As I understand it 80s plastic surgery included to injecting of silicon directly into the lips and sometimes cheekbones areas. Pete had had a terrific nosejob and excellent cosmetic dentistry. This interview in 1989 he had achieved his aim in perfecting his look. Sadly just like Priscilla Presley and many, many others the silicone absorbed into the skin. Pete had it re-applied and again it absorbed. For the next decade had to have surgeries to save his face! He's a brave guy.
