  • funny that the tory actor spokesman thinks that in 2012 we will all get telepathic powers, tells you all you need to know about the tories,

  • This guy makes sense! The Tories are making cuts but if they dont make cuts now the national debt will get bigger and the economy will go back into recession. If you dont believe me read the Budget 2011 the Tories are supporting the poor!!

  • looking good for 78

  • Chavs <3 Dave

    Just call him Dave

    Don't call him Margaret

David with some ordinary, working class people

    Behold, his TRUE form!

Cameron consideres the 'stiff' competition during the election.

"Dave" is very strict about fiddling expenses.

The Right Honorable mother fucking epic, David “Just call me Dave” Cameron is the leader of the Tories (also known as the Party of Evil or Party of First Born Baby Killers) and is charged with making the Lemon Party Aka Labour and Gordon Brown look like idiots.

  • just tax the wealthy, death tax for them .... cheers

  • Very Intelligent and wonderful man. So he's a tory voter. His Choice. I cant understand the logic of those who dont like the man or the party he represents here commenting. Personally, every government ahs 'flaws' one way or another. I ddint vote for the tories but David Cameron and Nick Clegg are surprisingly proving themselves right now. Refusal to give anymore power to brussels, keeping our own currency. Isnt this what you the british people want? Think about it carefully.

  • So the BBC's into politics now.. this guys speaking for them... he's from a current program, shown on TV.. this should be removed.. it's like news readers.. they must be impartial.. you tube must realise this.. the blue rinse brigade will get confused.. and upset and think he's a genuine politician..

  • He's on ITV dickhead.

  • he can't even act when he's reading this garbage of an autocue............Conservatives giving dignity and security in old age? really..........is that why Currie urged them to put on another jumper in the winter? Surely the words Conservative, social and care do not go together......

  • how vile

  • Well considering how badly Labour shot themselves in the foot over the Gene Hunt adverts, Its only fair the tories should do the same. Don't forget they also have Jim Davidson and Nicholas van Hoogstraten, Joan Collins the Spice Girls; Sir Tim Rice; Andrew Lloyd-Webber; Frank Bruno; Cilla Black; Jimmy Tarbuck; Frederick Forsyth and Brian Ferry voting for them! Now that would make me vote Labour!

  • Are those Unite the Union dishes in the background???!!!

  • I'm William Roche absolutely loaded because being one of the UK's most over paid soap actors since 1960. Selfish man.

  • The social care we need as a society would cost £20k per head.

Even if the insurance is voluntary, then it would still have to cost AT LEAST £20k per head. (Insurance companies don't lose money).

Who can afford that - upfront??

Social care will become like private medicine - only available to those with money.

No wonder the Tories are in favour!!

  • what an idiotic comment. In fact, there's quite a few on here. It's not about you paying the tax on death, it's your family that will pick up the bill. So rather than petty bickering on your own political views, I emplore you to consider those of your family. Before getting facts straight, keep your crap comments to yourselves.

  • perhaps he is having it off with david, or waiting to!

  • ken barlow, he is only a wanka!!!!!!!!!!

  • vote for the conservatives to help stop labour's crazy death tax plan

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, wheel out all the tory old guard. Who next? Jim Davidson on equal rights for Ethnics and Women? Cilla Black on fairness for the working classes? Not at all convincing Dave!

  • Many old people give their properties to their offspring and so avoid having to pay the full whack of nursing home charges, leaving it to the council tax payers of the borough. When is some government going to do something to change that???

  • William Roache is a supporter of the former Tory government's of Thatcher and Major whose policies have been adopted by New Labour since 1997.

    How easily he forgets.

  • William Roach is a supporter of the former Tory government whose policies have been adopted by this New Labour Government.

    H

  • I wonder how much they paid him to say this shit..

  • Good actor, lovely man,and I appreciate the fact that he is campaigning this issue. But in all fairness,it is not exactly like he can't afford whatever he wants. He is on like £250,000 a year. Why not have someone who really has nothing, like and elderly person with very little money, doing this instead?

  • the reason you can not use some one who has nothing like an elderly person is because under labour they do not count for very much no matter how hard they have worked, how much tax they have paid, william roach is talking about death taxs which effect every hard working person in the country.we work for 50 years to biuld somthing to leave our children then labour steals it as we die and gives it to the asylum seekers while we whilst our elderly live on less.

  • will roache - a sensable northener.

    VOTE FOR CHANGE.

  • No Charges For Tory Donor Over Call Girl

Tory donor and friend of David Cameron David Ross will not face charges over claims of an assault on a call girl

  • And he is "the" most boring bastard on the face of this Planet. This Cunt has had

a very very easy life. Why in the name of

Johnny Briggs should anybody take any

notice of this fucking old creep??.I say he should be sacked straight away from his easy job doing nothing all day and getting very well paid for it.The Death Tax is a total

figment of this arseholes limited imagination,This is the same bastard who backed Neil "Cash for Questions Hamilton to the hilt!!.He has no judgement

    at all.

