  • 20 minutes a day in silence works well for me. i think doing it for hours and stuff is way OTT.

  • I used 3d mind.. I said it was great :-)

    Meditation *is* for removing states permanently... anger, despair, etc..

    So then bad experiences come and your positive state remains secure. Obviously that;s a gradual process.. you're not gonna get the full Buddhist annihilation right away.

    I think worrying about being attached to nirvana is not really a problem right now.

  • yeah! MISTAKES ARE IMPORTANT! stupid parents CAN'T say this to their kids can they? the most worst effect of trying to deal with a kid's mistakes is that the kid becomes closed minded for the world and open minded for his/her own problems, as the parent, if he/she doesn't find out this for him/her-self.

  • Meditation is the only way to get rid of states permanently. Your 3d-mind stuff is great, but it is a moving of states, not removal. If you get bored easily your mind is not in control.

    I suggest you give 3dmind a try... Here's the thing, you dont wanna get rid of states...As far as I am concerned thats not what meditation is for. That would be being attached to having no problem states. The idea is to experience them in balance so that you are ok with experiencing them.

  • Tom, you make a valid point that meditation shouldn't be used to hide emotions. I think if you are teaching meditation you have to pre-frame and set a context which is congruent with all the other stuff we know about personal development. Of course this also requires an instructor who actually knows what they are talking about.
