Excuse me, Do you know what version of PMD Editor your using? at 1:04 where those X,Y,Z box is, I don't have those 2 bottons at the top. You know, the 2 Buttons where one is blue and the other is gray? I don't have that. how would you add bones to a model without those buttons?
@SuperKateylynn This is probably 4.5, its severly outdated, I don't use it anymore. and I don't suggest using it xD. There's a much easier way to add bones now.
@SuperKateylynn uhh, I don't think I can explain it thrua comment xD. But i did make a picture tutorial for it that I posted to my Deviant art. I'd link it if I could, but you can find my DA page from my profile.
I took Haku Yowane's model and removes the hair bones and a few other things. I also removed the joints (the yellow cubes).
I took a model from Blender, exported an X and iported to PMDEditor. I have been working for days and managed to rig the legs, with working IK, and the lower and upper body almost perfectly. However, when I rig the shoulder joint and arms it works fine, then I rig the fingers and ir unrigs half the arm. So I re-rig the arm and it unrigs the fingers. Help? PMDEditor 0317b
Excuse me, what if you wanted to change the size of a hand? Because I changed the size, I now have to change the bone size to go with it. But whenever I try, the bones make the model's hand look crippled. How do I fix this?
@Vocalkokoro I'm still inexperienced, but I think you parented the bones to the mesh. If i'm not mistaken, you should have edited the mesh before you rigged it. A simple way to fix this would be to import only the mesh into PMDEditor, then adjust a=whatever you want. You would have to make an entire new skeleton with this method though, Like I said, I am amateur and there may be another solution.
@FicticiousAnimation Oh thanks! I figured out a way to do it though. Hopefully this helps you.
First select V selection tab (On the Viewer window). This selects the mesh. Then select B on the same tab. This selects the bones. Now on the model, select the area you want to resize, and zoom in. VERY LIGHTLY pull in/out the blue square, and pay attention to the number of units you pull. Then pull in/out the green square to the same number of units. If both B and V are on, then it works perfectly!
@Vocalkokoro *Facepalm* I should have thought of grabbing the mesh and armature! XD! Thanks man! ^^ I'm actually used to Blender but i'm really new to this PMD so any help is greatly appreciated! ^o^
And hey, I'm an amateur too. When it comes to PMD Editor, normally I'm either looking up a thousand tutorials, or teaching myself how to work it. (And one occassion was private messaging about how to fix or mess with textures.) Anyway, I have several excuses for using PMD Editor, so let me know if you need something! :)
@Vocalkokoro Oh you're welcome man. ^^ I hope we can be great friends! hey btw, I found a new way to rig in MMD PMD by taking the skeleton from another model and using it on an empty model. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it will prevent IK bones from jerking around so spastically on a custom rig.
Can you make a tutorial on how to make a ponytail on miku's hair? And setting the bones to there an physics and stuff. Iam looking for a tutorial like that for a year now.
Plz reply.
Iam not pro in pmd editor probarly cuz iam 11 years old ;3
I was making a model, and the bones got messed up. I figured the easiest way to fix it was to just replace them. So I imported bones fro an animisa model. I can't figure out how to attach the bones to the model though.
Hey I didn't understand much of this tutorial D: but could you just answer a little question?. I got a model, and I want to make it chibi, I know how to make her little, but the bones stay like they're big. I want to make them small but at same position to go with the model, can you help me?
@CookieDemonCorp in the view window select them 12th tab from the left and check the 1st and 3rd boxes at the top. now edit the model and the bones wil move with the person
@TheNarutofan12345 theres a new way with the newer editors, you'd probably need to import one of the animasa's bone sets and attatch it to that. Ill eventually make a tutorial on it, but probably not any time soon.if the model is all one layer though, it probably will not be easy.
@3340Karen That's what I have been dreading i can't download the newer versions because i have windows Vista on a netbook and it gets messed up and all that D:
@TheNarutofan12345 If you're using English PMD Editor then click Ïmport"in the main PMD window (Not PMD View) and select your model and it will ask you want to import and you click "bone"and OK. I would use Miku or a pre-made set o bones for that. For Japanese PMD 0317b import a open a model with bones, and you have to open up the window by pressing the third button along the top menu in View. Then click the fourth checkbox from the top and the Japanese text next to that. The mesh is invisible.
I've imported a kirby model, added the parts to it that I wanted to add, and now want to add bones to them. It won't let me, though. I keep trying, but they're not appearing in the list. No error message or anything though.
i have a question. in the physics tab of the editor. there are three bubbles: orange, green, and yellow right? i look EVERYWHERE and i STILL cant find the answer to what each of those stood for. think you can help me there? i just want to know what each of those colors are for xx so that way i can use them more effectively
