They should change "duty to inform" to "duty to ask". i.e. the officer should be required by law to to ask "do you have a concealed carry permit? Do you have a weapon on you? This would put the responsibility on law enforcement and give the respondent the opportunity to clearly answer the question. Failure to ask the question or to allow the answer would then negate failure to give the information.

I grew up in an area where firearms were not unusual. I can easily imagine getting pulled over by cops and not thinking about whether they would care about the weapon I happened to have on me. I am just curious why they just started searching the car without asking first.. Did we stop requiring a warrant for a search?? I would have said I don't consent to a search of my vehicle. Once all of this happened I would have sued for at least 200 million.
@EcPercy: I think officers can search the area of an automobile that a suspect can access in order to verify that there are no weapons. After all, everyone wants to go home at the end of the day.
However, officers lose this power to search if the suspects are not in the automobile. So some officers leave suspects in the cars so they can search.
The end result is the officer puts his own self in danger just so he can search.

However, officers lose this power to search if the suspects are not in the automobile. So some officers leave suspects in the cars so they can search.
The end result is the officer puts his own self in danger just so he can search.

The victim tried to tell the second officer while he was searching but the officer ordered him not to talk. If he had ignored him and said he had a weapon he could have been killed. First off, the driver shouldve been more assertive in alerting the cop with the permit and weapon.
After saying that, the cops in this video are idiots, really? He didn't want to mention his permit? He had it in his hand.. wtf? the video clearly shows he was trying to show the cop it. The cop berating his own beliefs and using foul language/threats against the individual.
Cops like this are the reason why cops in general get bad reputations. I hope that ignorant cop gets fired and sued.
