Beautiful city, btw to those people who are talking about that it is illegal not to smile in here, do you know how ridiculous that sounds? Come on! Be SMART
Would you say it's worth moving to? I'm strongly considering moving to Pocatello but havent had the opinion of someone who has actually recently moved there.
@5pippin9 It all depends on what you're looking for. I've lived in larger metropolitan areas most my life, so I was looking forward to a smaller town with a slower pace of life. Pocatello certainly has that. On the other hand, that comes with fewer options in the way of stores and entertainment. It's a small, mostly blue-collar town, with the exception of the Idaho State University faction. I can't say if it's worth moving to without knowing what you're looking for. Personally, I like it so far.
@5pippin9 I just got back from pocatello on 2-9-12. I was out visiting my life long buddy who's been there almost 7 years. He works for a union with killer pay and benefits, he's working on getting me there. the scenery is absolutely beautiful. send me a message if you want.
@craighartonline is it really true that it is illegal not to smile there. If so, is it enforced or is it just one of those laws that are just in the books but never enforced.
If it is enforced, then why?
And if it is enforced, then funerals would probably not happen that much.
And if it is enforced, the cops there must not be all to bright.
@RubberToadstools Yes, we are the Smile Capital. No, it's not enforced. Most of the police department has better things to do than enforce a really stupid law. I was born and raised here. We are 1 hr away from Idaho Falls, 2 from Twin Falls, 45 min from Lava Hot Springs, and if your'e really missing a major metropolis, roughly 3 1/2 hrs from Boise, or 2 1/2 -3 hours from SLC, UT. You can camp, hike, fish, rock climb, yard sale, or let your kids play @ one of the many parks.
@thistlie83204 Lets say a cop, who is having a really pissed off mood, decided to arrest someone for not smiling, what would happen? Would that person have to pay a fine or will that cop be the one in trouble? I know it is a stupid law, but you have people within the law that say "well the law is the law", basically people too brainwashed to have a thought of their own.