what if it wont let you add bones? ive tryed a million different times on some fox ears i found and it wont let me add bones to it or does it have to already be attached to a model to try and add bones to it?
I was making a Rin Kagamine edit, and I turned her shirt into a dress. The dress doesn't have physical operations (my model's legs go right through it). Will bones fix it, or do I have to add physics?
@purplegelatinsquares uh..yeah.. her legs would go thru it considering the shirt is attached to the upper body bone. but I highly doubt anything you do will fix it seeing as you most likely just stretched her shirt down without thinking about aligning the polygons. but bones and physics are separate things whihc both need to be added. so you'd need both.
@3340Karen I did the same thing, I tried to make her shirt into a dress... I just got PMD editor (for the second time since my old computer crashed with it) and I'm trying to make a fanmade vocaloid based off Rin.... I was wondering if you could help me make her since you are so good with PMD editor or if you know of a user who will create models for people.
I can only get version 4.3, the VPVPwiki doesn't have a working link for 4.5, is there anywhere else I can get it, or is there a later version that would still work? I have 6.3, and so far haven't found any tutorials for it.
sorry when I messed you, it took me a few days to understand xD what exactly you where doing in this video. :P Now I understand, but I know a easier way of doing that then just going down the list and seeing them glow. Then again I'm using the new PMD editor and its A bit different from the older ones x3
I was wondering if you know how to delete something that has no bones, or physics, and I can't delete the part itself on the part list thingy since its connected to another part that would get deleted to if I wanted to delete the little thing itself! D= I can shrink it but then litle parts fly everywhere in mmd so how do I easily get rid of it completly???
that....has nothing to do with this tutorlalll. you separate the layers. I think I covered that in my voice tutorial. if not I'll explain in a comment.
@3340Karen The only thing I'm looking to do is to rename bones on my Japanese labelled ones (please excuse my stupidity for not knowing how to do that, I also know it can be done in MMD but I don't know how to do that either), how do I go about that?
@MsPenguinFan When you've got the bit you want to delete and the part it's attached to highlighted (so you've ticked the checkbox), then drag the cursor so only the bit you want gone is highlighted. Right-click its checkbox and click (S) for separate. Say yes. It'll now be on a separate layers, and you can delete it.
Sorry if someone already explained or I explained it badly.
i want to add a bone in the middle to move the whole model without anything staying attached in the middle when moved. You know like when you move the middle one that when you move it up, down, and so on with its feet still stuk the same way in the middle, well i need the one to get everything to move. Can you help??
you mean a mother bone? um...there's a button you can press to add it, I don't have access to PMD Editor at the moment to find it though, try checking the comments on this video or my screenshot tutorial, I know I've told several people how somewhere.
Miku's hair can get...LONGER D:? that's what this tutorial is for though, but Miku's hair are IK bones, you have to do other things to get them to work, unfortunetely, if forgot how D:
yes, find the bone you want, and type in the box which bone you want it connected to.the first box is the bone you want it connected to, second is what you want connected to it (third is for IK bones) so if the hand is bone 1, kama is bone 2 and the kama's end bone is 3(which they aren't this is just an example) for the hand you'd put '2' and leave the second box how it is, and for the kama it'd be
hmm....they should show up automatically, do you have the newest PMD Editor? if so...I don't know how to use it. so if possible try an older version.(I use version 4.45)
I figured, I haven't updated mine in...since version 4.45, and I hear the new one is like 6. something XD I've also heard it works diferently, especially when concerning the bones. I can't help if it's different then what I use.
Okay I've also go a question here. I'm editing Akita Neru. And I just made her skirt a new layer. But I want to add a move able bone where I can move the whole skirt. I followed your tutorial but apparently the new layer I made with Neru's skirt as a whole isn't in the bone list.
I'm not sure how to add a bone to a skirt like that, so I'm not sure I can help. plus I don't have access to PMD Editor at the moment D: if you mean the bone list in MMD, you have to add that through the....um...one of the tabs, then you ...ah, it's to hard, I forgot how the buttons are DX....but even if it's not shown on the list, you should be able to use it by double clicking the bone after pressing select (in MMD) if you meant you can't find the bone in PMD's list...I don't know.
I have a tutorial on how to keep physics when merging models, but I can't add them very well. the tutorial explains how to edit the physics in MMD though
