  • Love this video, anywhere i can get the notes for the second part? struggling to get them.

  • This is class im gonna show it to my music teacher! :)

  • The boys are amazing! ^_^

  • Inis Mona anybody?

  • I play this song for my school orchestra and we are so much worse than you.

  • @helloworld0111 Its all a matter of practice. 1000hrs to become skillful on an instrument, these two just got there whilst still young. They played it on stage on Sat as part of the band Tri and it still sounds good. Cheers

  • Excellent! Friends of mine play this song too, and your video here came up on the side when I was watching theirs. Glad to have found it.

  • @LiLiJughead It's a really common tune, but great to play. THanks for the comment

  • I love this video so badly, it makes my heart hurt a little bit. This tune is perpetually in my head and I don't wish that it wasn't :D Thank you!

  • @Ichbindertorsten Thanks for the comment. Hopefully fiddle music stays in peoles head for a long time to come.

  • If you enjoy this clip, you should be aware that 3 years on and these two are still making great music in a band called Trí. Clips are on my web site.

  • fiddle players are the outlaws when it comes to playing violin. We break every rule there is, we hold are bow the wrong way we hold the violin the wrong way and we break every boundary there is known to classical players.

  • @boxford110 To be fair Neal was given a start by the Warwickshire County Music Service (Classical music), he just much preferred fiddle tunes and was taught his tune playing by Coventry Comhaltas over several years. Since session playing is in first position (not up the dusty part of the neck) it does allow more individuality.

  • Neal, any chance you could put up the notes for the fiddle love to know how to play that song :D class stuff

  • @CiaraNiShiochain. It is just his version of Tam Lin (Glasgow Reel). Notation is available online.

  • You guys are kicking it! Good Job lads! Love that tune!

  • @trinitypoolservice. Many thanks

  • How old are you guys?!

  • @Musicman1582 When this video was uploaded, I (the bodhran player) was 12 and Neal was 13. Now I'm 15 and Neal is 17

  • @ciaranalgar Wow! I'm older than you were then, and can't play half as well!

  • 1 repper didnt like it

  • @6958921 Entitled to their opinion. I dont like some music, I have to admit I dont record dislikes though, cant see the point.

  • @GUKLASMYD (sighs) you see the 1 dislike? ok good then that means that one stupid raper didn't like this music, because rapers don't like this kind of music they re just listen to shitti music unlike this, got it?

  • @6958921 How could you not like it?I mean if you don't like orchestra or irish i understand but i actually play and these guys are extroardinary

  • @helloworld0111 where in the fuck i said i did not like them, i said i love this music, just re-read my comments.

  • Ow! This is awesome man! :D

  • I am not a fan of the bodhran, but that was really good playing there with it. If only more bodhran players could sound like that. Great fiddling too.

I've been playing the Fiddle for 4 years (:

  • Well done! I like the combination of the fiddle and bodhran together.

  • The Glasgow reel is scottish. Why does the title say Irish music? Besides that, fantastic job.

  • @Toxonic0 See the comments below. The tune is recorded as being written by Davey Arthur. Maybe he was in Glasgow at the time. The ornamentation and style of this version are Irish; it was recorded during the All Britain Fleadh.

  • @Toxonic0

The writer was born in Donegal. He lived in Scotland and came back to Ireland at 18 years of age. He played and sang with The Furies.

  • @Toxonic0 scottish music is a different style to this, this is ulster style music

  • @Toxonic0 It aint.

  • @Toxonic0 Perhaps they mean Irish dancing music.

  • @Toxonic0 because it uses irish instruments!

  • @Toxonic0 Is it Irish or Scottish?

  • @Lynnch1 Played Irish style and written by Davey Arthur.

  • @GUKLASMYD Nice wikipeding right there.

  • If you go the the Myspace site link on the channel "GUKLASMYD" it will take you to the Trí Myspace Site. If you get in touch via this a demo CD is available £4 plus p&p, it contains a group arrangement of Tam Lin.

  • Wat website can you get the music of this song on?please

    very well played!!

  • Sick. You sickies. And played at a nice easy tempo that's not draggy, but still allows real expression of the notes? Who told you guys you were old enough to have this kind of musical sense? I demand to see the manager!

  • Just to make your day! This was the first time they had met. They were just working out what tunes they both knew.

  • <<<This was the first time they had met<<<- you got to be kidding! They sure make a great team, tuned to each other as they are, it is not often that obvious! great talented young men!

  • Shocking and outrageous.

My kids absolutely LOVE watching these guys (and Niamh, too--in fact, we used to run the only Irish dance studio and performance company where we live). They've grown up on the tunes, since I play(ed) with two local trad bands and still go to a pub session when I can. Anyhow...I just can't get over how well these kids play, and their true feel for the music, not just the notes.

  • Fantastic guys. One of my favourite songs to dance to.

    Rhiannon, Ireland

  • man hes good.

  • WOW well done!

I dunno that it should be called Irish music when the name of the tune is the Glasgow reel. Last I checked Glasgow is in Scotland.

  • it was written by an irishman who worked over in glasgow.

  • Source?

  • learned how to play it on tin whistle when i was in 5th class. I remember my teacher telling it to us.

  • Hrm, well Tam Line was of course a story of the scottish borders by Rabbie Burns, but the tune to which it is played I have no info on... Anyone?

  • ya thats true. more info wud be gud though. Il get back to u.

  • haha all we had to do was read down a ways... Davey Arthur authored the Glasgow Reel and you are right he was from Dublin.

Go figure, and Irishman writing a reel, naming it after Glasgow and putting words of a Scottish Poet too it! Happy he did tho. Terrific tune!

  • No gaelic culture comes from three gaelic speaking nations, Mann, Ireland and Scotland.

Thats like saying polish is the true slavic nation while slovakia isnt. As you clearly dont speak the three tongues of Gaelic you'll be unaware that they are sister languages and not mutualy intelegable. Furthermore as Scotland became a unified nation in the 8th century and Ireland in the 10th century where did the political influences come to Ireland from itself a series of petty fighting kingdoms or Alba?

  • Gaelic was brought to Scotland by colonists from Ireland towards the end of the Roman Empire in Britain. By 500 A.D. these Gaels had established their Kingdom of Dàl Riada, centered on what is now Argyll in southwest Scotland; in Gaelic, Earra Ghàidheal, "the coastland of the Gael." To Roman writers they were Scotti -- Scotia at this time denoted Ireland -- although these names cannot be traced with certainty to an origin in Gaelic itself. But from these Latin forms came the name Scotland.
