love the band however im not so fond of Georgy. ive tried and tried to watch his show thinking maybe i will start to get into his interviewing style but i cant lol. Not sure what it is about his style but it aint workin for me. Sorry George.
Most children my age in the U.S. listen to crap like Justin Bieber but you know what? That's their preference, and I have mine.
Does it honestly matter where you're from? Whether you're from the U.K. or from the U.S., KOL should (and will) always do shows everywhere, because there will always be people who will go to their concerts. So everybody, just chill, and enjoy their music.
@GraceandCrystal GREAT, Im in that same position too! All of my friends listen to CRAPPY(I have to say it) chart music and im like how the hell do you do that! But sure 'Whatever'! Im only 14 =] Im from Ireland (:
@GraceandCrystal KOL are now made of the same commercial chart climbing fabric as Justin Bieber. They used to have an original sound, now they sound like every other fucking alt rock band. I'll CHILL WHEN THEY REVERT BACK TO MAKING GOOD ALBUMS AND STOP SUCKING CORPORATE COCK.
@breachmania Here's where you don't grasp the complexity and utter correctness of my argument. Let's take a look at a band who I used to love, and still do. Arcade Fire - originally hardly known around the same time KoL came out, became popular in the indie rock community like KoL, and by the time their album came out this year, they are selling out stadiums internationally. The difference between them the two bands is that Arcade Fire has maintained the quality of their work as their
Who's to say they still don't "maintain" the quality of their own work?
That's your opinion and you are entitled to it of coarse but that doesn't make you correct. And your argument is far from complex I can assure you! Like I've said, I've seen the same argument, the same old story everytime I look at a KOL video but the fact still remains...they're fantastic musicians and still touch the hearts of many around the world regardless of your argument.
@breachmania Who's to say? It's not just me, my son, it's professional critics as well. Their last two albums have been substantially unfavorably received in comparison to their first three. Surely they also know nothing about music and are victims of the delusion KoL contend their old fans of having? Believe me, I'm jealous that you still enjoy their music, I wish to God I did, so you're little accusations won't work on me. I'm still a proud fan of those albums, just not the band.
Those "professional criticts" you speak of know nothing about music trust me.
The reason why the last two albums havent been favorably recieved is because the moral majority, unfortunatly, are only able to bob their heads around to rock, thump and trashy music. They have no feeling or emotion towards deep and meaningful music and that's why ACDC are so big!
@breachmania So fantastic lyrics from Milk like "She saw my combover/her hour glass body/she has problem with drinking milk and being school tardy" are juvenile in comparison to shit like Only by the night's: "What a night for a dance, you know I'm a dancing machine?" Please. Professional critics do nothing but listen to music, and have an exhaustive sense of musical history that you and I would have to put in years to reach, not to mention many of them have multiple journalism degrees.
@DanimalLawlz Okay but you basically chose the most simple line off of only by the night. What about "Jesus don't love me, no one ever carried my load. I'm too young to feel this old"? or "And I told myself boy away you go, rained so hard it felt like snow, everything came tumbling down on me. In the black of the woods, the dark of the night, paleness of the old moonlight, everything just felt so incomplete. Dreamin' of revelry." Caleb's lyrics are always filled with passion.
@breachmania popularity has grown. I don't blame KoL for wanting to be more commercially appealing, but they can't expect to alter their sound completely and expect their original fan base not to complain. Did people complain when the Beatles changed their sound? No, because they improved upon it. KoL, in my humble and arrogant opinion, has lost that lovely unique garage sound in favor of polished chart songs that are easily converted into dance remixes played at gay clubs. So fuck off.
@emozinhohard Sorry,I meant the one at the opening titles,I know it's not kol but I liked it very much.I suspect it might be just the show theme song but if anyone knows it would be great!thanks in advance!