My friendd wants to make his own model... but... he doesn't know how to make an mqo file into pmd. Do you know how? D: My dear friend. He needs HELP. He wants to make a Chii model from Chobits. X3 So know how? D:
you can't. you have to export as an .x file then import it into PMD, add bones (don't ask me how to add IK) physics, and facial expressions. you can only save things in PMD Editor as .pmd files. so as soon as you save it automatically converts. I've never made anything bigger than an accessory, so that's all I can help with D:.
@3340Karen Oh. Ok. Well I told him what you said. I hope he can understand it more than I do. XD My brain turned to mush by time my 13th birth-day came and passed. XD
does he have the DirectX end user web installer...thing, a decent computer graphics card(if he can use the newest MMD PMD then it 's fine) and also NetworkFrame...wait, or is it NetFrameworking?...er, I forgot lD...but it comes with Vista, so if he has Vista it doesn't matter. and he did installed DirectX right? it doesn't do any good otherwise (not installing seems to be a common problm XD)
Now there is a new type of bone called "グルーブボ, or Groove bone" and there is a plug-in for pmd editor that allows you to attach one to a model but I don't know how to.
hmmm....I just got a model and it has a groove bone...it doesn't do anything...you have to add the motion manually, it's nothing but a second center bone, somewhat convenient, but relatively useless..
so thats what it's called! i've been stumped when renaming the bones on a JP model and i get to that second center bone. well, the more you know. *rainbow banner*
I'm thinking that's a physics problem, did you delete hair bones or any bones with physics? if so that's definetely the problem. I made a tutorial on how to fix physics in PMD Editor (keep in mind I can only edit them I can't add physics very well) so you can look at it if you need help.
find which of the polygons are attached to her arm that souldn't be and re-attach them to where they belong. I recently found an easier way to do this. in the window that lists the layers, if you check the second box and have the second box checked in the menu that comes up when you double click the viewer, it shows the polygons that are attached to each bone. so fint the skirt and arm and see if anything looks wrong.
you don't even know how to move them? go somewhere else, your not ready to learn to add them. that's one of the basic things of PMD...its the same as moving parts of the model, in the edit box, just press the second button. it will go to bone mode. I still don't suggest trying to add them if you are that inexperienced with PMD Editor. it's hard even if you know what you're doing.
Dear Karen, i want to ask a queston: i made bones, can i only say one by one the points that they move which bone? Cant i say that the all selected point in one step?
in the main PMD window go to (E) (B) than (J) press 'okay' . it automatically creates a working motherbone. luckily someone just asked a few weeks ago so I still remember.
I'm making a broken robot of miku and I'm having trouble with wires I made with hair. The physical operation makes it go away from the hair and I want it to move with the arm but it moves with hair.
It's actually not that hard, I'm a beginner, and a quick learner. I got PMD Editor a few weeks ago and taught myself to delete bones, recolor, resize, move stuff, etc.
You don't install PMD. you only need to download it. but to get it to open you need DirectX end user...web installer....thing....um, there's a link to it somewhere in the description of this video, among other links. you also need NetFramwork. but if you have Vista it comes with it. is may or may not work after. some people just can't get it to work. I can't help if it's just your computer. I'd have to have the problem myself. You DO need to install those things though.
you'd have to do the same as in this tutorial, just attach the new hair to the old bones, though if it has IK....there's another step I can't remember...I wrote the step down somewhere but can't find it -_-'
I know you have probably been asked this alot but could you make a tutorial on how to import hair from another model (like Haku's hair to Miku)? I've looked around YT and I cant find a tutorial on it and alot of people seem to be having problems with models when they try to do this.
there's already a tutorial, here- /watch?v=jWix6I7lvC4 it's really easy actually, but unlike in this tutorial, I always delete the uneeded physics BEFORE joining models to aviod confusion. you can delete and add physics and joints in the last 2 tabs in PMD, to see them check the last 2 boxes in the window that comes up when you double click the viewer :3 I might add that you need the newest ver. of PMD for this to work right. otherwise the bones won't merge and you'll have a mess.does that help?
It says how many polygons (that's what the orange dots are called) there are in the model right above the list of them. if you go to the color tab you can also tell how many are attached to each colored part. it tells the number in the box next to where you'd put the texture files. is that what you wanted to know?
I think. Is this like, let's say the bone was a peice of Mako's hair, how can you tell that it is that specific part, because I am trying to make a bone that controls the whole model that isn't affected by Motion Data, so I can rotate the model itself with the md moving it back in place.
