0:49... law review=suicide... I've graduated law school, sent my resume ALL ACROSS the U.S., and haven't gotten a reply for 4 months... these people must be either blatently retarded or sheeple up the ass! Honestly people... unless I find SOME Law-related work oppertunity soon, I would like to declare my law degree as usefull as a cock-flavoured lollipop!
These people seem pretty reasonable and nice, especially the big lady. They don't, however, seem especially bright. I always thought lawyers were supposed to be brilliant? These people certainly aren't!
The economy holds no hope/promise for anyone, esp. when you have thousands of people coming out of law with the same degree, bucking for the same positions as you.You could not offer me million's to deal with something like that.Who wants that type of stress??
I will take my small home, small garden, and lovely country sky anyday over the law life.
@OneSmartKitty i am considering law school as you did. I am just like you, i want a simple comfortable life, being stress free. But if i were to do contracts, isn't that quite stress free or am i missing something? i am considering between pharmacist or lawyer.
@SoDrigh Go to pharmacist school, law school sucks. There's not a lot of jobs out there and the market is totally saturated. Besides the work load can be overwhelming and outright boring.
All of my friends who went to pharmacy school liked it and love their jobs. I'd say half of the lawyers I know like it and all of them hated law school
@SoDrigh I'm a 1L at a top 20 ranked Law School. PM if you want to know more. But here's the truth...I'm dropping out after my first semester. I find Law School, the Legal Profession, and the people around me in class (professors+students) to be the absolute worst experiences of my 22 years on earth. I cannot fathom dealing with these people any more just to pay off large amounts of debt IF I'M LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A JOB. Fuck that, I'm happy being simple.
@365to173repubsPWNED You are so right and I'm happy for you. I have ZERO doubt that you made the right choice. Im 40, worked in one of the giant megafirms (trade law) and hate every minute of it. I quit. Honestly i cant even work right now I took a year off. Ive gone from 80 hour weeks to almost developing a phobia for working. Being a lawyer SUCKS
@365to173repubsPWNED - When I see a group of lawyers at court, I get sick to my stomach. I can't stand them. My friends who are lawyers were friends before they became lawyers. I don't have any friends who are lawyers that I met as lawyers.
@SoDrigh I'm an international trade lawyer. Contracts is a very vague description but the ones I know doing contracts work as hard as anyone. Think 80 hour weeks on a routine basis. IMO law SUCKS and I would never do it again. I've actually looked into which legal field has less stress. One area is wills and estates - why? It's the only field where you don't have constant urgent deadlines. Pple don't call and say "I'm going to die in 24 hours and need a will by 6am". BUT it's borrrrring
@BlackLabelSlushie Funny thing is before entering Law School I worked for a Wills and Trust lawyer. I wanted to get a feel for the profession. That man was coming out of his THIRD divorce. While I can't be sure it was related to his work, I can say that he had a certain personality that was joyless and dry, while sucking the joy out of life for everyone working with him.
@365to173repubsPWNED "he had a certain personality that was joyless and dry, while sucking the joy out of life for everyone working with him" lol Welcome to the world of lawyers. Seriously, do what you want but I would honestly feel a sense of accomplishment if I could convince one uncertain person to not get into law. I'm not a negative person at all. But seriously if you already sensed the dry-joyless affect of lawyers I say go with your instincts.
@365to173repubsPWNED I once made it a mission to hunt out someone in trade law who I thought was happy - I wanted ONE fucking example and even, oddly, arranged a dinner for trade lawyers from all the main firms to scope out who is happy. Answer - literally not one. I'm not kidding. I left - not law but the firm - and did weird legal advising to Carrebean and Asian governments. Was better and more fun. Still, given the chance, I'd NEVER enter this shit profession again
@BlackLabelSlushie And this is coming from someone who entered the market when there were still careers to be had. Now one is considered "lucky" if they get to be a slave for the next 10 years in some LSD-induced fantasy of making partner. I won't throw away another second of my life to that, and am happy to hear from people like you that I won't regret it. Best of luck to you. I know you'll be happy.
@365to173repubsPWNED - Sounds like a typical lawyer. The misery of the profession transcends and overtakes everything around you. You really have to be a true believer to get past it and have any joy in the profession. I am not a true believer. The system is a sham and justice is an illusion. It's all about who puts on a better show.
@Notoriousdsb Hey man I have nothing against law students or lawyers in general, simply because I have only met a select few and only interacted with them for 1 semester. And maybe it was the fact that it was a semi-competative school in the 15-20 range as far as rankings, or the fact that they were already insecure about not going to a T-14, but they were the biggest douches and asses I've ever met. Already, before becoming lawyers, they were on their way to being scum.
@365to173repubsPWNED - Actually, it's the same as in life. There are those who are just assholes no matter what profession they are in, but it seems like the ones who aspire to be lawyers contain more of those types of people... and then there are those who are converted to assholes via the law indoctrination process.
@BlackLabelSlushie - Wills and Trusts might not have deadlines but you will have huge professional liabilities from clients and everyone else who will sue you when they don't get what they want. It's one of the most active areas for professional malpractice suits.
@365to173repubsPWNED - My friend who dropped out after 1 year now owns his own factory and married a rich girl and is happier than any of us who stuck it out.
I watch this video,and i thank god i live in the country,living a simple home grown life.I got my vegetable patch,my wine,good food,freinds,peace,and quiet.
I did,at one time, contemplate going to law school, but then i weighed my pro's and cons. The cons won.The massive stress, and long hours are no good for someone like me.I like a simple, easy life.
Also, don't forgot, the h*ll soo many student's are suffering through now trying to figure how they are gonna pay back those huge loans.
I'm an aspirant attorney, love to argue my point of view and convince my opponent until he or she and they confess or subdue to a compelling theory of what i propose the possibilities might be- I wonder though, if I got what it takes to get a good score on the LSAT .....or whether I innately poses the quality or the caliber of what makes a very good Attorney....some words of encouragement please, thanks Chector29@yahoo.com
Enjoy !
