what do you mean by stages? like you said 3/4 gain the 4th stage starts to cut in?

@topdog2328 The gain stages are just that, 4 stages of gain, starting out at low crunch, then a crunch, then a distortion, and finally a really saturated distortion. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but the Rockerverb uses 2 preamp valves for gain, which are cascades to create high gain. So i guess it would work something like, stage 1 introduces part of 1 preamp valve, and stage 4 has both of them running flat out. Respectively, 7-9 o'clock is stage 1.. 9-12 o'clock is stage 2 etc..

@voodooriders that's not exactly how it works. The four gain stages are always in the circuit, the gain pot just attenuates the signal after the first and second gain stage simultaneously: less attenuation -> more gain. Imagine four ovedrive pedals in series that are always on - >you turn down the gain control on the first and second pedal and the overall gain gets reduced. That's kind of how it works. It's always 4 gain stages, you just attenuate the signal going from one stage to the next.

Hey man I know its been a long time since you rolled that vid but I was wondering if you remeber what was the Master Volume setting when you recorded this.

Well basically I'm mostly wondering how the amp behaves on low volume settings. I have a Tiny Terror and its cool but it brings out the best of it when cranked. Does the Rockervrb have the same behaviour, or is the tone still hot at low volumes? Nice video and sound quality.

@delusgr Off the top of my head i'd say it was on 2-3 or so, it sounds awesome even at speaking volume though, that's one of the reasons i bought it! Ironically it sounds better than most small wattage amps at low volume! haha :)

Hey man :)

For under £50, or.. about half the price of the SM57.. You could do a lot worse than a PG 57 :) i sometimes feel it's a little limited and can compress/smother my sound a little, but all in all i've had mine 5 years now and it's always been fine for everything i've done on youtube plus just audio that i've recorded!! It's only now i'm starting to look at more serious recording gear that i'm considering upgrading, i 'll be happy to still have this in my mic line up though :)

Definitely want to buy this amp in the future and replace my Screamer.

The Rockerverb is one of those amps that isn't over the top in terms of Gain - but its still got more than enough to get where you want to go.

That's interesting, a lot of people don't like the cleans! They're very buttery and not particularly sparkly like a Fender! I love the cleans too though :)

Davy Knowles features most of the way through other than the metal riffage at the end :)

yeh i was shocked with the bottom end (sounds dodgy lol) but really the Orange amps have a Big Bottom lol!! and the rock tones, well there up there with the best I've heard. Crazy versatile beast.

Yup it's a real monster, sounds really open too, not like a tight focused amp say a mesa dual rectifier, it's very kinda.. i dunno how to explain it.. bouncy? But it's tight enough that it chugs well :)

They're called Orange because inside the output tubeformer there is a capacistormometer which connects two of the 43 inductorfiers, and it's orange.