oh, you mean you want to add a motherbone? you do that a different way. I think motherbones are annoying because the camera follows them instead of the model so I never really figured it out, but I accidently added one once. I guess all I can say is start pressing random options in the veiwer. one of them adds a motherbone XD if I figure it out before you do I'll tell you.
Nonono. I actually know how to convert an already existing bone to a motherbone, but I'm talking about the parts that move with it. Ex: The arm moves with the arm bone. The thumb moves with the thumb bone. How do you set the parts in which that particular bone moves with?
wait, I'm confused. you mean how to see the polygons that are attached to each bone? you can't, I don't think. you can see them individualy(each polygon) by scrolling through the list of them. but I don't know another way :O...
No... THE ARM MOVES WITH THE ARM BONE. How do you make it to where, like, the Hair moves with the arm bone, not the arm bone? And how do you set that when you place a new bone? (Like, how you got that specific part of Mako's ribbon to move with the new bone.)
okay, I'm sorry for not understanding. why would you want the hair to move with the arm bone but not the arm? that's not in the first question you asked at all, you would do the same as for Mako's ribbon, swith the numbers for all the polygons of the bones you want switched, if one is an IK good luck, you have to do an extra step which I can't remember. you'd also need to switch the position of the bones. which means you're back where you started. I don't see the point...
I only used that as an example, I want to make a bone that moves the whole model, you don't have to select all of the bones to move it, just that bone and model will move how you see fit.
...a few comments ago you said you knew how to add one....why? you don't make an existing bone into one, there's an option that adds a working motherbone, all you have to do is find the right one and click it, it does everything else by itself. I also said I don't know where the option that does this is. that's why I said to press random options in the Veiwer, as I think that's where the option is. it won't hurt anything if you mess up the model as long as you don't save it.
oh, nevermind it's not in the viewer window, that does something else, in the main PMD window go to (E) (B) than (J) press 'okay' and there you go, you know have a working motherbone and all it took was the push of a button. though I wish you'd told me that's all you needed in the first place ...
why would you do that :O??? if you do the bone won't work. if you have the wrong bones linked together then change the number in the first and 3rd boxes to the number of the bone you want it to move with and the number of the end bone (or next bone) you want to attach to the bone you're working on...did that make sense? it's hard explaining these things without being able to show you...if it didn't help I can try pm-ing you a more detailed explanation (You Tube makes it hard with it's limit)
Nice vid, and question: Can I import a model from Blender that is more complex than a dinky little plane? Last time I tried importing a nicely textured, sculpted model, it gave me a Japanese error message and went no where.
I don't know. I can't even make a box in Blender so I've never tried exporting from it. it has to be an .x or .pmd file but other than that I can't help much. I know you can import .x files from Metasequoia, but I don't know about Blender :O...
Sorry to bother, but I couldn't find a bone tutorial for what I needed ;w; How do you change the size of bones? Like how you can change the size of model hair, how do you change the bone size as well?
The first one? It's a bit complicated, like if you add a bow or something to a models collar or upper body, you'd need to attach the bow's bone to the upper body or it will only move with the center bone, and not stay with the upper body if you move it, so type the upper body's bone number into the box the note is pointing to. (or the number of what you want the bone to move with) does that make sense?
Hey um do you know how to add bones to arms coz i accidentally deleted them and im trying to make a shirt and when i try putting a bone, it doesnt come.
Can u plz help?
Oh, and if you want to see it, I could give u a Download link to it if u want.
Arm bones are the same. I don't understand the rest of what you said. it doesn't 'come'? What is that supposed to mean? the tutorial explains everything, If you deleted them you should've undid that, it's going to take a long time to add them all back, if you deleted the finger bones. start over. it's not worth it.
Oh :O You confused me. if it appears on the list it's there, if not you pressed a wrong button (very easy to do, I messed up at least 3 times in this tutorial XD) always make sure to pay atention to what you do :O So you can undo your mistakes, PMD can undo many edits, so as long as you don't close it, you could probably undo everything. you could also consider joining models, take the arms of the original model, and put them on the one with no bones :O there's a tutorial on how to do that.
i got pmd editor and made a model and when i load motion data to her her clothes fly everywhere and are very stretchy how to i fix it

