  • I Love Front Street in Lahaina, specially Ulalani's Shaved Ice, I love Maui!

  • ahh the good old banyan tree, i nick named it the bunion tree after i watched the movie grown ups before i went there

  • u forgot to mention the abc store, oh wait that would be difficult since there are about 3 in lahaina. i miss lahaina and maui

  • @NathanielBlack12 Have been walking Front Street the last several evenings. You are spot on about the several ABC stores... Also several Whalers General Stores, EZ Discount Stores... My daughter had to check each one to discover minute price differences for some particular brand of Maui bronzing suntan lotion.

  • @LahainaDad

hahaha, my aunt does the same as your daughter, so have you gone on another vacation there then?

  • @NathanielBlack12 Yes I'm here for two weeks. Retired now, so will begin spending more time on Maui.

  • @LahainaDad

that will be good, hope you enjoy it

  • I miss this place...

  • lol @ loud music restaurant. just got back from maui from a 2 week vacation and loved it there. lahaina was great. spent hours walking the whole front street back and forth. beautiful place. hope to visit again soon.

  • Baby beach a short distance from Front Street is also great. See my show on Baby Beach in the near future. Peace RHT

  • Lahaina has a lot more activities for vacationers, but would be a lot more expensive location to live than Wailuku, which is the Maui county government center. So I would say live in or around Wailuku where you work, and then visit Lahaina and all those other fun places on the west side of Maui.

  • im going to waliku on december to work , can you tell me what place is better lahaina or wailuku , i hope i can go to lahain on my free timebeacause i have seen they are far away in the island

  • Moose McGillicuddys is my favorite.

  • Thanks for sharing. We were there april 2010, shoud've done this as well. brings back great memories.

  • Wow! This brings back memories of when I was growing in Paia and my family used to go to Lahaina alot back in the 60's.

  • Hey me and 3 friends are going to Maui for a school break. We are all 21 or 22. We want a beautiful beach where our hotel is situated but at the same time we want to be close to somewhere for nightclubs and drinks. Do you think Kaanapali Beach would be the best place for a hotel and than hit up Lahaina for drinks? Thanks a ton!

  • @robluongo Yes, you picked the right spot - Kaanapali - for beach and Lahaina Front Street is the best place to wander up and down for activity and drinks. But nightclubs? If you are talking about dance type places like you are used to in college, I am not so sure about that on Maui.

  • @LahainaDad Great thanks for your help! We found a great place called Timba that we are going to go to. Any recommendations for fish tacos or any kind of Maui food that is a must? Thanks again!

  • @robluongo Maui Tacos does fish tacos. You can do a search for their address. And Aloha Mixed Plate at 1285 Front Street is the common man's plate lunch restaurant - my type of place.

  • This video was taken in the afternoon. Not early morning.....

  • @Aliiloa2010 Way to go! We got up early, went to beach, and then caught this on way back to our hotel. And shadows show that this was when sun was in west part of sky. So I will go with 'early' afternoon. Partly here I was just trying to communicate that Front Street is not all that crowded 'early', but really fills up with activities and people 'later' and during evening/night.

  • @LahainaDad

are u gonna give him a medal?

  • You forgot to mention Moose Mc Gillycuddy's restaurant..... LOL!!!!

  • @Aliiloa2010 Sorry about that. I do have a page on Moose McGillycuddy's on my website. I would like to add a whole group of stops since I first uploaded this video, but Youtube doesn't allow video 'updates'.

  • i love lahaina! greetings from switzerland

  • beautiful place, beautiful people...love the old lahaina luau, and the lahaina pizza place (thats some great pizza..lol) had a ball in Maui...hated to leave :(

  • Awh :( I miss Lahaina, I used to live there and man it brings back memories :))) Such a beautiful place :))))))

  • What a great video, we are from Scotland and going back to Maui in September for our honeymoon as we had such an amazing holiday there in 2008 when we got engaged. This video brings back memories and has got us all excited about going back!

  • How;s the night life? Are there many bars and restaurants open late?

  • @diozent Yes the whole street is line with mostly 'combo' restaurant bars that stay open late, several with live music. This video was taken early morning so not many folks along Front Street, but evenings and especially weekends the walkways are jammed packed with pedestrians. As the evening progresses, fewer families and more party people.

