@ThtOnePinoy Bathala is only the sovereign God of the Tagalogs... so that doesnt count the whole Philippines.... there are a lot more different deities in the philippine mythology
it's funny how the big agressor is said to be spain as what is being taught by historians all over the world. while in fact we never hear about the asian colonists such as the javans, chinese and how about the certain clans fighting each other before the arrival of the spaniards.
@hetismij21 the javans and the chinese and the malays are our ancestors.. they are the reasons we came into being as modern day filipinos, spanish are not.. that may be the reason why spain is viewed as the bad guys.--because they were racist.
@yt532em a lot of cultures in asia were influenced by india, however spanish culture was practically shoved down our throats, besides our dances have our own touches to them as well.
Xtianity was use as oppression/slavery tool by old spain, erase culture in philipine, mexico etc. Islam gave idea to resist/preserve culture/land, which would you choose? have you heard of Sultanate of Manila. they were massacred by old spain, they are one who resist bastardazation of the country. thres no race as Filipino, you are malays, you are descendants of Sultans. old spain put hatred w/ muslims so u fight their war in mindanao, wat did u get? poverty. study ISLAM n go back to culture
I agree with going back to the filipino culture before spain came to colonize it, it was so rich and beautiful, but we shouldn't be too extreme, since we've been introduced to two religions, let people decide which religion they choose to follow. Religion and culture are two different things. But i love Philippines as much as you.
@marshmallu As you already have said, religion and culture are two different things, regardless going back to pre-spanish filipino culture will be better for all of us in the end, and theres nothing wrong with still staying catholic while you're at it, hell we have our own term for diyos, it's Bathala, where do you think the saying "bahala na!" came from? :P
well i believe its their own interpretation.. kaya nga "theatre"... in dancing, there is no limitation... they did not do a traditional dance.. but an interpretation.. and there's a big difference..
I should quote "magsyaw ang muslim" I just don.t know kung ang mga muslim may ganyang sayaw...
mataas ang entertainment value ng sayaw nato. bilang isang manayaw ng ramon obusan at alun alun ni amilbangsa ang tawag ko sa sayaw na yan ay EKLAT EKLAT...wala akong sinasabing masama huh!
u know wat.... we got the concept of the dance from kuya ramon.. and before we choreograph it our group and juyta ramon talked about it... hey!!! are u new at ROFG... coz ROFG dancers are our brothers.... and we are a diff company with a diff technique with ROFg ok?
d b? kat nagalit sakin yung kasama nilang bading kc tinawag kung eklat eklat... totoo naman. sabi ko maganda pero eklat eklat.kung buhay lang si rofg malamang ganun din sabihin nya
I can just laugh at all the comments....i stand neutral hahhahaha.....if the Ha Patong dancers could flex more muscles or gain some abs, biceps and triceps and dance like a man...it may not look like an "eklat-eklat" performance.....mahirap ding mag-isip ng choreo ha....peace!!!
AFP785 and I share the same feeling! I'm proud of this video. It tells who we are. Asians! But Hipanized and Arabinized and somehow apart from all sorts of South East Asians. Not completely Asian but not European, a Filipino!
As a Visayan, hailing from the regions of Surigao in Mindanao and Bohol and Leyte of the Visayan Islands, this dance is very illustrative of my region and culture. The blood of the Visayan, the Warai flows strong in this dance. MAAY JUD!
Good balancing act! But please don't mistake this for Philippine dance reflecting Philippine culture. We're not a culture of circus clowns. Harlequin costumes?
Why, is this the first time you've seen a "creative" type of dancing?!? I'm sorry, but is it possible for you to site details of your expertise? Because i suppose your life is so boring to not be able to recreate any particular dance...to which in this case this dance company had made justice with! I'm sorry but as far as i know, they have claimed to be a creative dance company. I hope you know waht that means!
In creation (or re-creation, as the case may be) there is responsibility. You create from a source, and this source projects cultural nuances even in interpretation. When you stylize, you build from an original. Looks like the creator of these "creative" types of dancing took off from mid-air. Creation minus the context is, well, a lot of hot air.
what u are sayiung vinedwards is like what ur acct name is vined head.... do u think it make sense when usay recreatio0n is really from the original...Took off from mid air?THATS A YES.. BECAUSE THATS HOW THE CREATOR'S MIND WORK...AND FYI... ITS A LOT OF VERY HOT AIR.....I VERY PRECISE THAT U R BLIND COZ U DONT SEE THE CONTEXT... THERE'S NOTHING I CAN SAY TO U BUT JUST STRAY IN UR CLOSET... AND BE A DUMB.... OK?... THANKS A LOT UR COMMENT MADE THE CREATOR STRONGER...
Where's the circus clown, where's the harlequin costumes? Oops, sorry VINEDWARDS, I didn't see you there. Whats witht he clown and harlequin stuff? That would imply laughter or to invoke laughter. I have never heard anyone laugh at this dance. Once there was someone laughing but he was forgiven. He was one of the patients of Tito Al if you know what I mean.

This doesn't look a filipino dance at all. It's super modernized... Yung original nito would be "Pangalay Ha-Patong" a tausug dance.