@TheNarutofan12345 theres a new way with the newer editors, you'd probably need to import one of the animasa's bone sets and attatch it to that. Ill eventually make a tutorial on it, but probably not any time soon.if the model is all one layer though, it probably will not be easy.

Wolfdragoness 1 year ago
actually i figured out my problem, with the pmd that im using with an older computer it wont let me add the bones but i can do everything else
capricova 1 year ago
what if it wont let you add bones? ive tryed a million different times on some fox ears i found and it wont let me add bones to it or does it have to already be attached to a model to try and add bones to it?
capricova 1 year ago
I was making a Rin Kagamine edit, and I turned her shirt into a dress. The dress doesn't have physical operations (my model's legs go right through it). Will bones fix it, or do I have to add physics?
purplegelatinsquares 1 year ago
@purplegelatinsquares uh..yeah.. her legs would go thru it considering the shirt is attached to the upper body bone. but I highly doubt anything you do will fix it seeing as you most likely just stretched her shirt down without thinking about aligning the polygons. but bones and physics are separate things whihc both need to be added. so you'd need both.

@3340Karen Thank you!
I'd guess I'm kind of a novice, since that's exactly what I did. xD

@3340Karen I did the same thing, I tried to make her shirt into a dress... I just got PMD editor (for the second time since my old computer crashed with it) and I'm trying to make a fanmade vocaloid based off Rin.... I can only get version 4.3, the VPVPwiki doesn't have a working link for 4.5, is there anywhere else I can get it, or is there a later version that would still work? I have 6.3, and so far haven't found any tutorials for it.

I was wondering if you know how to delete something that has no bones, or physics, and I can't delete the part itself on the part list thingy since its connected to another part that would get deleted to if I wanted to delete the little thing itself! @3340Karen The only thing I'm looking to do is to rename bones on my Japanese labelled ones (please excuse my stupidity for not knowing how to do that, I also know it can be done in MMD but I don't know how to do that either), how do I go about that?
MegaGuyX 10 months ago
@MsPenguinFan When you've got the bit you want to delete and the part it's attached to highlighted (so you've ticked the checkbox), then drag the cursor so only the bit you want gone is highlighted. Right-click its checkbox and click (S) for separate. Say yes. It'll now be on a separate layers, and you can delete it.
Sorry if someone already explained or I explained it badly.

hay is there a way to connect 2 allready made bones?
i neeed it to connect a kama to one of my models hands...
alyssah11 1 year ago
yes, find the bone you want, and type in the box which bone you want it connected to.the first box is the bone you want it connected to, second is what you want connected to it (third is for IK bones) so if the hand is bone 1, kama is bone 2 and the kama's end bone is 3(which they aren't this is just an example) for the hand you'd put '2' and leave the second box how it is, and for the kama it'd be
3 and 1. does that help?
3340Karen 1 year ago
@3340Karen it works but i want to get it ot move with the whole arm
alyssah11 1 year ago
it doesn't? it should as long as the arm isn't an IK bone. in which case i can't help you.

Haiyami 1 year ago
I'm not sure how to add a bone to a skirt like that, so I'm not sure I can help. plus I don't have access to PMD Editor at the moment D: if you mean the bone list in MMD, you have to add that through the....um...one of the tabs, then you ...ah, it's to hard, I forgot how the buttons are DX....but even if it's not shown on the list, you should be able to use it by double clicking the bone after pressing select (in MMD) if you meant you can't find the bone in PMD's list...I don't know.

APTXx4869 1 year ago
you can't. you have to export as an .x file then import it into PMD, add bones (don't ask me how to add IK) physics, and facial expressions. you can only save things in PMD Editor as .pmd files. so as soon as you save it automatically converts. I've never made anything bigger than an accessory, so that's all I can help with D:.
3340Karen 1 year ago
@3340Karen Oh. Ok. Well I told him what you said. I hope he can understand it more than I do. XD My brain turned to mush by time my 13th birth-day came and passed. XD

APTXx4869 1 year ago
does he have the DirectX end user web installer...thing, a decent computer graphics card(if he can use the newest MMD PMD then it 's fine) and also NetworkFrame...wait, or is it NetFrameworking?...er, I forgot lD...but it comes with Vista, so if he has Vista it doesn't matter. and he did installed DirectX right? it doesn't do any good otherwise (not installing seems to be a common problm XD)

Now there is a new type of bone called "グルーブボ, or Groove bone" and there is a plug-in for pmd editor that allows you to attach one to a model but I don't know how to.