  • @flanneryged YOU ARE A SERIOUSLY MENTAL RETARD FUCKOFF YOU PRICK

ever talk dirty to you?.What does he say,is he going to get Linus to give you a seeing to.The stupid old fosil is well past doing anything like that for himself isn't he.How is the Spelling going Creepfeeler have you got around to The Cat On The

Mat yet ha ha ha you dumb illiterate bastard Kiss Ken for me.

  • @flanneryged True story : i read years ago that in the 60s cos he was always either shagging or chasing the women cast, his nickname in the show became....' Cock Roach', Lol ; that's true

  • @kenfig I would think a Fly on Shit would be more apt a name for him.

  • Why should I trust the opinion of Ken Barlow. He's a serial cheater and complete failure.

What do you mean Ken Barlow isn't real?

Oh dear the Tory boys club really is getting desperate!

  • @zzzoe11 Ken Barlow, John McCririck and Peter Sringfellow.

  • remember conservative saying they would up the inheritance tax threshold.. does this still apply?

  • @daleyboy50 you know what. I hope it damn well does! Due to vast increases in house prices many people of only moderate means will be forced to pay this punitive, evil, labourite tax. My parents house was worth only £50,000 when it was originally bought, it is now worth within the region of £250,000 and they are far worse of financially than they were twenty years ago. So, frankly you vindictive little troll go drink yourself into a stupor.

  • whats vindictive about wanting to know if inheritance tax threshold still applies...conservatives said they would up it to bout 1 million..don't want my kids paying it.. hope they up it it effects all of us.. think your hard at home silly old man.. act your age..

  • @daleyboy50 a Northerner eh?? Forgotten about the huge swathes of countryside above Derbyshire have we. What about the country 3/5ths the size of England at the top??

Ken Barlow from coronation street is the best they can do. A ham actor and part time Druid. Dear Christ.

Dont vote Tory, its quite simply wrong.

  • Fuck this bullshit

  • Coronation Street is a disgrace to Manchester and represents us in a terribly bad light. The whole point of Coronation Street is to give a representation of the working class for viewers to laugh at and look down on. The Manchester accent gets associated with being common because of this.

I am not surprised Bill Roach is a Conservative. He is a man who is obviously just in it for the money. Just like Cameron.

    labour . org . uk

  • Why do I give a shit about Ken Barlows views on politics?

To be fair tho, he looks good for 77.

  • The dissapointing thing is that people will cast their vote based upon the opinion of their favourite z-list celebrity.

  • @ChrisViz18 well then dont't worry, labour will win hands down since they far excell at trooping out insubstantial celebrities who know little about anything never mind politics, at least this man is intelligent and knows how to speak English. Puts him ahead of Charlie Welan does it not.

  • He is basically saying that all governments just wanna tax us up to the eyeballs and fleece the system dry for their own benefits! It's a shame the terrorists are stupid and blow up buses instead of Parliament the crooks are in there!!!

  • He is 77.

  • He has a scarf.

  • Also we already have death duty (I refuse to call it inheritance tax) No more!

  • I agree with all that he says on this subject but can't stand wheeling out the celeb's to get the message across!

  • gordon browm is a grave robber and a inheritance robber vote for david cameron vote for the Conservative party i am voing for david cameron

  • I would but sorry I just dont take to the man enough to respect him never mind giving him my vote.

  • LOL, and what a political catch she is...

  • William Roache........The authentic voice of the working man.....!

  • @movement26 well i think you will find that it is quite a gruelling schedule working on coronation street and ken is how old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.will you be working at his age??.

  • Not quite sure what point you are making.....Prince Charles has a gruelling schedule, Sir Alex Ferguson (Labour) well past retirement age puts the hours in, but it is not out of necessity but one of choice.Good luck to Mr Roache but I hate celebrity political endorsements........on both sides. I remember 3 million unemployed, House reposessions at record rates, poll tax riots, Toxteth riots under the tories. Labour/Conservative means no change, both are puppets of the Banking dynasties.

  • the torys like labour are scumbags

  • I think Ken owns a ring of power

  • Acomplete cock up of a country, exployting the least who can hit back...the Elderly.I bet every politicians are well catered for.A2 tier country, the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS !!!!

  • You're clearly in the 2nd tier

  • I would never put my parent in a care home, disgusting standards, I would pay for them to live in their home.

  • Death Tax? Disgusting and dispicable.

  • What I want to know, can anybody tell me please, I have been paying into a pension scheme for years (out of an already taxed income) if I choose to take the lump sum to invest elsewhere it will be subject to tax? Why did I bother trying to be self sufficient in my retirement? Perhaps I should have spent the cash and let Godon Brown take care of me?

