They don't, but the old ones that weren't any good never got the "classic" status that these old movies you are talking about. So there are old bad movies, they just aren't remembered.

Also most of the movies that are remembered are groundbreaking in some sort of area of film making, so they get positive reviews. Also most old films are better.