SakineTeto05 1 year ago

I'm thinking that's a physics problem, did you delete hair bones or any bones with physics? if so that's definetely the problem. I made a tutorial on how to fix physics in PMD Editor (keep in mind I can only edit them I can't add physics very well) so you can look at it if you need help.
3340Karen 1 year ago
well i have a model where the skirt moves when her arms move how do i disconnect the skirt from the bones in her arm?
amaddie 1 year ago
find which of the polygons are attached to her arm that souldn't be and re-attach them to where they belong. I recently found an easier way to do this. in the window that lists the layers, if you check the second box and have the second box checked in the menu that comes up when you double click the viewer, it shows the polygons that are attached to each bone. so fint the skirt and arm and see if anything looks wrong.
3340Karen 1 year ago

How do u move bones?and how do you create the bones? mine aren't showing up!
pikachu749 1 year ago
you don't even know how to move them? go somewhere else, your not ready to learn to add them. that's one of the basic things of PMD...its the same as moving parts of the model, in the edit box, just press the second button. it will go to bone mode. I still don't suggest trying to add them if you are that inexperienced with PMD Editor. it's hard even if you know what you're doing.

NintenHedgehog 1 year ago
sorry, but... How do you install the pmd editor? I can't..
yamilucy 1 year ago
You don't install PMD. you only need to download it. but to get it to open you need DirectX end user...web installer....thing....um, there's a link to it somewhere in the description of this video, among other links. you also need NetFramwork. but if you have Vista it comes with it. is may or may not work after. some people just can't get it to work. I can't help if it's just your computer. I'd have to have the problem myself. You DO need to install those things though.
3340Karen 1 year ago
Sorry to ask x__X
but do you know how to move bones..?
Like..
I deleted hair off a model and put new hair on it.
But the ponytail doesn't have any bones, and the bones from the old ponytail are still there.
I was wondering how I can move the bones onto the new ponytail?
CreamiiTomato 2 years ago
you'd have to do the same as in this tutorial, just attach the new hair to the old bones, though if it has IK....there's another step I can't remember...I wrote the step down somewhere but can't find it -_-'
3340Karen 2 years ago
I know you have probably been asked this alot but could you make a tutorial on how to import hair from another model (like Haku's hair to Miku)? I've looked around YT and I cant find a tutorial on it and alot of people seem to be having problems with models when they try to do this.
And if you cant then thats alright XD
NodokaHikaru 2 years ago
there's already a tutorial, here- /watch?v=jWix6I7lvC4 it's really easy actually, but unlike in this tutorial, I always delete the uneeded physics BEFORE joining models to aviod confusion. you can delete and add physics and joints in the last 2 tabs in PMD, to see them check the last 2 boxes in the window that comes up when you double click the viewer :3 I might add that you need the newest ver. of PMD for this to work right. otherwise the bones won't merge and you'll have a mess.does that help?
3340Karen 2 years ago
When it comes to how many parts move with the bone, how do you know how many parts there are on the model itself, like, them all?
Rainfur2 2 years ago
It says how many polygons (that's what the orange dots are called) there are in the model right above the list of them. if you go to the color tab you can also tell how many are attached to each colored part. it tells the number in the box next to where you'd put the texture files. is that what you wanted to know?
3340Karen 2 years ago
I think. Is this like, let's say the bone was a peice of Mako's hair, how can you tell that it is that specific part, because I am trying to make a bone that controls the whole model that isn't affected by Motion Data, so I can rotate the model itself with the md moving it back in place.
Rainfur2 2 years ago
oh, you mean you want to add a motherbone? you do that a different way. I think motherbones are annoying because the camera follows them instead of the model so I never really figured it out, but I accidently added one once. I guess all I can say is start pressing random options in the veiwer. one of them adds a motherbone XD if I figure it out before you do I'll tell you.
3340Karen 2 years ago
Nonono. I actually know how to convert an already existing bone to a motherbone, but I'm talking about the parts that move with it. Ex: The arm moves with the arm bone. The thumb moves with the thumb bone. How do you set the parts in which that particular bone moves with?
[ Sorry for overload.. xD ]
Rainfur2 2 years ago
wait, I'm confused. you mean how to see the polygons that are attached to each bone? you can't, I don't think. you can see them individualy(each polygon) by scrolling through the list of them. but I don't know another way :O...
3340Karen 2 years ago
No... THE ARM MOVES WITH THE ARM BONE. How do you make it to where, like, the Hair moves with the arm bone, not the arm bone? And how do you set that when you place a new bone? (Like, how you got that specific part of Mako's ribbon to move with the new bone.)
Rainfur2 2 years ago
okay, I'm sorry for not understanding. why would you want the hair to move with the arm bone but not the arm? that's not in the first question you asked at all, you would do the same as for Mako's ribbon, swith the numbers for all the polygons of the bones you want switched, if one is an IK good luck, you have to do an extra step which I can't remember. you'd also need to switch the position of the bones. which means you're back where you started. I don't see the point...
3340Karen 2 years ago
I only used that as an example, I want to make a bone that moves the whole model, you don't have to select all of the bones to move it, just that bone and model will move how you see fit.
Rainfur2 2 years ago
-_-'....that's what the mother bone does.
3340Karen 2 years ago
I KNOW. How do you set it to do that? It will not do it for me, period. I'm trying to put one on a model without a mother bone.
Rainfur2 2 years ago
...a few comments ago you said you knew how to add one....why? you don't make an existing bone into one, there's an option that adds a working motherbone, all you have to do is find the right one and click it, it does everything else by itself. I also said I don't know where the option that does this is. that's why I said to press random options in the Veiwer, as I think that's where the option is. it won't hurt anything if you mess up the model as long as you don't save it.
3340Karen 2 years ago
oh, nevermind it's not in the viewer window, that does something else, in the main PMD window go to (E) (B) than (J) press 'okay' and there you go, you know have a working motherbone and all it took was the push of a button. though I wish you'd told me that's all you needed in the first place ...
3340Karen 2 years ago
I forgot the name of the bone. Sorry. But we both still learned a lot in the process!
Rainfur2 2 years ago
uh... how do you remove the thing linking the two bones -the new one and the endpoint- together? ._." i can't figure it out.
Imashii 2 years ago
why would you do that :O??? if you do the bone won't work. if you have the wrong bones linked together then change the number in the first and 3rd boxes to the number of the bone you want it to move with and the number of the end bone (or next bone) you want to attach to the bone you're working on...did that make sense? it's hard explaining these things without being able to show you...if it didn't help I can try pm-ing you a more detailed explanation (You Tube makes it hard with it's limit)