  • We need another world war to clear the decks a bit, governments love wars, good for the economy and industry, get rid of the unemployed by sending them off to face a machinegun, occupy more making munitions and planes.Thats where its all gone wrong, its been too peaceful since the end of the last war(s),throughout history millions have been slaughtered "defending their countries",now there's no big wars everyones breeding like rabbits and there's nothing to cull them.

  • What about abolishing retirement altogether?

It'd save a fortune in taxes & would mean that people enjoyed every last bit of life rather than moping around when their still fit and healthy. For those who need homes, they can be provided.

It was only a Bismarckian affectation to the SPD in the first place & it didn't work even then.

    I'm jus saying...

On the more practical side, why not substantially raise the pension age (say 75) & thereby offer higher pensions to those who have retired.

  • THESE COMMENTS SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTIVE! NOT MOANING! a death tax is wrong in my opinion. but voluntary insurance will be extremely expensive because not many people will do it. its a difficult issue and people saying OAP's are a blight is wrong....you will be there one day. wouldnt you like to beable to leave something for your children without the government taking 2 nice big bites out of it....1 being death tax and another being inheritance tax

  • bloody OAPs are worse than students

  • @ismcb4sc you'll be an old crock some day

  • Isn't a tax insurance another 'tax' wrapped up as 'voluntary' so, Bob's you're uncle, people 'think' it's fairer than a compulsory levy? Because, ultimately, people will pay it.

On the other hand, taking £20,000 off people, on top if inheritance tax, isn't ideal. But, considering the average cost of social care is £30,000, it could prove cheaper in the long run.

  • A "voluntary insurance scheme"... like, say, a pension?

This whole thing is a pointless attempt to introduce more taxes and nationalise elderly care. What is the point of redistributing money to people who are already too rich to receive means tested funds? It's robbing peter to pay peter. After taking a slice off the top, of course.

  • Brlliant video, a good job somebody is willing to say how they see things progressing under a Conservative Government!

  • Fine and dandy if the government offers an "Insurance" policy to go ontop of the national insurance people have paid out all their lives, they end up paying out hundreds of thousands of pounds in their lives and get a pittance back. The other thing is I wouldnt want another government to blow all the money generated by this like the last lot did with everyones pensions.I DO NOT want to see another PENNY going abroad to pay for some lazy layabouts who cant be arsed to provide for themselves.

  • @silver760

Better stop burning oil, gas, nd coal then.

  • What a cheap way of trying to win over traditional Labour voters, who would stereotypically be associated with Coronation Street.

  • No lol William Roach has been a long time supporter of the conservative party. He goes to the party conferences which are not attended by labour voters so If that was the case why does he go to them?

  • Did I say party conferences were attended by labour supporters? The point is Coronation Street can be associated with the 'Working Class' and these are typically Labour voters. Therefore by using William Roach as a way of persuasion, is in my eyes, cheap.

  • @RiggOfLancashire

"Using" William Roach ? I don't see anyone using him. He appears to be saying what he believes. Or do you think maybe he's been paid for his great acting ability. What a cynical nightmare !

  • @RiggOfLancashire

The "Traditional Labour Party" good idea !

  • such good propaganda.

  • The Tories plan is a retirement tax. And anyway it is under funded, £8K is not enough, all the experts say that it has to be £20K. Would you prefer a £20K retirement tax or a £20K death tax/ Clue: you cannot spend any money when you are dead!

  • No bit your children can. With inheritance tax and a death tax you'd have nothing of your hard earned cash left to pass on to your children. "all the experts" is a gross exaggeration. I'd rather pay if I need it than have it forced upon me wanting it or not

  • @caversmill But what if you cannot pay ? Insurance is a Very big industry !

  • @richardblogger

It's not a tax if it's voluntary by definition.

Labour's death tax is a huge disincentive to save. Why save up through out your life to provide for yourself in your later years, only for Gordon Brown to come steal it all away to pay for people that squandered their earnings.

  • @richardblogger

Do you usually complain untill the price is high-enough to "re-assure" you ?

  • it just wouldnt be a general election without all the parties slagging eachother off

  • Good on you Ken. What would Labour do to get the £20,000 from people who have no money and no house to sell on death? Would they sieze the dead person's furniture, rings, othe valuables in the house including clothes to raise some money? I think not ! This issue will cause great division - Best to spend your money before you go!

  • The welfare system in the UK is obsolete & unsustainable. Far too many people are made to expect help due to low wages, high birth rate, high cost of living and the increasing longevity of old and disabled people. Why should I be expected to pay for somebody elses care when there is no guarantee whatsoever that there would be anything left for me when I am older?

