  • Looks like an IceBreaker stuck at sea.

    Cool

  • some ons got some work to do

  • Couldn't you back up a little & get a run at it again? great video!

  • Couldn't you back up a little & get a run at it again?

  • CN is a class 1 railroad and speed limit is 10 mph and it should be up to 50 mph thats the same on CN Iowa line speed limit was up to 50 mph between Dubuque to Waterloo is now 40 mph and between Waterloo to Fort Dodge was also 50 mph but to bad track conditions its now 30 mph and between FD and Sioux City is also 30 mph and from FD to Omaha is 10 to 15 mph and a lot of fright crosses on that line per day BNSF also uses the line to get to ida Grove and BNSF also runs IEI coal train across Iowa

  • nobody brought shovels that day? LOL

  • glad we don't hit drifts like this on the Squamish Sub.

  • Unfortunately, it was a 10 mph part of track. Yes 25 or better and we probably would have been fine

  • Why cant you hit the snow at a faster speed to help you get thru?

  • @rexman. I don't mind the career. Like everything it has its inconvenient times. Hard to plan for after hours. In general I love the job though. Hope I helped

  • @ timberwolf. This train was stuck for about 26 hrs. I myself was on it maybe 4 hrs before I got off. Had to bring in an excavator with a monster blade.

  • How long were you stuck? Amazing video...All the best for 2011.

  • holy crap!

  • im sure i will get more videos next winter. who knows maybe a tornado this summer if im lucky

  • @harleydudenstl what is is like to work on the railraod u work for

i love traisn and i liek to her it fomr someone who has that expirance first hand

  • Great video Mate! Can't wait to see more!!

  • i know what thats like i grew up in that area when winter hits those drits get pretty nasty out there

  • First, let me say that's pretty good footage from the left seat. I'm assuming you were the engineer on that train. No surprise the snow stopped your train. What does surprise me is that the roadmaster for that subdivision didn't dispatch a rotary plow ahead of you. CN has meteorology dept., don't they? Anyway, this video is a one of a kind. Definitely five stars & fav'd.

  • WOW That's some deep snow. Are those GE engines?

  • Sure sounded like a GE.

  • Where was this video taken?

  • thiswas the Ida Grove sub in western Iowa by Walllake,Ia

  • You guys had not much speed up when you hit that drift....couldn't keep the momentum going...

  • speed restricted to 10 mph due to track conditions. yes more speed and we would have been ok