I know you can import .x files from Metasequoia, but I don't know about Blender :O...

you'll need a program called blender2pmd to export a blender model into pmd editor c:

i dont get the NOTE annotation you posted
1twilight21 2 years ago
The first one? It's a bit complicated, like if you add a bow or something to a models collar or upper body, you'd need to attach the bow's bone to the upper body or it will only move with the center bone, and not stay with the upper body if you move it, so type the upper body's bone number into the box the note is pointing to. (or the number of what you want the bone to move with) does that make sense?
3340Karen 2 years ago
@3340Karen oooooooh okey dokey i get it! thanks!

Hey um do you know how to add bones to arms coz i accidentally deleted them and im trying to make a shirt and when i try putting a bone, it doesnt come.
Can u plz help?
Oh, and if you want to see it, I could give u a Download link to it if u want.
xVocaloidUtauFanx 2 years ago
Arm bones are the same. I don't understand the rest of what you said. it doesn't 'come'? What is that supposed to mean? the tutorial explains everything, If you deleted them you should've undid that, it's going to take a long time to add them all back, if you deleted the finger bones. start over. it's not worth it.
3340Karen 2 years ago
I meant that the bone doesnt come on the bottom. But whatever. I'll try starting over.
xVocaloidUtauFanx 2 years ago
Oh :O You confused me. if it appears on the list it's there, if not you pressed a wrong button (very easy to do, I messed up at least 3 times in this tutorial XD) always make sure to pay atention to what you do :O So you can undo your mistakes, PMD can undo many edits, so as long as you don't close it, you could probably undo everything. you could also consider joining models, take the arms of the original model, and put them on the one with no bones :O there's a tutorial on how to do that.
3340Karen 2 years ago
Oh ok! thanks! ;D