God bless you guys. I hope you keep your Faith wherever life takes you. As you know, you are never too far away from God for Him to love you. Your music is awesome and can inspire many. Take care.
@treylemoine well seeing as I've seen them live 3 times - once after Aha Shake Heartbreak, another after Because of the Night, and most recently (last summer) for Only By the Night, I would say I do know what I'm talking about when it comes to their music. I don't deny that they've changed, but just because they're not making the exact type of music they use to doesn't mean they 'sold out.' When I saw them the 3rd time they were just as raw and heartfelt as they were the 1st time I saw them.
KOL is aweomse!!!! I'm a huge music buff of all music but KOL is my favorite band hands down! This is coming from someone with over 80,000 songs on their iPod. Saw them in concert last night. I was second row. NEVER paid to be up front before and it was worth every penny!!
And Only by the Night is their best album. I like all four but I've liked every album better than the last. People need to embrace evolution. They didn't get popular in the states until their last two albums.
i listened to their first album and i was like Jesus these guys are the shit. I was thinkin this is the best debut album in a long time. Like trani man wat a fuckin song thts one of my favourite songs still. And their second album was really good personally i liked their first album better but their second album was still brilliant and i loved it. then i heard their third album and i noticed tht it wasnt really the sme it had some decent tunes still tho but wen i heard sex on fire WTF WAT THE FK
Dude..I get so angry with all the so called fans crapping on OBTN. Was YAYM great? Yes. Was ASH great? Yes. Was BOTT great? Yes and so is OBTN. Bands have to evolve and change. A prime example is The Beatles. Imagine if they hadn't evolved. Caleb's voice gets stronger and stronger with each album. If you don't like it, don't listen to it, but shut up about it. Stop calling them sellouts just because more people have finally discovered the brilliance that is Kings of Leon.
It's kinda hard for them not to sell out cause they have a huge fan base now. It's like they have to write songs for the FANS to like, not write the songs for THEMSELVES and have the fans like them.
Well actually they were huge in Tennessee, of course; its just the rest of the country. Lol. My gf is from there, and me being from Hawaii never knew who they were. Soo yeah my gf introduced me to them when they first released "Aha shake.." and like honestly every age loves these guys. Her dad is an avid fan, i'm a huge fan (21) All in all, these guys are awesome!! :D
ya totally sellouts i mean their music now is fuckin awesome too but ya i love when bands i like never change thier sound or how they look. thats pretty cool. (sarcasm) god shut up kol rocks and always will
they sold out. after the 3rd album there music began to change turn more pop instead of what it used to be. the first 2 albums were brilliant. now there pop stars they forgot about their old fans and just went for the money fuck em. muse are begining to head down that road aswell.
@Mminiscorch God. They didnt "sold out" at some point, they were gonna have to become popular. And they werent gonna make the same old songs in every single album! they have to change, and it's not a bad thing. Their old songs are not bad at all, and so are their new songs, theyre not bad.
@iLouKoL there style has changed altogether, there just concentrating on money now every kings of leon fan knows that. there not what they used to be they didnt need to change there style. and its "sell out "btw
@Mminiscorch kay.. sell out* sorry lol. yeah youre probably right but ive listened to many interviews where they explain they needed to change, and all that stuff, but i dont really know. whatever it is, i still love kings of leon and i dont really care if people say they sell out cause to me theyve changed for good.
@iLouKoL dont get me wrong there not a bad band it was just a little disapointing and even though they said they needed to change they were only changing 4 themselves.
This is my favourite interview with KOL. I'm really surprised that they got the the two shy ones to do an interview in front of a live audience. I thought for sure either Nathan or Jared would have been picked for it since they are so out going.
Poor Matt, everyone keeps bringing up the story about the brothers background with their father and all, but no one asks Matt about his childhood :( I want to know more about Matt!
And what's up with the beginning? "And those boys would be Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill...... ... And they hooked up with their first cousin Matthew...." Come on, Matt is the best one out ot these four! And Caleb is second, I think. Or maybe Jared. Tough one.
these dudes are getting older = music is getting i would say more 'mature', not bloody boring and mainstream, or 'selling out'. either way, people are gonna judge and compare their music which i think wont help the situation or declassify them. i think they've played a MASSIVE role in rock over the last 10 years, and their music and talent is EXTRAORDINARY, perdiod. shut up, you bloody haters. you either like the Kings of Leon or you don't. it's not 'then they wree this, now they're this.'
I'm sorry but at the end of the day the quality of their music diminished. FULL STOP. Surprise surprise the same time they tried to win over an American audience. I used to love those guys and I don't beleive theyv'e sold out, theyv'e just changed their style for the worse.
i really appreciate the fact that i discovered this amazing band on my own. just rummaging through a bin at a record store. It was love at first listen. LOVE.
yeah, i agree, this schoew rocks, but i was kinda let down by the most of the q's... and a's i guess. i dunno, sorta seems like as soon as the started to get down right below the edge of the surface, it was brought back up again to move to the next thing, skimming and just chipping at the surface instead of getting deeper. like fresh air on npr... or like this show on other occasions. then again, for only 12 mins, im sure ol strombo wanted to cover as much as he could... still, good.
Like they just blow me away, they are the best and they conisder themselves british :D.Jonas Brothers are nothing compared to these real siblings, they'll kick the asses of Jonas Brothers anytime, and America should scrap JB and pay more attention to KOL!!!!
Caleb is a genius.. he knows just how to use his voice to bring all those cute little scratchy sounds after he sings a word.. it's so infectious I'm a stupid newcomer.. slept through their early years.. nonetheless I'm on-board now hope that's okay? Wake up now, grab the ipod and listen to sex on fire.. I think I'm dreaming about this band now night after night.. what is going on here? Something spiritual, something spooky.. who knows I love it.. KOL you guys saved music.. Thanks for doing that!
Thank you for discovering the guys...they are the best, and im sure you are gonna love their old stuff :) And I totally agree with what you said about Caleb's voice..its amazing and wow im speechless already.
PROUD to be a so called Sex on Fire fan, fuck that, Im forever thankful that I discovered them through that song. I listened to their entire discography within a week and love each album now. I wish I had discovered them before.
PS:Caleb is freaking HOT (to stick to the SOF fan image lol)
Geogre Stroumboulopoulos is the future of journalism. I love how he asks questions that make you get to know the interviewee, instead of just "Who're you dating?". He does his research, he connects to the interviewer. Entertainment Tonight makes me cry. The Hour is the best one of my day.
Exactly. They've been popular in Europe for years, and they're super cool. But as soon as they're known in America they're sell outs. What's the difference?
You're missing the point... it's not because they're popular that people say they're not good anymore.
point is that they've changed their sound in order to become popular. 'youth & young manhood' was incredible, but could never be a commercial hit. even if they re-released it now. so in many people's eyes, including mine, their new style is simply not as good as their old style.
they're still good, but their new music isn't (in the opinion of some)
im in canada and not many people listen to them. Im a huge fan of them but my friends dont like them for some reason? no matter what ill still be a fan
You know what - if the US doesn't want to get behind this band (and by that I mean more than just listening to Sex on Fire) then fuck it - the UK will ALWAYS have you KoL!! 10 years from now maybe the US will look back and wonder what the hell they were thinking when they were playing Miley Cyrus & Jonas Brothers instead of you guys.
Rockin' set these boys put in at TITP this year - can't wait for a new album, more gigs and more festivals. 'MON THE KINGS!!!
i live in america. i've been a HUGE fan of these guys since 2004 and youth and young manhood. and i hate that KoL didnt get the attention they deserve until JUST NOW. that it took some pretty, radio-friendly singles to get them popular. I wanna shake some of these "Sex on Fire" fans and be like "YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING."
i totally f**king agree!! It angers me when KoL says that people in America don't really care for them and that we have bad taste in music. I love every f**king song of theres since the beginning of their time. Its embarrassing that I'm always the only one out of the people I know that actually knows what they have to offer!!
Oh shit. Never knew my favorite interviewer interviewed my favorite band :D