  • Wow, I'm quite impressed with how walkable Lahaina appears. It sorta reminds me of Sausalito.

  • love this; feels like ridin' down the road for real, big mahalo for doin' this, maui no ka oi!

  • Man i luv all da how the tourist take pics of lil things us locals find pointless haha and its funni cause once my hula teacher came out of the car just to scream at the tourist who were at a dangerously low part of the hill thing and by the hard waves crash and taking pics and then ppl ask why so much tourist die in hawaii...haha but anyways i wish u guys have fun in da islands but plz have comonn sense...

  • There is a restaurant in Carson California called " Back Home in Lahaina" . They have a wall that is painted like the scene at 00:51. We always sit in front of the painting and dream of Lahaina. They have ono kaukau.

  • the japanese kobe steakhouse has some amazing steak, its a tad pricey though. I lived in East Maui though, upcountry. Kula to be exact.

  • Gasp. How dare you dont mention the best resturant in the world. 2:53 on the left Cool Cat's burger resturant. Best place EVER. Favorite thing on the menu, "The Duke". Love Lahaina. i wanna move there. Im in California so im used to the heat and the water here is so disgusting compared to maui's water. Here its a greenish brown and dead stuff washes up all the time, Birds, fish ect...

  • @TheBassguy1 I'm from Alaska and I've been to Maui twice. NOTHING in Lahaina beats Cool Cat's for good eating. My favorite thing on the menu was the BBQ rib plate.

  • was so wild in 1972

  • be careful of Centipedes in Hawaii,, my mother was bit by one sitting under the tree at the Banyan Tree Park 2:50 not fun, ouch

  • @yark72 The friend I was with was bit by a centipede when she sat down on one on a bench in the Waikiki Marketplace.

  • I was there for 2 weeks last July.

  • Hm...

I just moved back home from here last month.

Not a lot of people on Front St. when this was filmed.

  • @RCRhythm Good observation. I just added to the video description: "I filmed this early morning before the crowds show up." Filming early in the day makes the video quicker, because you don't have to watch a non-moving video as I stop in the street for crossing pedestrians and stopped cars. But a lot of the excitement of Front street is the energy from those hordes of people.

  • @LahainaDad I've been trying to find a way to move back there. I really loved it. I had a hard time finding a job, though. Also had a hard time finding a place with affordable rent. But it was such an amazing place that I just stayed until I ran completely out of money.

I'd do just about anything to get back there.

  • @RCRhythm I moved back to the mainland about 2 years ago now and god damn do I regret it. I would rather live on the beach and be poor in Maui than be wealthy here on the mainland. Fuck it right, Im not married. Probably the best pure time in my life and the surfing was amazing, swell all day everyday on the north shore. Oh, and Peahi going off. Good times good times

  • im goin her for 3 weeks

  • was there in 1976 when i was 7

  • lol! i judt got bak from there xD

  • where is b.j. Penn>>?????????????????????????

  • I loved this place! Take your time and stroll for a few hours...check out all the trinkets and trash to take home with you...one upscale art outlet gave me a glass of red wine and told me about the art from Picasso, Tony Curtis, Red Skelton etc. They had one that looked detailed but when you got up close it was just colored blobs of oil paint...and dont forget to try the coconut Shraaaamp at Bubba Gumps...mmmmmm tasty! Have fun you lucky people going there soon! Mahalo!

  • i grew up in lahaina, thanks for sharing this vid! :}

  • Ohh, the memories.

  • cant wait to be back watching the sunset in old lahaina maui this is my home away from home its an amazing place!

  • Aah... Memories....Moose McGillicutty's where I had my first "Meadow Muffin" ( so yummy"!!, The Blue Lagoon where I got engaged and made strangers cry, the tattoo shop ( I forgot the name) where my mom got a tattoo, the guy with the dreedlocks walking down the street saying "Maui Wow Wee for sale"! Im sad now! I miss Maui!!!

  • my wife and I were on that street many times and all the time we are back home (clinton township Michigan) we think about going back. Last time there was july 08

  • Love it