  • @NEWMICROMAN "No guarrantee" - well the state pension is as guarranteed as things get, so why not save 8000 and hand it in to ensure the provision of care when You need it. You just have to Trust, that is why it's so bad when pension funds go missing.

  • Great! We have a man who thinks he is a druid and who acts in an appalling TV program telling us to trust "cast Iron Dave" when the issue we all care about -- the EU -- they remain totally silent on except to say they love it.

Vote Tory, Lab or Lib abd you vote for the same set of moronic treasonous theives we always get. No thanks. I am voting independent.

  • You have a problem with Druids, DB? Why? Seems you might not be as independent of thought as you think.

  • @ThatsnewsTV Ha Ha Ha. How typical is that? When you grow up give me a call.

  • @DumblyBrilliant

Oh, do you like calls from "grown-ups" ?

  • I have never voted for any of these theiving snake oil merchants. All they are interested in is getting a cushy number on the gravy train and lining their nests,as soon as their bank accounts full they piss off and the house/s is/are paid for for they piss off.

  • Exactly

  • Obviously you are I'll informed. David Cameron is a millionaire already. If he wanted to just "feather his nest" he wouldn't get into such a demanding job! He doesn't need to do another days work in his life so why get into politics unless you want to make a difference?

  • I want 100% inheritance tax so not sure a death tax worries me.

  • This illustrates the possible dangers of getting labour in power again..

    ..so just vote Conservative!

  • What a lot great benefits promised from the Conservatives - free TV licence etc (which already exist, lol). No mention of an alternative care proposal? Or was there one and I was too busy swooning over Our Ken? The elderly and infirm lose everything under the current system. Doesn't look like the new proposal is much better. No one's going to come up with a decent answer.

I don't think the Tories have a clue about caring for anyone. Otoh, neither does Labour. We are so f*****.

  • @Babs05

"I don't think the Tories have a clue about caring for anyone". ... Maybe not, but they are not going to penalise those who do.

And that is a major difference whatever side of the fence you inhabit !!

  • I don't know. I'm one of Thatcher's children. I saw so many 'good ideas' start well then go belly up. We all did. How do we trust this one? It's too important an issue to take a risk on. Mind you - could it be any worse! lol There's f'all care provision around the country. Each council is free to interpret the rules as they see fit, although I hear that loophole was supposed to be closed. Except too many people still don't have access to care. Neither of these ideas seem to meet what we need.

  • @Babs05

So you pay into an insurance company. "Simple" - Or you could pay into an "investment account" at a bank, and then after the years had passed, hand-over the 8k. Or everyone could just get completely ripped-off - up to 20k - when their close relative dies. The lines are open for ideas !

  • Pay? Whatchootalkinabout 'pay'? lol

  • Love the irony of socialist Guardian reading 'Ken' coming out for the Tories! Good on you William! Hope the 'brainwashed-since-birth' Labourites' get it.

  • We have Ken's opinion - which I respect. I wonder where Dierdre stands on the issue of the "death tax'? Or for that matter, what does Blanche think?

    Oops - can't ask Blanche... :)

  • I bet you assisted suicide would save a fair few million!

The Behemoth that is Labour Government will hopefully disapear come may, then it will be up to the Conservatives to strip down the waste that has inevevitabley been produced in the last 12 years.

  • If the oldies use their brains for once and get out and vote, not down to their past habits but on the evidence as it is now presented. Gordon's next house would be cardboard box No10 under the arches at Waterloo.

The Brainwashed-from-birth labour masses just dont get it.

New Labour abandoned them in 1996!

  • If we all go into rented accommodation Gordon's plan will be up the Khyber.

  • R.I.P off Britain

  • Holy shit - KEN BARLOW!

Well, I'm definitely going to be voting Tory now they've brought out such a heavy hitter.

    L O fucking L.

  • @AlbertBundy true lol but not as obvious as the PM getting interviewed on prime time by one of his best friends, basically his only friend in the media.

  • Fuck off Ken

  • Just PR of course, the brainwashed-since-birth Labour supporters watch a lot of Corry.

Not that I'm against it or don't support the Conservatives.

  • Well Done Ken - It had to be said.

    Thank you

  • This is not a death tax and maybe William should reads the proposals properly before spreading lies about how social care can be funded. Like Ken, Williams fails to see the reality of social care.

  • Isn't it? In what way is this not a Death Tax?

  • Nice piano background music. Brought a tear to my japs eye.

  • Nice video. Change is coming!

  • David Tennant?

You mean the man pretending to be Dr Who?

  • Yes, the man who also has performed in acclaimed Shakespeare productions, acclaimed dramas and films and not stuck to the same role in a dull soap.

  • attacking the elderly-lowest of the low for labour!!

  • attacking the poor with tax cuts for the rich, lowest of the low for the Tories. and dont argue the point because theyve never denied it because they cant.

  • Good video. Big fan of William Roache