@DanimalLawlz Let me give you some advice MY SON!

The change their sound to bring in either those who have heard vaguely of them of people who havent at all.
Old fans either go with it and get over it or complain about it.

What, you expect them to write the same Garage Rock/ Juvenial stuff for four albums straight?

Aaaalways keep coming back to watch this...an intelligent interviewer for a change... bless you chaps x
weewatto 2 years ago 9
yeah, i agree, this schoew rocks, but i was kinda let down by the most of the q's... and a's i guess. i dunno, sorta seems like as soon as the started to get down right below the edge of the surface, it was brought back up again to move to the next thing, skimming and just chipping at the surface instead of getting deeper. like fresh air on npr... or like this show on other occasions. then again, for only 12 mins, im sure ol strombo wanted to cover as much as he could... still, good.

Like they just blow me away, they are the best and they conisder themselves british :D.Jonas Brothers are nothing compared to these real siblings, they'll kick the asses of Jonas Brothers anytime, and America should scrap JB and pay more attention to KOL!!!!
=3
rockinroundyourtown 2 years ago 13
I sooo agree with that! and now the concerts will be filled with teens wanting to see JB instead of appreciating the real talent.

Thanks for doing that!
utubin67 2 years ago 14
yeah its ok ofcourse XD
Thank you for discovering the guys...they are the best, and im sure you are gonna love their old stuff :) And I totally agree with what you said about Caleb's voice..its amazing and wow im speechless already.

Love these guys for years, first album Y&YM amazing. America would not realize their talent if it bit them in the ass. QOTSA are another of my faves!

The Hour is the best one of my day.

mate my favourite ever song
and tbh all the fans that say they have sold out and all that shit arent real fans they are still a great unique band
prinzpoldifan 2 years ago 8
seriously, I hate it when people say they "sold out", just because they're popular it doesn't mean they aren't good anymore.
DawnOfARevolution 2 years ago 66
yeah mate thats excactly how i feel
prinzpoldifan 2 years ago
Exactly. They've been popular in Europe for years, and they're super cool. But as soon as they're known in America they're sell outs. What's the difference?
eh442 2 years ago 5
exactly! it's because they're good they're popular.. they gets better all the time! awesome band.
tummen 2 years ago 4
@DawnOfARevolution

Im a huge fan of them but my friends dont like them for some reason? no matter what ill still be a fan
revolver188 2 years ago
You know what - if the US doesn't want to get behind this band (and by that I mean more than just listening to Sex on Fire) then fuck it - the UK will ALWAYS have you KoL!! 10 years from now maybe the US will look back and wonder what the hell they were thinking when they were playing Miley Cyrus & Jonas Brothers instead of you guys.
Rockin' set these boys put in at TITP this year - can't wait for a new album, more gigs and more festivals. 'MON THE KINGS!!!
brokenbeats0159 2 years ago 3
i live in america. i've been a HUGE fan of these guys since 2004 and youth and young manhood. and i hate that KoL didnt get the attention they deserve until JUST NOW. that it took some pretty, radio-friendly singles to get them popular. I wanna shake some of these "Sex on Fire" fans and be like "YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING."
0arpeggi0 2 years ago 7
i totally f**king agree!! It angers me when KoL says that people in America don't really care for them and that we have bad taste in music. I love every f**king song of theres since the beginning of their time. Its embarrassing that I'm always the only one out of the people I know that actually knows what they have to offer!!

it's so nice of caleb that he lets matthew speak. jared would never do that.
