I have no problem with vegetarians bringing their own stuff to a barbecue, but showing up and expecting you'll be specially catered to is obnoxious.

If I go to someone I know is vegetarian, I don't demand to have meat either.

I'm a veggie and I go to lots of barbeques! So long as you bring your own stuff it's fine. You do have to put up with quite a bit of piss taking, but it's always good natured.

So long as you're not pedantic and refuse to use the same grill/implements as meat or start preaching to other people about why the shouldn't eat meat. Then you just come across as a self-righteous twat.

@wellsey89 You can. Generally I'm too lazy, so I just tend to go with some meat-free meat. You know, qourn burgers and sausages etc. Along with standard barbeque food like potato salad etc you can eat really well at a barbeque without touching meat if you've a mind to.
