  • is the drummer drunk ?

  • @subman123x I know, that's the danger with watching a 40 year old clip

  • ace.......

  • What great times shame the kids don't know what they are missing these days.

  • The guy with the Afro is nice looking. . . Also love the song!

  • @RichRugby1980 hes about 101 now

  • I've always loved this song. I was 7 that very day!

  • music to the ears!

  • fantastic record, cant believe it never took off in usa. two georgous babes dancing away there. this used to be playing almost continuously on the jukebox at the youth club in st.neots hunts in the early 70s.brill...

  • Babe alert at 0:47!!!!

  • The first single I bought - OMG I feel old - those were the days!!!!

  • I like that fellah's cardi, @ 1.03. He looks so sweet and earnest. Also the fellahs in the suits and ties look handsome.

  • Fantastic vocal performance and the BBC orchestra is the cherry on the cake!

  • @cozener1 lol, you could alway tell it was them. they never sounded quite hungry or dirty enough, especially on the uptempo numbers, and they were always seemed one tiny fraction too slow or behind the beat and generally conflicted...

i always imagined them as a bunch of slightly stiff dudes, desperately trying to work out how to really let loose without seeming improper or being accused of immorality.

  • @DaveBTHunt I remember reading somewhere that most of them hated doing TOTP and were often worse for wear after a lunchtime in the pub!

  • @cozener1 Oh God, even worse - but even funnier! I can well and truly believe that - whether they were giving it 100% or not, you can just tell none of this Top of the Poppery was really their favourite thing...

  • Great song

  • This brought back memories, it was a shame that it crossed over into mainstream though. It was much much better hearing it at The Wheel...wonderful to hear again nonetheless.

  • Always sound like they're frying chips on TOTP's! ;)

  • Great song, singer.... and blonde! (who is she?)

  • northern soul classic

  • the record was origionally made in 1965 and had to wait till 71 to get its rightful glory and it was massive!

  • @z30soulbrother I thought it was originally released in America in 1967?

  • im glad you all enjoy this song so much. this woman is my grandmother, and yes, she is truly talented. you can still catch her performing in new york.

  • Hey britterbear21 :)

It's a pity Tami Lynn had only one hit here in the UK, it was in summer 1971 when this was in the charts here and it was one of my favourites of that time and I bought the single. It's great to know that she is still performing. This track seems to be forgotten here, it's a pity as it is so wonderful and uplifting.

  • WOW! First time I see Tami. I was 5 when I listen this song. A lot of memories with my family. Thanks!

  • F*****G brilliant!!! Happy days indeed!!

  • great song greatings from Croatia

  • Love this song! I actually prefer this version to the one on record.

  • This is the first song I remember hearing on the radio. Love it. Thanks for posting it

  • Now that's a great performer!! x

  • all the fame this song got in 71 ....6 years after she origionally recorded it!

  • That mixed race guy with the afro and blue shirt is HOT

  • Yeah and the blonde dancing next to him is HOT too!!!

  • At least they're playing live . . .

  • @flairbird1965 Dont think so ! cant see an orchestra ?

  • @jetjaz Look in the background at 1:00, there's the orchestra! Also this sounds different from the version on the record. Tami is seriously more talented than the bimbos presently singing in the Eurovision Contest.

  • @flairbird1965 - On Top of the Pops it was usually live vocals over a pre-recorded backing track. The BBC wouldn't let the original recording be used by artistes performing in the studio. Remember when Francis Rossi appeared with Status Quo & he fell backwards into the drum kit & the music carried on playing?

  • Great song and a great singer. Thanks for posting.
