friend did a documentary with Movie Maker, but it didn't make it to State.

  • I am doing nhd this year and have one the school division. My partners and I are going to History Day LA and are hoping to win and go to state. Wish us luck.

  • half that stuff is wrong dude

  • And you're a genius because...?

  • uh dude. my brother made this -.-" and where's your proof its wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • Great film! I thought the Japanese military did not want to surrender to the US even after the atomic bombs were dropped. Some of them almost stopped the Japanese emperor from announcing his surrender on the radio.

  • Hey! I won NHD this year in the Junior Group Documentary Division with my vid on the Great Seattle Fire. Check out my channel if you like. Did you use Final Cut too, by any chance? I'll be participating in senior individual doc next year, tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • THAT'S MY BROTHERS!!!!! :)

  • That is pretty good. I am participating in NHD this year. I won 1st place for individual documentary at regionals and states is this week. This is a good topic. I've always been interested in the A Bomb. In fact had they not dropped it, I might not be here because my Grandfather would have been a part of the invasion of Japan.

  • I like the music from Shenmue, Sega Dreamcast (2000)

  • lol

  • Did you make this film?

  • yes i made this film.

  • Ok then I'll apologize and FTR I was told wrong about your documentary that's why I showed up here gunning for your documentary which in all fairness is fair.

  • ok. no worries.

  • uh......why did my view count go up like a million in one day?

  • I think because it was posted on crooksandliars dot com on the 8th.

btw, you INFERRED that grazon meant you aided the republicans because grazon IMPLIED it (common misuse--even by me).

  • The Republican party would like to thank you for aiding them in their attempts to villinize FDR and Truman.

  • dude did you even watch the video? the whole premise of the video is that truman made a firm decision as a stand against Stalin. i am not villinizing truman. go away.

  • I don't remember ever saying you villinized Truman.

  • it's kind of hard not to imply that from your statement that I aided the republican party in vilinizing truman.

  • Did you make this film?

  • This video pwns! You've captured both the immense tragedy as well as the true historical context of the event, and presented the viewpoints of each side in an unbiased manner. The visuals are striking, powerful, and well varied. Every documentary should be this good. A++

  • I've seen a lot of NHD entries from my classmates in the past few years, and this surpasses them all. It was very well organized and had a very nice balance of pictures, video clips, and quotes. You guys spoke clearly and fluently and I could understand everything you said. The only thing that seemed odd was your pronounciation of "Hiroshima." Congratulations on winning nationals, you deserved it.

  • Nice job, this year i'm entering a individual performance about FDR, regionals in 2 weeks.
